Few items missing, and badly packed clothes

Several items missing ( some not small) , my shoes were just chucked in a box, some of my clothes on hangers chucked in a box. I gave a tip thinking they had done a good job.
Thanks to customer care my missing items have been found and I have them back

The men arrived at 8 pm prompt and…

The men arrived at 8 pm prompt and emptied our apartment very quickly.
They stripped down everything effectively . When we arrived at our new home they put everything where we wanted it and reassembled it all . They were polite very nice.
I would not hesitate to recommend Britannia.

Outstanding experience from beginning…

Outstanding experience from beginning to end. Moved a single piece of furniture from South Africa to the UK. Every single step of the move was a fantastic experience. The team exhibited care, consideration, excellent communication and kindness. Overall a fantastic experience. Thank you.

The move was a mixed experience.

The move was a mixed experience.
The estimator was pleasant and polite, but a little casual. The Bank Holiday Monday immediately preceding the move-in day was awkward and caused the move-out day to be seven days earlier than the move-in day; not very convenient. The moving folk themselves were very cheerful, capable and as flexible as possible, but there was obviously insufficient time and van capacity allowed in the quote and, at the last minute, the company tried to claim a significant price increase and an extra day, much to our alarm. In the end, they did not insist on the extra cost but did have to extend the move into a 3rd day! I suspect the estimator made a poor job of the quote. Some of our wooden furniture has sustained several large scratch marks which are not possible to polish out.

We are very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your experience. Having investigated the issues you have raised in your review, please find our comments below.

On 27th April 2026 we received a call from yourself wishing to book your removal for 1st and 5th May (days either side of the bank holiday weekend), unfortunately we had no availability for the 1st May and instead offered to pack and prepare on 29th April and then proceed with the move to your new property on the 5th May. The second option offered was to undertake your move on the 5th and 6th May. You were happy to agree to proceed with having your non-essential items packed and prepared on 29th May instead of 1st May with our assurances that you would be left comfortable over the next few days until the main move on the 5th May.

When your move coordinator contacted you on the 29th May you confirmed that the packing day had gone well and no issues/concerns were reported.

On the morning of your main move day (5th May) you informed your move coordinator that everything was going very well and that you were happy with the move.

The crew arrived at your destination property at 12:01pm and we received a call from the operational branch undertaking your move at around 13:50/14:00pm to inform us that there was a delay in you receiving the keys to your new property and that they still had around 500 cuft to collect and delivery out of their store (what was collected on packing day – 29th April) along with delivering what they loaded that morning. At 14.30pm the crew confirmed that they were still awaiting access to your new property and a voicemail and email was sent to you to request a call back regarding the delivery and to notify you that the delayed access might mean that delivery may need to be completed the following day, which would have incurred additional charges.

At 14:50pm we notified SMP of the delayed access and the potential issue with delivery as well as being informed of the potential additional charges this would incur. SMP contacted the site manager of the apartments you were moving to, who then authorised us to have access into the property to try to avoid the additional charges. The crew were given access after 3pm. Regretfully, the delays in gaining access to your new property meant that your delivery could not be completed in full as originally scheduled and the remaining balance of non-essential items had to be delivered the following morning.

We apologise for the misunderstanding caused by the crew giving misinformation regarding the original delivery schedule. We understand that they may have indicated to you that regardless of the delivery time, they would not have been able to complete the delivery in full within 1 day (5th May). We can confirm that this was not correct, and that had the delivery been able to proceed immediately upon the crews arrival at 12:01pm, then there would have been sufficient time on the day to complete your move in full. Please accept our sincere apologies for the misunderstanding this may have caused.

We are very pleased that the operational branch were able to return the following morning to complete the delivery avoiding any further delays to your move.

We are very sorry to hear that you have found a couple of scratches to wooden furniture, if you would like to discuss this please kindly email CustomerRelations@britannia-movers.co.uk however please be aware that damages are required to be reported to BMI within the 7-day notification period.

Senior Moves

Senior Moves - exceedingly expensive for the lack of service. The only useful part, I’d lost my voice and couldn’t speak to record video - this done by the S.M member of staff. ( amazingly both estimates around
£4-500 more than Britannia Moves. )
But, £65 + vat per hour to unpack crockery ridiculous. Alderman Linda Norris.

Britannia Movers undertook a detailed explanation on how the packing, removal and some unpacking would be carried out. The company also provided a very useful list of who to contact when changing address. The packing was very efficiently managed by one person beforehand and continued with the same person and a colleague on removal day. The unloading and placing of various items was well organised. The delicate items were unpacked in order to check if there were any breakages - there were none. Well done and thanks to the two very polite and cheerful men concerned.

A two stage UK removal

I had a two stage removal, the first stage moved my effects from the home I was selling for completion into storage in Petersfield and then from Petersfield to East Sussex.

All the removal men on the days were very helpful, polite and curteous and got on with packing and moving. Everything was speedy, jolly, efficient and easy.

After I had unpacked most of the boxes another Britannia company, Beckwith came and picked up the boxes. Making a stressful time, much easier.

New Zealand move

We moved to New Zealand on 26 November and moved into a house on 31 March 2026.
From the day we contacted Brittania (Christchurch) we had great communication and they guided us through the whole process.
Over three days from 17 November, the packing team turned up promptly and got on with the job. They were efficient, courteous and helpd where there was doubt about any issue. We would recommend this team very highly.
We still have around six boxes to open. We had one broken ornament and are still missing three lamp shade holders. They still may turn up. The ornament was hardly priceless.
The New Zealand experience was less satisfactory. We only asked for three items to be put together. Unfortunately I had to put the beds together properly as they weren't bolted and the headboards were not attached. I only realised this after they had left. My fault I suppose. However, I just found the attitude completely different from the UK end.
Five stars is given purely because of the UK experience.

Overall, a good service

Overall, this company was extremely efficient and was very good at communicating and answering the phone. The only issue I had was on the day of the move, the two removal men suddenly took exception to moving my digital piano, even though it had been clearly flagged up in my inventory, been seen and talked about with the Britannia assessor who came out to assess what I was taking, and had been approved on the insurance form by Britannia. I had to argue the toss with them and insist they brought it, which they eventually did with no problem at all. I could have done without that stress on what was an already stressful day. But other than that, the move was smooth.
