BTC are dominating and over reaching. They wanted all my personal details, names, relationships, detailed information on my assests, what I was doing with them, how and why I was purchasing crypto, where and why it was moving. They expect complete visibility of my details and assets, and locked my account and ability to make transfers as they weren’t happy with my plans. The experience is guilty until proved innocent, and BTC wouldn’t reveal any of their information or sources of information about what they ‘knew’ about the supposed issues. 0/5 stars

Everything is pretty straight forward. Flexible and simple to send/receive and bank payments are instant as well.

I just got absolutely ripped off on BTC Markets and I’m furious. I deposited $1888 AUD, went to buy BSV, and simply selected the default options like any normal person would. It defaulted to a limit order, I hit enter without thinking twice (because I trusted the platform), and the order filled instantly at $30.81.
The actual spot price at the exact same moment was $22.10.
That’s an instant $480 loss the second I was “in position”. My entire account value dropped by over 30% before I even had time to blink. No warning, no clear indication the spread was that insane, nothing. Just a silent rug-pull because their order book is so thin and their default settings are predatory.
I immediately checked CoinSpot — same trade, same time, the bid/ask spread was tight and I would have paid close to the real market price. Night and day difference.
BTC Markets is a total rip-off. Their “defaults” are designed to screw beginners and anyone who dares to trust the platform. I will never use them again and I strongly recommend everyone else sticks to CoinSpot instead. At least there you actually get what you pay for instead of getting robbed in broad daylight.
Absolute garbage exchange. 1/5 stars and I’d give it zero if I could.

My experience was less than efficient
Initial deposit attempts to deposit funds were returned back to my bank multiple times despite following the instructions provided. Confirmation by email was the only communication. The issue was only resolved after I independently adjusted the transfer method to BSB.
Customer service is entirely email-based. There is no published phone number and no way to leave a voicemail. I only received a call after specifically requesting to speak with a human, and the call came through as “No Caller ID,” which undermines trust in an environment where customers are warned about scam risks.
During the crypto withdrawal process, compliance decisions appeared to rely on internal assumptions rather than direct clarification from me. Relevant departments did not speak to me directly, only email and conclusions were drawn via internal notes, which created avoidable stress.
To acknowledge the positive: once escalated, the team did increase my cash withdrawal limit and my funds were returned to my bank successfully.
My decision to move my funds elsewhere reflects that the current structure and restraints are not aligned with my needs going forward. Unfortunately BTC Markets are not a company I could recommend.
I offer this feedback in the spirit of process improvement.

This was a marathon. Kevin did have a lot of patience we finally got there to do 2 authentication step and finally withdraw money. The hurdles you have to jump through is rediculous

I have opened my account with BTC markets more then 8 years ago.. BTC is very professional, extremely cautious when it comes to securing your assets.
I highly recommend BTC MARKETS for crypto lovers

Apart from the excessive fees, use for online shopping results in frozen assets for vague, unspecified reasons.
Presumably works OK for trading.

I've been a BTC Markets customer for many years now and have always found their customer support to go above and beyond, making sure my needs as their client are always met. On the most recent occasion, I needed help transferring some assets from one platform to another and I'd missed a crucial step. After reaching out to the BTC Markets customer support team, they were able to guide me to get my transaction processed. Even though it was something I was failing to do correctly on another exchange! In other words, they provided support to me as their client to troubleshoot my error in transacting on another (competitor) platform.

Safety... these guys look after you all the way. Have had no issues at all. Everything is simple to understand. Was referred by a mate who has used for years. Glad I went with them!!!

My application took a very long time, longer than any other exchange. In the end I was refused permission to transfer btc to my cold wallet. The excuse about protecting me doesn't hold water. It was patronising and insulting. I think this exchange is more possessive about its btc than any other exchange. So the term 'exchange' doesn't really apply.
