Basingstoke: Started off great with a friendly member of staff behind the counter. Ordered on a Tuesday for delivery on Friday. Nothing delivered by 13:00 so I called to check. I was told they had a lot of deliveries and I would be on their 3rd run of the day. Called at 16:00 and told the delivery won't be until the next day, Saturday, but was reassured it would be the first delivery at 09:00 at the latest. I am typing this at 09:30 after speaking with the staff member at Basingstoke telling me it's on the truck but he can't tell me when it will be delivered. Will never use them again as they clearly don't understand how to treat customers. I have people waiting to work and they can't as the materials have not turned up when promised. A "sorry" response from them doesn't fix anything. Maybe if they could deliver on their promises, they could eliminate "sorry" from their vocabulary.

Generally reliable merchants with prompt delivery and decent stock levels. However, their pricing is outrageous. For example, they charge around £13 for Everbuild Anchorset Green 300ml, when the same product is available elsewhere from £6.50.

I understand businesses need to make a profit, but this kind of markup feels excessive and unjustified. It’s hard to justify repeat purchases at these rates.

Bought a kitchen through build base after being recommended by our builders. Big red flag straight away as we were had no responses despite chasing for quite a few weeks. We persevered due to the recommendation. Eventually the other newer kitchen designer at the Portsmouth branch offered to take on the designing of our kitchen. This then seemed reasonably straightforward.
We visited the showroom to make choices and were visited by the designer, we explained what we wanted and our needs as quite a large busy family. The design seemed reasonable and covered most of our needs. However, when we started to request to put in an order they started to come back with insisting we had all our details correct, again, commendable. Except that the fine details, such as the interior of a larder cupboard, became more and more convoluted and confusing. It was impossible to see pictures showcasing our options properly. More and more options were thrown at us. Small things that we had thought were simple suddenly seemed more and more complicated; we were informed that they hadn’t wanted to overwhelm us initially with too many decisions and choices. Unfortunately, we needed to know all these things initially to be able to properly know what we should be requesting. We started to make changes as we weren’t happy with the reality of what we were actually being offered. We cancelled the kitchen island having found a much nicer, better quality and simpler option online that was promptly delivered and put together immediately. In hindsight I could have done this with the whole kitchen. In the meantime, it was often impossible to get hold of either of the designers and answers were unclear and complicated. When the order was finally made and delivered, the quality was terrible and we have had to pay for our fitter to redesign it more to what we wanted. Build base ended up sending out more parts to be able to redesign some of the kitchen but even then the wrong things were sent. We needed someone to help us through the process of choosing and designing a new kitchen but I’m afraid I have ended up stressed and unhappy with the end result. A disappointing experience.

Avoid Bristol branch , hired 2 items for weekend hire got charged for week hire . Was told on 5 different occasions that the manager would sort out the refund from the deposit! That was 2 months ago and still no refund and they don’t answer the bloody phone

Stornoway branch a treat to deal with. Always prompt with replies and deliveries. Willing to give advice if required. Recommend

I called in Friday Lunch asking for a ride on roller for my driveway to compact 30 tonne of hardcore, Carl (Buildbase Grimsby) couldn't get me one but instead brought me a heavy gauge "Whacker Plate" instead which did the job just as well.......fantastic customer service with nothing too much bother.......Hire Base Exceptional 5*

We Had two deliveries consisting in total of 6 bags of Bulk sand and 160 Paving slabs. On both occasions the drivers made the delivery exactly where we needed it placed on our Drive and close to a fence and by the side of a skip, so they were very careful. The second driver even helped to move 20 bags of Top Soil that otherwise would have been in the way of where we needed to place the Slabs.

The Customer service in the Shop team was first class, always very helpful, but this was surpassed when we found some of the slabs on the pallets were broken and unusable after unpacking
Charlotte dealt with this very quickly and agreed replacement with the supplier with no fuss whatsoever and kept us informed of the progress.

Bsg Rochford Essex supplied the Brett block paving for my driveway in November, since then the colours have washed out on the charcoal blocks and some of the others have gone really dark , it’s supposed to be silver haze! Bsg are playing hard to get with my installer, they have sent back a lorry load of these blocks to Brett because they are sub standard and have in fact stopped dealing with Brett and have had at least 4 others in the area with problems, Brett’s inspector came round on the 4th of July and more or less admitted there’s a problem, since then my installers have received an email blaming them for not mixing the blocks ! As did the others with problems
When the drive was first installed it looked great but now it looks an absolute mess, faded blocks and darkened blocks , big areas of dark blocks that were fine when new
Brett’s accreditation certificates for manufacturing does not cover the consistency of the colours
I would recommend avoiding Brett paving blocks at all costs and save yourself a major headache

Absolute joke! Delivery turns up at 8am (perfectly fine with time it’s in working hours) but shouting a swearing while delivering stuff to a house ! Goes on for
About 30 mins just chatting and swearing as loud as they can with children around . Disgusting behaviour representing a company !

I am a disabled women who lives alone. I asked for half a ton of sand. They just dropped it about 6 foot from my back gate. I told him I needed help but wouldn't do it. I'm so disappointed with them. What ever happened to customer service

BUILDBASE NORWICH. My first visit to Buildbase Norwich today to buy something that wasn’t stocked by the other merchants. Just a small order but what a great experience. Yard staff were polite and efficient and Counter staff were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Would not hesitate to use them as my first choice of merchant next time.

Ouch, that was pricey! I've just visited Buildbase in Belper to buy some fittings for rainwater guttering. Nothing really complicated, just some poly 92.5 degree bends and some pipe brackets. Thought it was a bit pricey when I paid, so decided to check when I got home.

It was four times more expensive (before VAT) at Buildbase than buying through a specialist drainage supplier. The online Buildbase price was eight times more expensive than the specialist.

I note that Buildbase is now part of the Huw Gray group. I wonder if the high prices are linked to that. Needless to say I'll not be using them in the future except as a last resort.

Very helpful and swift delivery of aggregates, delighted that they accept returns of the unused bags too. Helpful staff, highly recommend. I used the Malmesbury branch.

Over £500 out of pocket.
I thought I would use buildbase as it was close to 2 houses I was building .
I ordered 5  lintels on buildbase online store for collection but after visiting the store only 3 of the 5 was available.
So they  was good enough to order the missing lintels .After waiting 3 1/2 weeks
i visited the store thinking surly they will be in stock by now (also phoned several times to check ).
Basically no lintels delivered to store ...none on  order and have no record of a orders at suppliers.
Asked for refunded and was told to apply online via buildbase site but after 7-8 month still no refund after trying several times and revisiting store.

Went to Lincoln, Pelham branch to look at bathrooms. There were three staff glued to their computers and none asked if we needed or offered their help! No prices on anything 😕. Very disappointed. The previous company was far more customer friendly. We won't be going to Buildbase for our bathroom!

pulled into the Stowmarket branch to collect 2no 18 mmply and and 20 noCLS timber to be greated by the yard representative called jay
he ask me what I wanted and got all the materials required and he loaded it all up I just went in and paid absolutely marvellous service a credit to build base

Jen @ Redditch branch has been fantastic. Designed our kitchen, bathroom, utility and more. Always listened where as other companies produced designs nothing like we asked for. After the order we had excellent aftercare and advice.

It's been a pleasure and I would recommend to anyone!

Bridge of Don, Aberdeen could not have been more helpful.
Ordered some materials for a recent kitchen renovation, there were some delays in receiving some of it, but buildbase kept us informed about the delays.
A few wee issues which were quickly and efficiently dealt with.
Wish we’d got everything from buildbase.
