We have been having a Symphony kitchen built in our new build home. We needed to see some of the products and choose some items that were not being supplied by the builders.
We visited your Exeter branch and the lovely Katherine Allan, for the first time in April this year (2022). Katherine was patient and very knowledgeable about the products. She was able to suggest and advise without being pushy. This resulted in us being able to make some choices and consequently some alterations to the original kitchen plan. Now we are nearly at the stage of moving in (and have relocated) we wanted to order some things for cupboards and drawers so went back to Exeter to see Katherine as we trusted her to give us the right advice and would help us to make appropriate choices. We ended up having to make the order with Katherine over the 'phone. Katherine made this easy. when we discussed the possibility of having the goods couriered to our new area Katherine suggested getting the items delivered to the Buildbase in Bristol as that would be our nearest outlet. This has happened and we have been to collect our goods. We cannot thank Katherine enough for her help and sensible support and advice. We have been dealing with so many people as we are moving and so often have found difficulties so our excellent experience with Katherine has stood out. Thank you Katherine.
We had ordered some building supplies from an alternative company. After 3 aborted deliveries over a two week period we went to Buildbase at Mexborough and placed an identical order. The delivery arrived the very next day, it was delivered efficiently and professionally. We will use Buildbase in future. Excellent service!

Incredible customer service throughout. Despite a national shortage of Thermalite blocks, the friendly team connected us with Colin at their Heathrow who was incredibly helpful, kind and professional.
Logistics were no barrier for Colin, whose superb customer service quickly surpassed our expectations. He not only organised a 70-mile courier from Heathrow to Oxfordshire at a very competitive rate, but also a next day Saturday delivery. We are absolutely thrilled. Thank you for all your help!

Very poor experience. This Company did not know what to do with my disability VAT exception declaration despite me reading all of the information out to them from HMRC website. I used a VAT registered builder who had no problem with my declaration. I had to pay the VAT at build base and now I have lost money that could have been spent elsewhere on making my home comfortable & accessible.

We were looking to buy more kitchen cabinets for our new build and went into the Oxford store on a Saturday afternoon. Dean immediately sat down with us, used our drawing to list out components and provide a quote on the spot (including an unprompted 10% discount from catalog price), and even sketched out what it would look like! We took a couple weeks to actually make the purchase, but Dean was very helpful throughout. Delivery was great. Overall, very good experience.
We also purchased some bulk aggregate and sand for a patio, which was delivered directly into our back garden within just a couple days - good communication throughout.
We did pop in to try to look at patio slabs in person, but this was not very organized and there wasn’t someone about that wanted to help us navigate this yard of random slabs. To be fair, it was about 20 mins before closing time on a Saturday. We didn’t buy slabs from them.

I do not appreciate the female staff there at all, they are too flirty with male customers yet ignore female customers. Zee (hire department) from Skegness branch gave my partner her private phone number to contact her. I was shocked when my partner showed me and even more shocked to learn I wasn’t the only one this has happened to. Some kind of warning needs to be given and more training needs to be provided in customer care. My friends and their partners now travel to other build base branches, if no changes are made, I will be joining them.

Never really had to write a negative review for a building merchant as I regularly receive great customer service.
However today was the day where I felt like Buildbase have a policy to get involved with matters that don't concern them and treat customers that they have lower than the trades that have accounts with them.
My review is specifically based on the experience I have just received by Ian Harper from the Nuneaton Branch. Who completely ignored my point of view and refused to refund me £396 for materials that I had paid for which haven't been delivered to me.
I have raised a dispute with my bank so they will also look into this on my behalf. If I knew this is how they treat the public I would never have agreed to use the company!

I have been waiting for a refund for over a month and requested it 3 times todays is the 4th and still not heard back! I am incredibly angry at their customer service and live chat!

Since this was posted I have requested my refund 6 times. They do not care! Once through the email provided on this post and also 5 times via their Live Chat.

I have no submitted today 12/06/22 another form request and have notified I will engage with Citizens Advice if they do not refund me the order.

I ordered 3 bulk bags of grey limestone. 2 bags were completely mixed with white and grey. Completely ruined my garden look I was going for. Now it looks like the birds have done a crap all over. After speaking with them on the phone they assured me it was a decontaminated bag so sent out another…. This bag had more white than grey. Not happy.

Ordered some plywood for a project and it took over a week and me pestering them to even arrange delivery. Buildbase then delivered the wrong (i.e lower quality) items and had to send out replacements. They also missed items on my order and after having to call and email them a number of times I've had to seek a refund after waiting a month.
I wouldn't rely on this company for projects as they are just not reliable.

I recently had the pleasure of hiring a micro digger from this company. My first and only point of call, which I think is important as it makes transactions with the company a bit more personal although it was whole professional. I was introduced to this particular company through a friend. I hired the equipment for 1 week, and I found it very clean tidy and to me looked very recently purchased. Sam was very helpful in telling me the rates, getting the digger to me and keeping me updated as to when it would be picked up, after I advised I was finished with it. The man who brought the digger was also very pleasant. All in all I cannot fault this company and would highly recommend them. I feel Sam is a credit to them, he is very pleasant, happy, professional and helpful in all his work duties. Thank you 😊

I’m BuildBase customer since 09.2020, have trade account with ElectricBase and here my experience.
Basically when you placing the order receiving issued invoice in 3sec, but the problem is, that every second order coming mixed up, or they unable to deliver ordered materials for various reasons.
Then obviously requesting to issue credit notices, but then they starting to ignore you and you have to chase them constantly to get credit notices and sometime it take 12 weeks to get it.
Whatever in the beginning every single month the lady from credit control pulls in to it and starting to chase to pay these invoices for which they delay issue credit notices.
She are so arrogant and rude, acting in very upsetting way and even after my multiple complains she did not spend even couple of minutes to learn where the problem and like this all around year.
BuildBase on purpose or not doing so many mistakes on invoicing.
They charged my in multiple occasions for own mistakes and finally they do not fallow own Term & Conditions.
Is even hard to believe that there such mess, anarchy and disrespect for the client is happening.
What a nightmare it is to be your customer!!!

UPDATE - Manager from Buildbase phoned to apologise for order being wrong. He made no excuses and took full responsibility. A mutually agreed solution was found which we were more than happy with. He is a credit to Buildbase. You cannot fault a Company who accepts they were wrong and do not try to make excuses, good customer service. I therefore will definitely go back to them again. Things can go wrong but it is the way they are put right that matters.
Ordered from high Wycombe Buildbase. Everything about this order was wrong. The size of the plasterboards were not what we ordered or even as stated on the invoice. The timbers were not the length we ordered. One of the timbers was snapped. We ordered two skirtings and only one was delivered. We travelled miles to my daughters house to do her alterations for her and it was a complete waste of time. 129 miles. I have sent a message to Bill base in high Wycombe and I’m waiting for their reply. I will not let this go I will even take it to Small Claims Court if needs be. This is disgraceful.

I give one of my stars for the price I paid for my OSB boards, I give one of my stars to the manager in Oban who sorted out my order and got it delivered out to me - thank you Brian. One star was taken off due to online website insinuating you would receive your order in about 48 hours - so not true!! A further two stars was taken off for two members of staff lying to me about delivery - promised it would be delivered on Monday, but no deliveries where going out on Monday and one of the members of staff then went off on holiday.. Hmmmmmm
Without customers none of you would have jobs- best realise this moving forward or all your customers will head to B&Q
