Used Southport buildbase several times but would never use again. Place a phone order for customer to be delivered, "who has alsymers" and was given ref number so customer could pay later that day. However, a week later when i needed more materials this was not possible and insisted i ring customer and pay there and then or go somewhere else. What a difference in attitude between two staff. First guy couldnt be more helpful. Second guy "" who i will call smiler" so rude. Made me feel like i was a criminal

Went to our local Alford branch to order a new kitchen, this would have been about 3 1/2 weeks ago now. Gareth was on holiday so could we contact him next week. Contacted next week on the Monday morning and he made an appointment to see us on the following Thursday. (his timing not ours). He came to see us and we told him what we wanted. Didn't seem to want to try and fit in with our ideas. Told my husband that he would have the diagrams or whatever with us the following Wednesday. We are STILL WAITING. Husband called in last Friday and was told he was out delivering a door and that he wouldn't be in on the Saturday but would DEFINATELY be in this morning, Monday. Guess what, he was not in today. Husband told the person in the shop that we would go elsewhere. Meanwhile we have wasted nearly 4 weeks. Buildbase have lost several thousand of pounds worth of business as we were not only after new units but appliances as well. We also need new bathroom fittings but will be going elsewhere.

I am female and would like Buildbase to get into the 21st Century.I bought a couple of gravel boards last week at the counter. Once I had paid for them, the staff member who had been serving me, turned to the man accompanying me (my older brother) and asked him "Are you on your own?".-He hadn't even made a purchase, I had. My brother admits that he should have challenged on her sexist attitude, but he says that he was somewhat taken aback by the question-he wasn't expecting to be asked this as he wasn't there to make a purchase, I'd asked him to come to help me with loading the car. She then arranged for a man from the warehouse to help my brother load the gravel boards into the car. Of course, when we arrived at my house, we no longer had the chap from the warehouse, so we carried the boards between us to the bottom of the garden. I appreciate that it is nice of your staff to offer to help to the customer (not the person accompanying them) but it is wrong to assume that because a customer is female, she is weak and useless-I'm neither.

Ordered bricks and cement late yesterday and all delivered before 2 0 clock today! Good price, good service and pleased with order.Most other building merchants charged £30 delivery. Buildbase is free.

The sales guys in the Newbury branch are a good bunch,Dave Rummins is always helpful,however the Newbury credit control dept headed up by Julie has now been shut (to save money) and credit control is now run from Essex and they haven’t got a clue as to what they are doing !,My December invoice was £14,000 odd however I had some credit notes so I paid them a cheque for £13,000 odd,January statement came a couple of weeks ago and it was asking for a payment of £1700 odd but I thought I would pay them some of February’s as well to get it out of the way,so paid them just under £5000 inbranch! That was Friday last week,then today from credit control,Essex I get a really rude letter stating a the top I’m £45 in credit,then saying I’m a real late payer I owe them 1700 from December and as a result my account has been placed on stop,I called into the Newbury depot to day ,showed them the letter,they couldn’t work it out !
BUT GUESS WHAT BUILD BASE ? IVE NOW PUT YOU ON STOP,AND IM REALLY BUSY,JEWSONS WERE REALLY CHUFFED TO SEE ME TODAY

Great Service. I went into my local (Earl Shilton) build base store. I needed some help and advise and the assistant could not have been more helpful. My order was very small in financial terms but I will definitely shop there now in future because of the service.

A huge thank you to the lad in Buildbase Kenilworth who went above and beyond today to help us get what we needed for my 8 year old to build a hedgehog house.
As a female in unfamiliar territory I was taken aback with the help we received. He loaded the wood into my car (having chopped it to fit) and secured my boot so we could get home safely.

Promised AM delivery 2 men waiting to help with delivery finally arrived at 2pm after various telephone calls no explanation regarding the problem. Third phone call was told a driver off sick so delivery would be late ! Told now driver was on Taco so would have to wait arrived short of order. No explanation given at the time.
Now waiting for the completion of the order although I have paid for the full amount Customer service appalling !!!!

I had (to me) a small but complicated order to changes items in my shower room and the staff at Buildbase Lincoln were very helpful and happy to answer all my questions with patience. Their price was very competitive compared to other local suppliers.

Great service. Even if the fella in the office could have been a little more helpful. Went to melksham buildbase today having been to a competitor nearby who were extremely rude when I asked if the wood could be cut so I get it I to the car. Buildbase were great. The lad cut 8 or so planks to a specific length for me even taking the time to make sure I had as little wastage as possibly. I appreciate a cutting service isn’t always part of the purchase but it’s always nice when people go the extra mile for a very amateur older female DIYer.

I have found the staff at the Dover depot to be so happy and helpful. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.
I visited again this morning to put an order in and requested to see and feel the sharp sand. The staff who I spoke to was happy to take me to see it, with a quizzical look, but when I explained that a local DIY supplied substandard sand, he was very helpful.
Once paying for my order, I was advised that it was possible the sand could arrive today and the balance of my order tomorrow, I was impressed.
This afternoon my complete order was delivered by a very cheerful driver. Such a good service that I no longer will use the local DIY store. Very impressed.

Oh my goodness they have even brought you back as well? HA! Honestly the company is hysterical! no chance of meeting up with you lot. Always a member of management around? yeah because everyone there has managerial status they dish out like its sweets. Can you explain to me why going back a couple years ago it was a great place to come in and order what I needed and pick things up while having a coffee and a chat but now the last year or so its a shambles!! Where has all the staff gone? Gone to better places where they are treated and valued as people not just replacements I guess? Staff there look fed up, ask for help and all you get is a disappearance act! I Have had my good days there but not no more, Will not be returning, not even for a M10 Bolt, Wouldn't even return if i was desperate! Cowley Oxford, AVOID AT ALL COSTS! P:S Do not ask to meet up again!
if I could leave 0 I would. VERY bad experience with Buildbase Louth branch culminating in me getting a refund via a dispute with credit card company however still cant get anywhere getting someone to contact me to pick up the disputed goods. Have told them I will dispose of them myself if they don't get back to me but still being ignored. I will not try again but will take it to the dump!!!

Be very careful i ordered 4500 of holsworthy bricks and a lot where unusable so i called and had some replaced when the soppy delivery driver arrived he said what do you expect there seconds which has now really got me mad completely because i didn't order nor want seconds but as my bricky didnt know i didnt buy seconds he has laid most of them.
Nothing on internet or invoice about them being seconds. Im thinking i may have to start both extensions again from scratch
I will need to get legal advice through my insurance to see if they should foot the bill.

I have now been contacted after making a fuss on Facebook. Finally my shelf will be made and will be ready in eight days.
Honestly, after sales service is hopeless: as is getting anywhere with this group. Maybe fine if you are a tradesman with an account but for the humble public I'd suggest sticking with a retail giant like B&Q or Wickes. All I want is a missing shelf to a Sheraton kitchen they provided in my new home. You would have thought I asked the world by daring to go into one of their shops to order a shelf: yep that was all a shelf for a 60cm unit: I wanted the matching carcass colour or else I would make one out of any laminate board. Promised me a call same day with a price, NOTHING. Messaged them via FB, NOTHING.
Well, I had hoped to give them some significant business for our further building works: guess again Buildbase. But you don't care, that is how you function, you know the builders will use you for materials: yep, you rest on your laurels and offer poor service to the public. Why not just put up a big sign 'TRADE ONLY!!!!'

i made an order online for bricks and lintels for collection.
when the order was made it said that the lintels were out of stock but i would be contacted within 7 days.
i left it 8 days before i contacted the local store where i made my order asking if i could collect the bricks and id come back when the lintels were in stock.
at 9am when i rang the lady assistant at the store told me the manager was on leave but he would get access to his computer to check my order. he assured me he would call back in 30 mins.
at 11am i rang and spoke to someone else and he told me the same thing and would call me in 20 mins. he also told me it is not advisable to order online as these issues happen.
at 3pm i called for a 3rd time where again i spoke to the first lady. she told me it was not right that the previous guy never called back and would have words with him. she again promised to call back with an update.
no one ever called me back.
there is a serious staff training issue and if the only person who can access online orders is the manager, and he is on leave then there is also a serious business issue wrong with this company as online ordering is a common practice these days.

Ordered some gravel online but the photo with the listing turned out to be incorrect so we ended up with 40 bags of the wrong coloured gravel in our garden. Local store (Midsomer Norton) were very helpful in looking into the issue and swapping it for the correct gravel and it turned out to be much cheaper!
Definitely go direct to branch, do not bother with the website.
