Couldn't fault
From the very beginning with the quote, the pick up to the drop off the experience was fantastic. The guy that ran us through the paperwork and showed us around was fantastic. He had only been there a couple of weeks and was very professional. The van was clean and had wonderful features. The bed was very comfy. Having a minimum of 5 nights was unfortunate as we had to pay for nights that we didn't use. Would highly recommend using Bunk Campers and would use them again for sure

Great overall experience!
Pick-Up on a Sunday was really smooth, had to change plans unfortunatelly because of a delayed flight on Saturday. Camper was clean and equipped with almost everything you would need - a cheese grater would be great :) Return was outstandig service! Staff was so friendly and accommodating, we couldn't have asked for more!

Everything was very well organized
Everything was very well organized. Pick up and drop off was very quick and uncomplicated.
The vehicle was in perfect condition and the equipment was good.
I had forgotten something in the vehicle when I returned it and after my call the vehicle was searched immediately and everyone made an effort to find it. I was able to pick it up easily. That was a great service!

Great motorhome hire
Great motorhome hire. If you select to be picked from Edinburgh Airport be prepared for a wait. We waited for 1 hour.

Our breakdown experience...Not for Kids or the Elderly
We used Bunk Campers in Ireland and had a great experience. The staff allowed us to collect the motorhome early.
In the Edinburgh depot, it was a different story. We were given a pickup time for 1.30pm. We arrived today early about 10am because our flight was early and I had hoped to collect it. In fairness to the staff at the front desk, they brought it back to 11.45am. We had a good experience there.
However the problem started after two hours of driving the vehicle. Nearly every light lit up on the dashboard and my steering wheel started to lose its power steering 30 minutes into our journey to Glencoe. It was very dangerous and we thought they did a proper vehicle check. We parked at Falkirk at 2pm and then called the breakdown service of Bunk Campers. Meanwhile, we also rang the depot to advise that we called the breakdown service and that we may need a new vehicle. They said they would have to wait to hear from the mechanic first. The mechanic came and said it was not roadworthy and needed a recovery vehicle, which he called at 3pm. When I informed the depot, they gave me an ultimatum: either I wait until 6-6.30pm for one of their team to bring a van or wait for the recovery van. I picked the recovery van as I assumed that I would be collected sooner. As it started to approach 4.30pm and the recovery van did not come, we called the depot back to ask what happens if the recovery van does not arrive in closing time, they said we would have to come back with the recovery van and find a hotel ourselves. What was missing in the ultimatum given earlier was that if we picked the recovery van and it was past the typical closing time, then we would have to find a hotel. It is now 6pm and their subcontracted recovery service as not made contact. So my wife and two small daughters are stuck here waiting for a recovery van. I suggested options to them such as us getting a taxi to the depot before it closes or to down tools and drive out here. After all, it was only 30 mins drive away. But their response was to say “you chose not to go ahead with the first option”. It was clearly not an informed decision as I was not given the consequences of picking a or b only when I found out from my later phone call at 4.30pm. This was clearly different from the Dublin experience as my experience of Scotland was that they made us jump through hoops and were not flexible enough nor demonstrated sympathy other than begrudged apologies “I’m sorry you experienced that”.
So when BunkCampers say they offer 24 hour breakdown assistance, it probably means that you will be 24 hours waiting.
At 7.30pm. I called the breakdown assistance as nobody has recovered our vehicle. We’ve been told since 4pm that we would have contact from someone for an ETA when the recovery truck would pick us up. We’ve been effectively made homeless now. I know we have a motorhome but you get to pick the places you stay.
They gave us a phone number for the motorhome company in Italy with the BunkCampers rep saying “has nobody given you the number???”
My wife called at 8pm the 24 breakdown assistance. He said there’s nothing he can do. Imagine that! He gave me the number for the people in Italy. Now they are giving us the work to do instead of problem solving. When I spoke to the rep there, he said that his colleague logged it in error for Saturday. Only now we are being asked to take a taxi and book a hotel and they will pay for it. Too little too late. I asked this earlier and they said no. It’s 9:50pm now and still waiting for a callback for them to support us. My kids are distressed and there’s lots of people intoxicated walking past us looking in. They gave us a motorhome with no front blinds. There’s a couple of street fights kicking off now. I made a formal complaint but it has got nowhere - more of the same. The company has an adversarial approach to complaints as you can see in their underhanded responses on Trustpilot. I suppose they also entitled to their opinion. So you will have to make your mind up on that one.
If you are experiencing trouble with them, you could go through an Alternative Dispute Resolution or complain with the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (who Bunk Campers are registered with). But I feel so upset and aggrieved that I will skip these and just go through the small claims procedure out of principle because they have no duty of care towards children. I would not let any elderly (with medical conditions) go with them either. They just wouldn't care. It is now November 2025.
If you don't want the same hassle as we did, just avoid Bunk Campers/THL/Just GO.
But, if you love having hassle and talking to many different operatives who don't communicate with each other you should definitely go with Bunk Campers/THL/Just Go

Absolutely loved our campervan trip
Absolutely loved our campervan trip - way to go for sure. The van was spotlessly clean and well equipped.
The staff were fabulous - efficient check in and speedy return. Couldn’t fault the setup at all . Well done and definitely see you again.

Thanks Bunk Campers
Bunk Campers were everything we could hope for. The team in the office were friendly, accommodating and helpful. The camper itself was like new. Perfectly clean and the bed was really comfy.
We had a fantastic time and a big thanks to Bunk Campers!

All promised equipment in the Camper…
All promised equipment in the Camper van were not delivered as described so we had to buy during our journey. But of course refunded by BC.
Chairs and table should be in the CV as standard, paying more for the rent that a new set would cost is "out of range"
Apart from that great service and great CV

Overall great experience :)
The vehicle was great and the support very nice! Loved our stay in Scotland. If criticism is allowed, I would mention that demanding extra 70 pounds for a pair of bed sheets and 50 pounds for toilet chemicals, a table and two camping chairs seems a bit unprofessional. Such items should be included from the get go in my opinion.

Everything was easy
Everything was easy. The motorhome was in a good condition. We had an incident and all the management was really easy to solve with them.

The motorhome was fine, the technical support was not good.t
The motorhome was fine, although it was bigger than the one we had booked. It was also older.
We had issues with the fridge and the battery. We sent two queries but received no answer. The chemical toilet broke 3 days before returning the van.

Nice Van, terrible customer service
When one hires maximum insurance coverage that covers minor issues, one expects exactly that. Being charged for a minor issue and zero response is terrible quality service...

The beds are aweful
I rented a Motorhome Europa with a Queensizebed, as seen in the pictures on the ADAC Homepage in Germany.
When we arrived in Scotland the Europa Motorhome was only available with 2 Drop Down Beds. On my request they told me that Europa only has these beds. And there would not be something other available.
So we paid more than 5K € for a Motorhome that we did not want. The mattresses are so thin, we had to buy 2 toppers for 280 £ or cancel the trip to avoid back pain.
The briefing was not detailed. We found out how everything worked in the first few days. After 2 days, the TV stopped working at all.
So who is to blaim for that. Even your pictures just show examples of Motorhomes and not how they really look like. That is not ok.

Incredible experience and great welcome
We received a very warm welcome. The motorhome was in good condition and as described — only the Android feature was missing, but that wasn't a big deal. We then spent eight wonderful days exploring the beautiful countryside (Loch Lomond, the Isle of Skye, etc.). The Bunk team were always ready to listen if we had any concerns.
I would recommend taking the value pack to cover the mirrors with insurance, as the roads are very rough and it's easy to damage them.
In short, thank you, Bunk team, for this incredible experience! I highly recommend it!
