Terrible bank

Terrible bank! Been trying to access our business savings account for over a year since my late husband passed in 2020. I’ve sent them all the info they required and filled out maybe 8 mandate forms- all to be rejected and no one to help. The mandate team work remotely so you can’t get help in the branch or from the business team as ‘it’s not their department’. Shocking service to small businesses who are already under pressure right now. Spoke to business advisor again this morning who said he’s raised a complaint. He took about 15 mins to come back with ‘this complaint had been upheld as we’ve done nothing wrong!’ Hours on the phone, emails sent to mandate team to help me. No help just another mandate form! DO NOT bank with this bank! Still waiting to hear back from them as they’re closing this account.

Closing large charity account without reason.

I am treasurer for a branch of a large charity. We struggled with months of problems when they split from Lloyds. Their banking app has never worked properly. Failing to fully create new payees and recently have frozen the account due to issues with mandates which were never fully explained. After hours on the phone the freeze was lifted, documents updated and agreed. They have now deleted our savings account without notice and threatened to close the current account.
UPDATE
Accounts have now been reinstated after several hours on the phone but now none of the account holders can see any transactions before today. TSB say this is normal.

I’ve had a business account with TSB…

I’ve had a business account with TSB since 2020. In the last few months my business has been slow due to the weather & customers reluctant to spend. I have a BBL with them & never been in arrears until this year owing 2 months. (My loan ends in May this year) Without my knowledge, they have frozen my account. I am a single mother & relayed this to their phone chap & I cannot access my money until Monday as they didn’t have the staff in to deal with my situation. I cannot express my disappointment with TSB that even when I said I had no money to support my family this weekend they still wouldn’t allow access. Greed speaks volumes. I will be closing my account with them ASAP.

I had a TSB business account

I had a TSB business account. It was poor. The app was next to useless. The customer service difficult to communicate with. It felt like a chore trying to sort out any problems. They did not seem to be professional or efficient at all. Don't bother. When running a business you want and need your bank to be on the ball and helpful. They just appeared to be trying to make everything so difficult. Really hard work.

Look elsewhere. Terrible bank for business customers.

I run a concierge business and many of our customers are high net worth individuals from Asia, more specifically China.
We work closely with tour operators in China and we therefore have a lot of both incoming and outgoing payments to China. I’d estimate that 90% of these transactions would result in our account getting blocked. I’d then have to get hold of the TSB fraud team to unblock the account, usual wait time 40min plus. I’d then explain that our business model necessitates transactions from China, I’d even give them the names of the specific companies we deal with but the very next time the account would block again. I was eventually told that ‘it’s the algorithm’ (the modern day equivalent of ‘computer says no’) and, I quote, ‘you’d probably be better off using PayPal’. So TSB business banking locks you out of the second biggest economy in the world, great job guys!
I eventually made a formal complaint about this appalling service and they closed my account!!!
Terrible bank for business, avoid like the plague.

Don't bank here if your an SME Owner.

Don't bank here if your an SME Owner.

Their compliance process is severely understaffed and almost impossible to navigate. You’ll spend months going in circles, with new queries raised that could easily have been asked at the beginning. Reaching someone by phone often means sitting on hold for 40+ minutes and while the staff you eventually speak to may be helpful and appear to guide you towards resolution, their advice is regularly contradicted by follow up emails the very next day.

This frustrating cycle can repeat multiple times until you finally pass compliance only to then be told your account will be closed within 60 days due to a director’s credit rating, despite the business being fully self funded with no borrowings.

If you value efficiency, consistency and reliability, TSB is not the bank for your business.

Ignored

If there is a problem, TSB will ignore you. This has happened repeatedly and is not the service one would expect.

I don’t mind fraud alerts being raised, but there needs to be a way in which I can inform them promptly that they are being ridiculous and that the transactions were me. This took around 20 hours to do, with my card being blocked, massively inconveniencing my business. I repeat, the transactions were me and yet TSB blocked my card unnecessarily and for an extended period of time. I was initially told not to phone (raised in chat) and yet then chastised that I should have phoned if I wanted a quicker resolution?! Yet their phone lines were unstaffed! Raising a complaint was ignored when I didn’t immediately respond to their chat (sorry running my business!) even though as part of their process I’d been asked how I wanted to be contacted, and I said by email which was ignored.

It’s made me really question whether TSB is reliable for my business. Small issues like these create big problems.

I’d strongly recommend thinking twice before using TSB for business banking.

SHOCKINGLY BAD EXPERIENCE FROM START TO…

SHOCKINGLY BAD EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH! Firstly it took over 3 months to open the account because the application process is insane. They sent back our application SIX TIMES! Each time we would re-do and resend it, wait another week while they re-reviewed it, and then each time they’d tell us some new thing was missing or incorrect. Meaning the review team kept missing each mistake the five previous times. Then once the account was finally open, the online and app user experiences are both incredibly limited in what you can actually do. The app is the worst. You literally cannot even do an international transfer or search for a transaction farther back than 6 months! Then when we received our first large payment from a new client (£85k) they froze our account without contacting us first and kept it frozen for over a week while they claimed to be verifying the source of the payment! We ended up losing the client because this, in turn, caused us to be delayed over a week in beginning the project since we couldn't access the necessary funds! We made multiple complaints about this which were ignored and finally we received a letter saying they reviewed the situation and found themselves to be in no fault. That was the final straw. We closed the account and moved to Barclays which has been fabulous so far. WORST BANKING EXPERIENCE EVER. AVOID!

Poor experience switching to TSB

I have just moved a business account from another bank to TSB Business. During the switch, TSB lost transactions that were scheduled in the future. Had I not noticed, bills would not have been paid on time.

I spoke to TSB and the representative tried to blame the former bank. My former bank says the scheduled transactions are clearly there and TSB failed to take them across.

According to the Current Account Switch Guarantee this shouldn't happen. I spent an hour and a quarter on the phone to both banks trying to resolve the matter.

Account switching should be seamless. TSB please get your act together.

If you are considering switching to TSB I strongly recommend making screenshots of all direct debits, standing orders and payments scheduled in the future as they may get lost in the switch.

Shockingly poor Service

Most of my attempts to access my business and personal accounts with the TSB online are met with web pages that do not load. They seem to have the sites down for maintenance permanently. Occasionally I can get into my accounts but in 2021 the TSB is now functioning at a level far below what it did when everything was done on paper and over the counter.
