I do not usually write reviews but I had to for this. Amazing people work at that company!! I had a few issues and errors with my booking. I emailed the Butter team Hannah and William both helped me with my queries. It took a little while to resolve the issue (no fault of theirs) but I must say the communication I got from the team was phenomenal, nearly everyday I received an update from either Hannah or William, they was chasing the suppliers and would email me even if there was no update from the suppliers. To see the level of service and prompt responses is amazing.
I would recommend this site to anyone. Thank you team for your support and going above and beyond.

ZERO STARS. As many have already stated butter use to be great but that is a thing of the past. Use to have £3000 credit limit then they started reviewing accounts which ended with them putting my credit availability to zero after months of always paying in full before the due date or via direct debit, never missed a payment or not paid . I may not have the highest credit score but my history with them should stand for something. When this happened William was great at picking up the phone and fixing this for me , he gave wonderful customer service , I understand that they have to be responsible lenders and I was happy to have a lower credit availability of £500 . However here we are again with yet another review and them telling me they can’t allow me to make any more purchases and once I’ve paid my remaining balance they will then do another review to see if my “situation’’ has change ( there words not mine) they make you believe if you carry on paying via direct debit once your account is paid in full you can continue to shop with your credit balance which for me is £500 however that will only be the case after yet another review to credit check you and the chances are if you don’t have a high credit score your be told no. They have changed the way you shop you have to pay of one purchase before you can make another they went months not responding to emails and turning of there live chat probably due to the amount of negativity they were getting online . All the bad reviews on here speak absolute volumes and are 100`% true. They never let there customers know about the new ways of shopping until it was in full swing and there app was down for months. I don’t understand how they can treat paying customers this way . My advice to people who want to use services like this is to use Klarna, Zilch, Laybuy, Openpay, Clearpay there are many more on the market as well , butter make it absolutely impossible to be a loyal customer I won’t be dealing with them anymore .

Some issues, but support have been great
I don't know what has gone wrong with Butter. I have been using them for well over a year without any issues, only to find restrictions placed onto all accounts in December 2021 to only allow one purchase at a time, then to find my account blocked "pending review from the underwriters". The message said I would receive an email within 7 days. That was a month ago...
Support can't do anything except tell me to expect an email - an email that never arrives.
Such a shame as they used to be excellent.
Update: Have spoken again with Butter support who have clarified the process with reviews, and I have adjusted the score to reflect that.

I’ve been with this company for years had a credit increase only two months ago used them many many many times always paid on time never missed a payment gone to make a booking and they have declined me no Loyalty from them whatsoever avoid avoid avoid their decision-making just doesn’t make sense to me when I know but two months ago they give me an increase and had a review then. and I had a booking back then which got cancelled because of Covid so why two months later can they just decline me and take my credit I had i’ve asked them to remove me from their systems and it’s safe to say I would never use this company again there is other options so if you don’t wanna be treated like a fool go elsewhere I will definitely not recommend them to anybody in the future which I have done for many years their loss

We have been with butter since 2018 and we never had any issues. The customer service is superb and very accommodating. We had few issues with our account lately and Hannah was very helpful to assist me.

Avoid!!!…
I started with butter when they first started I earn over £650 a week after tax but yet they have restricted me to one purchase only even tho I have a credit limit of £500 and never missed a payment and always paid early they tie every customer with the same brush I even allowed them open banking access to assure them I could more then afford repayments but yet they treat customers this way especially when I’ve been loyal and recommended so many people to them end of day just a number to them. Would like to give update on review….. was contacted by William who I have to say was great listened to my issues and sorted them for me upon him fixing a few things they sent my account in for review earlier then the usual 90 day checks and low and behold dropped my credit limit to £150 but yet they sent me a email stating I had a £500 limit soon as tried to make purchase it notified my the purchase was beyond my credit limit I’ve contacted them again and they will not answer me I will be contacting the fca

When I first started using butter I found them amazing, so quick to help if you need anything or any help with a purchase but after the virtual card and trying to use it and finding that we have all of a sudden with no warning been reduced to 1 purchase or a £0 credit limit it soon changed my opinion. To add to this no one likes to be in financial difficulty however when you need help sorting your payments or trying to do something to your account to help you for a few months you soon find that the very frequent responses rapidly dwindle and you are left worrying - being honest I would stay well clear - I wish I had!

I've never really had any problems with butter. I've always paid on time, and my credit history is good. However, I just find it astonishing they slashed my credit from 1k, to £500. Granted that's all I needed but I must admit I found it very strange?

Great service,
3rd time using them. Great for booking couple holidays or long haul flights. Overall, easy to use, quick customer service responses via email and telephone.
1st time using them was pre covid so everything was great.
2nd time during covid so still havn’t been on the flight yet. Due to me changing dates because of covid, I’ll hopefully be going in the summer as planned. They do charge additional cost to extend flights so bare that in mind.
This is 3rd time I’m planning to go to Europe in April so should be fine for travelling.

Edit : butter tried to have this review removed by saying I wasn’t a customer and they failed…
I have now refused to pay for my invoice due to the terrible service I received and owe them a small fortune. But once I get properly chased I will be disputing them with the FOS and the FCA due to their unwarranted contract changes and lack of service.
I contacted them time and time again for help with the virtual card and to ask when the service will be up and running properly, I received no response. But as soon as my payment isn’t made their collections team were soon to email me, and have been doing repeatedly, they will not receive a response.
Butter is running out of capital funds and is going to be bankrupt shortly and due to this Shambles it’s unlikely you will need to pay your balance once they go under.
Do not deal with this business !

I will unfortunately be closing my butter account once my last purchase is fully paid off. I am even tempted to just pay off the amount and close my account and cancel the direct debit. They have not updated any of their customers regarding changes to the new account rules. Why have a £1,000 credit limit if you can only make one purchase at a time??This means until the purchase made prior is paid off you cannot make any new orders. Their app is useless and is constantly down with bugs and updates are a regularity .. God knows how tired i was of seeing the words " oops something went wrong" when trying to make a purchase. its so frustrating and turns what should be a pleasant and easy going shopping experience into a rather draining and daunting one. Customer services team need serious training. They are not only nonchalant but they completely ignore points being addressed and are actually quite rude...i am convinced its automated bots that are running their cs team now because they dont even have pics or names attached to the live chats..another frustrating section of the app...constantly telling you to leave your details and they will get back to you when they wont and dont. Anyways.. I would avoid opening an account with them because its just too much stress. Klarna could and would never! no interest with them and the flexibility to divide by 3 ..also paypal do divide by 3 and give you a sense of security. Its such a shame because Butter was amazing to begin with. monthly payments were on time and you had the freedom of shopping at your favourite retailers..now they are a complete s*it show! I think its time for them to get out of here..
