Excellent service and good quality kiln dried wood. We’ve had several deliveries of mixed hardwood which was great. This year we tried oak and it’s brilliant, easy to light and slow burning. Althou... See more

Quality of product 5*. Logistics 3*
Quality of product: 5* - bought large crate mixed hardwoods. There's a good range of sizes of logs in the mix. Some will be better for helping to get the fire started, some chunkier pieces for when the fire is settled in for a longer burn time. I like that there's actually bark on the logs too (helps as kindling). The price is pretty good comparatively.
I knocked a star off as their logistics and communications/customer service could be better.
I ordered the crate (marked as in stock on their website) on 25 Sept. Got email confirmation of delivery between 4-7 Oct. Fine. Except I wouldn't be available on 4 Oct, so wanted to contact them to ask that they deliver any other day. There's NO phone number on the website at all as far as I could see - often a red flag, and I should have checked before ordering.... So I emailed on 26 Sep. I got email reply on 28 Sep:
"We regret to inform you that there has been a delay in our stock fulfillment. Your order will now be dispatched from our warehouse no earlier than October 9th, with an expected delivery window between October 11th and 14th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please advise if you wish to keep, the order with the latest status, there is alternative of of course for full refund or exchange with current in stock items and balance returned."
No name on the email signature, which is also a bit of a red flag to me - not being willing to give any actual staff names feels a bit like a Co who might not take accountability and responsibility seriously. At least there was a phone number on the signature.
I expressed my disappointment but left the order open. Yesterday, 2 Oct, I get a call from the world's most relaxed courier saying "I'll be in your area in 30 mins. Can I get to your house with a 40ft lorry?" And so the crate arrived. Luckily I wfh. Luckily I wasn't out. Luckily it wasn't raining as the crate, although well secured definitely would be soaked had it stood out in the Mayo rains for longer than 30 mins. Courier was fine - respectful, friendly, helpful, but I wasn't expecting it to arrive as stated by Buyfirewood for another 1+ weeks so hadn't really factored in a window to be comfortably available for hand unloading 500+kg of wood to somewhere dry. I have found there is a fair bit of a need to be flexible in delivery communications in Ireland with quite a lot of companies and trades, so I'm kind of used to it, but when the product relies on being very dry in a very wet country, having a more reliable understanding of when a large crate of wood fuel will actually arrive would be extremely helpful. I don't get the feeling the company cares about that.
Worst experience I have ever had and…
Worst experience I have ever had and when you try to get any help you are put through to a UK reception desk and they just tell say to email another address. No prior notice that there will be a delivery and logs left in neighbours driveway which caused even more of a headache. I will never use them again.
Excellent logs
Excellent logs - burn very cleanly - would recommend to anyone.
Perfectly happy
I was worried about using buyfirewooddirect after reading some of the reviews, but my order of 26/10/2021(from buyfirewooddirect.ie) was delivered today (by a very friendly, helpful driver), in advance of the estimated delivery date.
