Rust after first use
I ordered a solidteknics pan. I followed all the seasoning and care instructions to the tee and after the first use it rusted on the bottom significantly. I accept that rust can occur but I didn’t expect for it to occur that early. I contacted both buy me once and solidteknics directly and they both responded the same way. Rust is normal and this can be expected implying that I didn’t dry the pan properly. Even if I did allow it to dry on the rack, I wouldn’t expect a pan to rust so significantly after the first use. I am all into care of my pans (I actually really loved the self seasoning process) but if they are soo high maintenance with the consequence of large amounts of rust on the first use, I feel they should do a much better job of warning people. But then again, if they did, maybe less people would buy them

Hi, thank you for your feedback. I am sorry if you're not impressed with the pan. The Solidteknics pans are pure wrought iron with no synthetic coating, so in the wrong condition and when the iron is exposed to water, it's the nature of iron to rust (especially if your seasoning is young).
As mentioned in my email, removing rust is an easy fix, and it's unlikely you'll get a lot of rust if your pan stays dry. Covering the pan with a thin layer of oil is not mandatory but can also help prevent rust while in storage.
These pans are built for performance. For example, throughout their lifetime, your pan will accumulate many scratches, scuffs, and scrapes from spatulas, knives, etc. Similar to rust, these are merely surface marks and do not indicate any damage to synthetic, toxic, or short-lived coatings that would require pan replacement.
I understand that starting out with an iron pan can have its challenges. We've created a care guide available on our product page that offers instructions on preventing or managing potential rust issues. I’m a repeat customer at ‘buy me once’ - every penny I’ve spent has been a good investment. My latest purchase; a single-piece wok is superb. Incorrect Prices on sale items .......
I stumbled across this website looking for a pan. It was on sale , so I thought " great" . Then noticed that there was an option to pay £30 more for the better seasoned pan . I clicked the button and the price shot up to an incorrect price . I contacted customer services , who said the extra seasoned pan was not in sale - so WHY HAVE THE OPTION TO PAY £30 MORE FOR THE EXTRA SEASONING IF IT IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE PAN ON SALE . So the website prices were incorrect, and customer services were not interested.
I have the pan which was on sale and will have to build up the seasoning - which on induction is quite difficult.
PLUS
I would not recommend buying this iron pan if you only have an induction hob .

Thank you for your feedback. All the sale items were added to the same ''sale'' collection and unfortunately, our quenched pan was not part of it. We are truly sorry if the sale messaging was confusing, your feedback has been heard and we will make sure to make it clear in the future.
I hope I can reassure you that the pan is fine for induction/seasoning with induction, there are a few things to be aware of: iron pans are extremely conductive, and even more so when using an induction stovetop - you can achieve high, almost instantaneous heat. It is very important to start warming up your pan at a low temperature for a few minutes, this will allow the pan to heat gradually and thoroughly and will help cooking to be even and efficient. It is also recommended to never use anything higher than a medium heat setting when cooking with an iron.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you need any help seasoning your pan!
Solidteknics Frying Pan - no heat distribution!
EDIT: I'm updating the review to say that the customer service team got in touch after this review and were able to resolve the issue by offering a refund in the end. I appreciate them making it right, but unfortunate that I had to leave a bad review for anyone to take my complaint seriously.
Original reivew: I purchased a Solidteknics 35cm frying pan in September 2021. I contacted the company 2 weeks later, citing concerns that it did not distribute heat evenly (or at all) when on the hob. I sent videos and photos showing how the middle of an omelette was burned to a crisp, while the outside was completely uncooked.
The response? It's not possible for this pan to have hotspots, and we just want to say you've seasoned it to perfection! Try heating the pan on a lower heat for longer.
How frustrating. I didn't say I had issues with the seasoning, I said that I'm unable to cook anything on it that requires me to use the entire pan because most of it doesn't get hot! I tried what they suggested, but it still didn't work.
After a few back and forth emails with them going back to the manufacturer with my concerns and being fobbed off I just gave up. I use the pan once in a while now and only when I need to cook something directly in the middle and can then shift it to the edge to keep warm. A waste of space in my kitchen.
So in conclusion, steer clear of this pan.
NB: I have a 30cm Le Creuset stainless steel pan and it heats up beautifully and evenly. I wish I had just stuck with Le Creuset, but was unfortunately taken in by the flashy marketing.

Thank you for your message, I am truly sorry that you are still experiencing issues with your pan and that you didn't feel listened to. Cast iron pans are known to be challenging when cooking on an induction cooktop and can often get uneven heating distribution, this is due to the nature of cast iron (slow to heat up) and the almost instantaneous heat you get from induction. However, this usually can get solved by pre-heating the pan longer and, most importantly, making sure that the pan matches the size of the burner,

So it turns out the contact form which I was trying to reach them on wasn't working. They apologised profusely and remedied the issue very speedliy all things considered.
I am giving 3 stars as I do think there should be a contact email or a phone number present on the site so that I can actually get in contact with them - circumventing this issue from arising.
Would use the website again after all.

I ordered a pair of Lightweight Black Chino's, they took 2 weeks to arrive which they warned me about. No bother. During that time I emailed them get clarification on how the repair process works should I need to use that service - No reply.
I contacted the company on the day the package arrived to return them (it said to wait 48 hours) - No Reply.
I contacted them 2 days later to return them - No Reply
I contacted them 4 days after that to return them - No reply.
At this point the 14 day returns window is looking like a distant dream, how convenient.
I have just contacted them again today, but it appears the only platform they are active on is defending themselves on trust pilot, so here I am - waiting for a reply.
SO disappointed as I loved the premise, but unless something incredible happens I highly doubt I will use this company again.
