Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 55 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently report significant delays in receiving payments, often waiting weeks or even months beyond the promised timeframe. Many people also experienced poor customer service, characterized by unhelpful responses and a lack of communication regarding their transactions. However, some customers also noted a recurring pattern where initial high price offers for their devices were drastically reduced after inspection, despite many asserting their phones were in excellent condition. People often had to reject these lowball offers, leading to incremental increases, though a few reported their devices were returned with new damage.

They don’t even deserve the 1 star

They don’t even deserve the 1 star

The worst company I’ve ever had dealings with. I just wish I’d read the other reviews on here before selling my phone to them. 31 days to get payment, absolutely appalling. Numerous emails and phone calls but never got a clear answer. After 2 weeks I asked for my device back as I wanted to go elsewhere (plenty alternative companies) to then be told I wasn’t allowed my device back as they’d done work on it, but they also couldn’t pay me or confirm when payment would be made. At the end it because laughable but if you genuinely need the money please please avoid.

THEIEVES AND CHARLATONS ........ DON'T USE THEM

Initially offered a fair price for my old mobile phones, then said there were a million issues and dropped offer to nearly nothing, despite all the phones having been kept in cases with scratch covers on and were (genuinely) all in excellent condition.
Finally got them to up their offer to something not quite so deplorable and the real kicker ... two weeks in a dozen phone calls and STILL not been paid.

They are just a bunch of charlatans and thieves.

DO NOT USE THEM

AVOID. Low ball offer business.

Reasonable offer of price for phone £157, they came back with offer of £30, £40, £55. High initial offer then low ball offers followed by incremental offers. The only upside was email communication was good and did get phone returned within a few days. I wish I had seen other reviews here as much the same experience.

If I could give 0/5 I would!!

If I could give 0/5 I would. I got a quote of £87 to recycle my Samsung A53 5G unlocked phone. However, when I received an email from them they said after testing my phone they found that the screen had burnout! When I sent the phone to them, the only reason I decided to update my phone, was that mine wasn't e-sim compatible. The phone was in excellent condition. Not even a scratch on the screen or body of the phone. They gave me an updated valuation of £10! I rejected this, which was then updated to £15! which I again rejected. They then updated to £25, which I rejected again. They then returned my phone with no explanation and the packaging was minimal. I had sent the phone to them in it's original box, with charging cable etc and packaged it in 2 boxes and bubble wrap. I won't be using this company again.

Usual experience

Usual experience, sent the phone off in mint condition, they took a few days to appraise it, had to chase even that bit. Told them to return the device if it's not appraised by end of day.

Appraisal came on, £80 down on a £525 valuation, rejected, with a clear instruction to return the device without delay.
Revised offer received, again paltry, again refused with an immediate instruction to return the device.

Third offer received of £495, by this point the phone had devalued at other companies and this was the best offer, so them dicking about cost me. Knew I'd have to keep on at them and reluctantly accepted.

Immediate email saying they're experiencing payment delays and will take 7-14 working days.

Sent them emails at regular intervals reminding them of their obligation, and that I've got no qualms taking them to court and they can pay the fee and interest.
On the final day before I submitted my letter before action, they provided their payment date, now they actually beat this date, but what a shower of crap company.

They know full well what they're doing, so I'd advise if you're waiting, get legal proceedings started

Sold my phone through them and like everyone else, waited 7 weeks+ for a payout. Kept getting palmed off with excuses how busy they are etc etc. wrote an official complaint last night (template off of citizens advice website) giving them notice before I start legal proceedings and knowing my consumer rights and money hit my PayPal today conveniently. Would urge anybody in the same position to do the same thing. Have just reported to trading standards!

Very very very very slooooooow

Been on "payment processing" since 22 Oct. I was ok with 7-14 working days delay, no big deal. But I am on 16th day and customer support sent information that I should receive guaranteed payment message in the "next few days". I have doubts if I'll be paid.

Offered £115 for my iPhone 11 brand new…

Offered £115 for my iPhone 11 brand new in a box never even been used. Only option to sell it states phone is in good condition and mine actually was excellent.
Offer arrived for £55 stating there were deep scratches and marks on the screen and phone ‘standard practice statement’ I can see with everyone else’s reviews. The phone was in pristine condition so they were lying. After two further offers up to £80 I just declined. Am awaiting receipt of my phone back. Will be videoing myself opening the package in case they’ve damaged it. Do not use this company read the reviews. Disgraceful rip off and fraudulent company.

Misleading payment terms, poor communication, and duplicate Trustpilot pages

I traded in my iPhone with BuyUR via Compare and Recycle. The site quoted £340, but after inspection they dropped the offer to £165, then £185, finally settling on £235 after negotiation — which I accepted in good faith.

Payment was advertised within 5 working days, later changed to 14, a term I never agreed to. It’s now been 14 working days since 13 October, with no payment, no device return, and slow, evasive communication.

Since then, I’ve discovered BuyUR operates two Trustpilot pages under different brand names — one rated 1.4 stars, the other 3.9 — but both belong to the same company. This feels misleading and prevents customers from making informed decisions.

Very disappointing — shifting terms, lack of transparency, and apparent reputation manipulation make this service hard to trust.

The scam continues

This company continues to provide poor service. Now on day 23 after accepting their revised price (one of their ‘sharp’ practices).

I called on working day 10 and was told to expect a text message very soon and that payment would follow swiftly. No message.

Mailed on working day 15 and was expressly told I would be paid by 5pm on 22/10. Guess what - nothing.

Called on 23/10 and was expressly told that I’d be paid by 5pm today. Guess what - nothing.

That wasn’t unexpected so in the meantime I’ve begun the process of reporting them to Trading Standards and an expecting a call back from them tomorrow. I actually wonder if the police should be involved at this stage as I’m sure there are many other people on the same position.

I’m also going to try and get in touch with some of the comparison sites to try and get them removed from their panel. They are playing a very unpleasant game and it stinks.

Criminal or just completely incompetent?

Terrible company, arbitrarily reduced the initial offer on the phone despite it being in perfect condition and couldn’t stick to its own payment terms. I ended up receiving payment 17 working days after accepting the offer as opposed to the 7-10 advertised but only after I had to call multiple times - supposedly they had ‘payment issues’ but these issues seemed to magically sort themselves out when I called up to chase this, weird eh?

On the phone I was was met with obnoxiously rude and incompetent staff each time, I arranged a callback with a manager to complain and work out next steps and once again had nothing but rude and unprofessional behaviour from them on the phone, I am honestly disgusted with what passes as ‘customer service’ from this company and regret ever dealing with them, especially providing them with personal details as I feel like I can trust them about as far as I could throw them.

I would avoid this company like the plague in the future, although with their blatantly fraudulent nature hopefully whatever conman is running the operation will end up getting what they deserve and the business will end up liquidated.

All in all I would not recommend to be honest.

Do not deal with this company, they don’t pay you even though they have possession of your device

I’ve previously sold a device to this company, they gave me the price that they advertised, I received payment for it quick. So I when I decided to sell my iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB I thought of the good experience I’ve had previously and thought it would be a no brainer to use them again. How wrong I was.

When I went through the online quote I was told £525, one of the best offers out there. However after receiving my device they send an incredibly insulting offer of a measly £250, I declined to which they offered £275. Again poor. All of a sudden after declining that I was offered £400 as a final payment. This amount is still offensive. I stupidly agreed because I wanted the money quickly. They try to find any excuse to lower the price. The screen was in good condition but according to them had deep scratches. The only issue with the device was a little mark at the top of the device. It had 100% battery health and very few cycles.

If I had gone to another company I know I would of got more money, but at the time I was tired and didn’t want the hassle.

Unfortunately it’s been nothing but hassle dealing with this company.

I chose them and also accepted the offensive offer because of the quick payment.

I got an email around 8pm on 23rd Sep saying payment is processing, and I’ll get it between 7-10 working days, I emailed yesterday and because 23rd at the time they emailed me it was out of there business working day it was day 9. Today is day 10, I’ve sent 3 emails. They have not responded or sent the money. So they had no intention of paying me today.

The companies business day ends at 5pm, therefore they’ve failed to pay or provide proof they have sent the funds within the timeframe. It’s clear they couldn’t care less. I will be applying through small claims court tonight for the value that they owe me. If it’s reached the end of the business day on day 10 and they haven’t paid you I suggest you do the same. If more and more do they’ll have to start paying on time.

I know for next time not to deal with these, I recommend you avoid them.

Only rating them one star as I can't rate them zero

Sent my Google pixel 7a to these after seeing them top price comparisons via moneysupermarket.com (£87) I sent my phone to them - took 24 hours after recieving it for them to send what I presume was an automated email saying they were starting to process it. Immediately after that received an email saying because it was heavily scratched, they could only offer £10 which immediately declined. I then received offers of £15 and £25, both of which I declined before they finally sent it back. Having received it back this morning there isn't a single scratch on the screen and only minor scuffing around the edge of the raised camera strip on the rear of the phone . It's clear their business model is built n offering unrealistic prices to tempt people in before low balling them! I only wish I'd looked at reviews before sending my phone to these - I assumed they were trustworthy as they featured in a money supermarket price comparison. Definitely not so, and wouldn't recommend these at all!! Avoid at all costs!
