Oops! App Glitch Not Okay...
I've always been a huge Cafe Nero fan and appreciate that they were one of the first chains to introduce the loyalty card. That is until they moved the card to the app. Now, a completed card just disappears when full(in my experience) and I have heard many other customers bemoaning the same thing. Such a shame but I never had this problem with the Costa app so maybe it's time to switch.
Tamworth Nero Cafe
Tamworth railway station doesn't take Scottish currency. I was told its their Bank who won't accept it.
This is just not true.
This is legal currency and I believe illegal to refuse. If the lady who refused ever comes to Scotland I hope she reflects on bringing her English currency with her. Not good
Disrespect of Army Veteran
Today the 17th March at Cafe Nero Trafalgar Square beside no 60
My husband who is a Army veteran (amputee) had asked to use the toilets and to adjust his prosthetic leg
Was informed by the most il mannered manager, that the toilets were out of order, because of a leak.
The manager didn’t care, and told my husband the toilets were out of order , but this was an outrageous LIE, because one of the staff quietly came to my husband and told him they weren’t letting anyone use the toilets because of the St Patrick’s day fest in
Trafalgar Square, to disrespect an Army veteran in this way is uncalled for.
My husband also showed his Veterans ID Card, there were a number of witness to this, and of course the
CCTV in the cafe, will confirm this
Utterly useless customer service
Spend £60-90 a month at Cafe Nero. Changed their porridge overnight. 40% fewer oats from a cheap pot of inferior oats for £2.95. 49p in supermarkets. Customer Relations did not reply to digital messages over a month. Eventually returned a phone call. Lady basically agreed with my complaint and apologised for lack of response. No offer of recompense for my experience, and she observed that once a,decision had been taken by Head Office that was it regardless of the opinion of customers. Will not be patronising a company that clearly places no value on customer feedback and doesn't empower its Customer Services to make changes, or compensate their customers for such a poor experience.
Loyalty Card issues
Purchased a coffee and then remembered that I have a loyalty app. The staff would not credit the loyalty app as I'd already paid, telling me it was technically impossible. Really, in 2024 this is not possible?

The best of the Chain Cofee Shops
The best of the Chain Cofee Shops, good quality coffee and great customer service from Head Office.
Table hygiene.
Love the coffee but find it very disconcerting that tables are never wiped over between customers!! The staff have no excuse as they clear the cups and plates away then stand about chatting with other staff members and drinking!! I have been aware on numerous occasions of the lack of their table cleanliness, finding crumbs and coffee splashes on the surface. Come on Nero, you can do better than this!!
Cafe Nero crap avoid
Cafe Nero, OXO tower London.. cold coffee in paper cups, toilets out of order, only good thing was the croissant and the blueberry muffin…
Braehead Glasgow filthy
Braehead Glasgow
unfortunately I looked at the seats in the entranceway and had to move. Had I noticed them on the way in I'd have left immediately. No idea how environmental health haven't closed them down. The upholstery on the chairs are covered in stains and god knows what else. Never again...and it looks like the Glasgow store isn't their only filthy cafe..!
The Cafe Nero based at Market Place in…
The Cafe Nero based at Market Place in Warwick town, is just disgusting from start to finish. There was rubbish bags outside surrounding the shop, upon entry tables hadn’t been cleaned. One of the assistants let a dog lick his hands, he then proceeded to serve food to customers without washing his hands. Another assistant then scraped rubbish into the bin, pushed the rubbish down, then also proceeded to serve customers without washing her hands. Terrible hygiene standards. Left without eating the food at all .
Caffe Nero HOUNSLOW - Extremely Rude Staff
My recent experience at Caffe Nero in Hounslow was less than pleasant, primarily due to an unfortunate encounter with a staff member (regrettably, I did not catch her name). This specific individual's behavior was concerning, indicating a need for immediate training in customer service.
I found this staff member to be exceptionally rude and argumentative. Even when I attempted to address a simple issue, her response was far from professional and also displayed a lack of basic manners. What is even more disconcerting is that this is not an isolated incident; I have observed this same staff member engaging in arguments with other customers on numerous occasions.
To ensure a positive and welcoming atmosphere for all customers, I strongly recommend that the management takes swift action to provide additional training for this particular staff member at Caffe Nero in Hounslow.
This training should encompass basic manners, effective communication, and conflict resolution techniques. It is crucial to instill in every employee the importance of treating customers with respect and courtesy.
my local nero is great!
Filthy
Lytham St Anne’s branch is obviously on a par with other locations mentioned on here. I didn’t even bother to go in - the outside is filthy and in a state of disrepair. If they don’t keep the exterior clean I can’t imagine the interior is likely to be any better. I’m certainly not going to take that chance when there are plenty of other coffee shops around to choose from.
Areas for Improvement
Tenure: Over 1 Year
Location: City of London, England
Would I Recommend: Unfortunately, No.
CEO Approval: Neutral
Business Outlook: Uncertain
Reflections on Tenure: My journey with Caffe Nero took me across four different stores, owing to my strong work ethic and team contributions. Throughout this time, I found that while shift leaders and new joiners were consistently impressive in their dedication, there was a palpable lack of empathy and understanding from Store Managers and certain corporate staff members.
Strengths Noted: I would like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of the new employees and shift leaders. Their contribution often exceeded expectations and was a highlight of my experience.
Areas Lacking:
Staffing Strategy: Persistent understaffing during critical business hours has created an unnecessarily stressful work atmosphere, indicative of a business strategy that prioritizes cost savings over employee well-being.
Remuneration: The pay scale for entry-level positions is disappointingly at the statutory minimum with minimal upward mobility, which does not align with industry standards.
Employee Benefits: A notable gap in the benefits package is the lack of complimentary meals during shifts, which impacts the overall financial well-being of the employees.
Career Advancement: Promotions occasionally appeared to be allocated to individuals whose conduct was not exemplary, raising questions about the criteria for advancement within the company.
Workplace Culture: There have been disturbing reports of sexual harassment that were not addressed with the urgency and seriousness they required. Additionally, the practice of promoting the sale of near-expiry products during busy hours is concerning.
Constructive Feedback for Management:
Staffing and Support: I strongly recommend a reevaluation of the staffing algorithm to better support employees during peak times.
Compensation Review: To retain talent and stay competitive, it is crucial to reexamine the wage structure.
Employee Welfare: Implementing measures for a healthier work culture, including team-building exercises, could prove beneficial.
Feedback Mechanisms: Regular, anonymous feedback from employees can provide valuable insights and help in identifying areas for improvement.
Conduct and Ethics: It is imperative that any misconduct, especially of a serious nature, is addressed swiftly to maintain a safe and respectful working environment.
Final Thoughts: The dynamic and sociable nature of the work at Caffe Nero is commendable. However, the company's approach towards staffing, remuneration, and employee support needs significant enhancement to truly make it a great place to work.
