Vegan Mermaid Cake
I ordered the vegan mermaid cake to be delivered the day before my daughter's 5th birthday party. On arrival the cake was in a bad shape - it had been bashed around in transit so was lopsided with squashed icing and the ice pack used in the packaging had split, leaking salty liquid over the cake. On calling Cakes by Andrew and emailing over some pictures they were really helpful in sending another cake out the same day which arrived the morning of the party. This replacement cake made it in one piece looking beautiful, however it was a bit of a surprise to cut into it at the party and discover the sponge was a rainbow cake (which was not an option for the vegan mermaid cake on the website). Not too much of a problem visually as it was for kids, however it was unclear whether the rainbow cake was in fact vegan as the packing note on the replacement had been omitted. As my daughter has severe egg and milk allergies I didn't want to risk anaphylaxis so she was unable to have a slice of her own cake! On the plus side the cake did taste lovely, it was just a shame about some aspects of the service and the potentially dangerous scenario of (possibly) having sent out a non-vegan cake to an allergy sufferer.

Thanks for letting us know about this, we did speak on the phone regarding the damaged order and we responded with a complimentary replacement cake, however due to the limited time scale of getting this order to you we only had the rainbow sponge available in our vegan range. Regrettably this information was not included with your second order, however given our previous phone calls I would have been able to reassure you on this occasion that the sponge was in fact vegan, had you contacted the bakery on receipt of the cake, if you did and we were unavailable then I apologise.
We always include a packing slip with our orders, this was not duplicated on this occasion however, going forward we will ensure that customers are made aware of the order being sent, although rest assured it is a CBA policy not to send non-vegan cakes to customers who specify vegan cakes on their order.
I have 15 years experience as a chef and am fully aware of the risks associated with allergens so understand your concerns.

This is the third cake i have ordered.Cake was delicious as all ways.The only minor issue was one of the macroons had been squashed due by transporation no doubt.Overall my daughter loved the cake and her personalised cake plaque. Only 5 months till my next childs birthday, when i order again

What an amazing cake - we had a white chocolate cake from Cakes By Andrew to celebrate my husband's birthday. It came on time, was packaged with care and attention and looked amazing. Yet another problem
A problem with packaging on they're end meant the cakes arrived soaked and inedible. 1 was edible but i had to buy more cakes as 1 wasny enough to go around. Took the price of that slice off my refund when I'd had to buy more. Not the first time there's been a problem and ive had to buy more cakes last minute from somewhere else, that i havent been refunded for. The cakes are inconsistent. Rubbish customer service. NEVER ordering again.

The cake was delivered on the date requested my mum has found it hard to get nice vegan cakes but this did not disappoint. It was packaged beautifully and was perfect when serving the cake wasn’t dry and was full of flavour will be ordering from here again.
