Very disappointed – price increased after a checkout error
I recently tried to purchase 4 x PARLOR Soho Barber Chair – Black from Capital Hair & Beauty. When I first added them to my basket, the total price was £2,005 (including VAT) — about £478 per chair.
However, when I tried to complete the payment, the website kept giving me an error during checkout. After several failed attempts, I refreshed the page and noticed that the discount had disappeared and the price for each chair had jumped to £892 (including VAT).
I immediately contacted customer service, explained what happened, and asked if they could honour the original price since I had clearly been trying to place the order while the lower price was still active. They confirmed that the case had been sent to the furniture team, but in the end, I was told that they were “not able to honour the price.”
This was disappointing because it was very obvious that the issue was caused by a technical glitch on their website, not by any delay or mistake on my part. The difference in price was huge, and I was ready to complete the purchase at the time.
Even now, if you search the product name on Google, it still shows the price as £478, which makes the situation even more frustrating and confusing.
I expected a company of this size to value fairness and transparency a bit more, especially when the issue clearly wasn’t the customer’s fault. I had planned to order several items for a new salon setup, but after this experience, I’ll be reconsidering.

We understand how frustrating it must have been to encounter checkout issues, especially when you were ready to complete your purchase at the promotional price. We investigated this fully with our furniture team and can confirm that the lower price you originally saw was part of a limited promotion that ended on 1st November. Once the promotion had finished, the product automatically reverted to its full price.
Regarding the price still appearing on Google: unfortunately, we don’t have control over Google’s organic search results or how quickly they update. Sometimes Google continues to display outdated pricing or cached information even after a promotion has ended, which can understandably lead to confusion. The price shown on our website at the time of checkout is always the most accurate and up-to-date.
We truly appreciate your interest in purchasing equipment for your new salon setup, and we’re sorry that this situation has left you disappointed. Your feedback has been shared with the relevant teams so we can improve the clarity of future promotions and minimise confusion.

I would like to say a few kind words about the staff I was greeted by one lovely lady that helped me pick the perfect hair care combo also the member of staff that was behind the till was very pleasant they are very approachable lovely to talk to and very happy to help. I placed an order with this company but later requested a cancellation within a reasonable time. Unfortunately, my request was completely ignored. They went ahead and processed and charged for the order anyway, despite multiple attempts to contact them. It’s disappointing to see a company disregard customers’ cancellation requests and fail to respond to messages. I would not recommend ordering from them until they improve their customer service and communication.

Due to our next working day delivery service, we have a very quick turnaround on orders. As outlined in our terms and conditions, “we’re sorry that in most circumstances it’s not possible to make changes to your order once you’ve placed it.” If an order hasn’t yet been processed by our warehouse, we’ll always do our best to cancel or amend it — however, this can only be done during business hours.
In this case, your cancellation request was received after the order had already been shipped. As noted in our email response times, it can take up to 24 hours to receive a reply, and for anything urgent we ask customers to call us directly. We’ve checked our records and couldn’t find any calls regarding this order.
That said, we did manage to have your order returned and refunded in full, and the matter was resolved before this review was posted.
We truly apologise for any frustration caused and appreciate your understanding. Your feedback helps us continue to improve our service and communication.

visited Capital Hair & Beauty during the VAT free promotion, but the discount didn’t apply at all. The staff gave different reasons, saying prices were already reduced or that I needed to spend over £50 — but even after spending more, VAT was still added. I was really disappointed because the offer was not as advertised.

Our VAT free sales can be a little confusing to understand. Therefore, I am going to try my best to explain this for you.
I have had a look into your recent purchase, and can see that your VAT free discount has definitely been applied.
If you were to add all the items up that you bought, the subtotal would be £87.79. Your subtotal showed at £73.15, which is the amount after your discount has been applied.
By law, it is a legal requirement that you have to pay VAT. Therefore, VAT has been added to your basket total. Our VAT free sales give you an equivalent code that is deducted from your order so that these amounts balance each other out to create VAT free.
Kindly be advised that, in simpler terms, we deducted the VAT free equivalent discount before the VAT was even actually added to the basket total which may be what is causing the confusion.
If you did not have your VAT free sale today, you would have to pay £102.43 rather than the £87.78 that you have been charged.

Always a warm welcome from the lovely ladies at southampton. The store is well presented, always stocked up, tidy & clean. If I can never find something, the team are always on hand to help me. I went to the Norwich store- was asked…
I went to the Norwich store- was asked if I had a store card and asked for my bag to put in a locker- (first time I’d been to this shop as I’m in training) but now I know its for the shop’s safety witch is completely understandable and of course I had no issue with this, the store needs safety in place for their things of course!
The ladies there were all very very polite and helpful, my partner had looked into barbering corses and the ladies explained everything and told him what he needed to know-
Overall I think it’s really really good!
Sells everything and brilliant quality-
The ladies were all so polite and welcoming and asked if I needed any help-
It’s a very professional setting and I think the ladies done very very well!
I will definitely be coming again- whether to buy my supplies or come for a look around- love it!
In my opinion it has a lot more of a selection especially in the nails than all other shops in Norwich which i really really like!

Disappointed by the treatment we received.
As soon as my partner and I entered the store, we were immediately asked if we had a customer card, followed by a request for my partner to leave her handbag in a locker. We found this approach unwelcoming and disrespectful. As a result, we chose not to shop there and won’t be returning. I’d recommend visiting Sally Beauty just around the corner, where the atmosphere is far more professional and friendly.
