Careers in Sport Reviews 

The length of the day was too long, but thoroughly enjoyed certain talks, very insightful.

A really friendly and welcoming event with a variety of speakers sharing unique insights and actionable tips.

Last Friday I had the great opportunity to attend a Careers in Sport accelerator event in partnership with Brentford FC's Community Sports Trust.

The day was packed with networking opportunities as well as insightful and inspirational talks from industry professionals including sessions with former athletes, media, marketing and c-suite professionals.

The key topics covered were personal branding, how to stand out within a competitive industry and the power of sport to do good. We also had the opportunity to engage with a live recording for the “What’s my goal?” Podcast hosted by Dr Simon Moore and former lionesses Katie Chapman.

The event was professionally run and I wouldn’t hesitate to attend another one.

The invited speakers were very insightful and well spoken throughout their presentation. Each speakers provided different aspects of the sports industry ranging from social media, sports development, perspectives of ex-players and careers in sports. There is a limited time to network with the speakers because many lined up to do the same. Overall is very good.

A great event for young people to find out more about the diverse and exciting roles available to start a career in the sport and physical activity sector.

Careers fair was great for our students ! Informative, well planned out and interactive.

The seminars were good but feel it needed to be more interactive, the pupils were sat down for a lot of the time, it needed much more sport exhibitors and careers represented, e.g. physio's stand showing mannikin muscles or an activity or task to do.
(the activity at the end was good as part of the science talk)
Would suggest a seminar hall and a seperate exhibitors and Careers hall to explore between seminars

Fantastic event with various sports professionals supporting young people in their pathway in the industry. Excellent talks and workshops. Stalls with Q and A to support curious students.

Careers in Sport are ambitious to help young people find a route into sport. Harvey and his team work so hard and understand how to interact and engage with young people.

Day gives a good insight into the types of careers that are out there in the Sports industry. As an exhibitor from the University of Brighton it gave me the opportunity to speak with students about their next steps to follow the path of Sport into Higher Education. They could see what careers this would lead to. The keynote speakers gave them the feeling of what these careers are like.

The venue and logistics through Brighton FC and the foundation was excellent. Harvey and the contributors really made the day with the variety of key skills, tips and a recognition of the opportunities for the pupils in an ever growing industry. Very supportive atmosphere and an encouragement to discuss and ask questions.

They had outstanding facilities to be held in, excellent communication, learnt a lot of lessons about sport. Lots of choice for careers.

Great day, with good guest speakers, good insight into how to network from different sporting back grounds & good potential employment stalls

As a Careers Adviser working with young individuals in schools and colleges, I found the event to be incredibly positive and inspiring. The speakers delivered motivating career stories, offered valuable advice to those trying to break into the industry, and provided insights on building a career in the sports industry. I appreciated the focus on overcoming internal barriers; however, I would have liked to have seen more discussion on accessing opportunities in sports and addressing external and systemic barriers. Additionally, I hoped to connect with a greater number of exhibitors. Although those present were very friendly, and helpful. I look forward to the next event and hopefully gaining specific information about training routes and access to sport industries, particularly for those young people with special educational needs, disabilities and learning difficulties.

I enjoyed the variety of talks. A lot of them were very relatable. I’m usually I person who speaks a lot and asks a lot of questions, however I went in to the event wanting to simply listen to people who know what there doing within the industry.
Overall a great experience and I will definitely be attending more

My friends and I attended what was the first university Careers in Sport talk held at Headingley stadium. It was an engaging, insightful day with numerous lessons and pieces of advice taken away.

The day was well organised with a timetable of speakers. All staff and speakers were welcoming and explained in great deal what they were about/ how they got to where they are today.

As well as this, the speakers and staff were interactive and helped us engage to get a greater insight into the conversation topics.

Everyone was open to help with any questions anyone had and provided in depth answers.

It was really good the staff and the people there was very welcoming and it was very helpful for me as a sports coach student in university. It allowed me to learn, reflect and grow as a person and get out of my comfort zone whilst also planning for my future.
