Friendly staff

Friendly staff. Great service. There was an initial hiccup with the description of the car I thought I was renting, which was not Carhood's fault. As a result, they upgraded me to a better vehicle at no extra charge.

CARHOOD IS A SCAM

CARHOOD IS A SCAM. NO PAYMENT. NO RESPONSE.
Please do not leave your vehicle with carhood. They do not pay money and don't reply to emails or calls. Looks like I am not the only one who has been be disappointed and has not received payment.

In my case Carhood owes me $3294.00 car…

In my case Carhood owes me $3294.00 car sharing fees, for which they have provided me with an earnings statement. This debt remains unpaid since two months ago. So this forms the basis of my following comments.

In the media it is being reported that Carhood is selling shares with the spin about it being for expansion. In my view only a fool would buy shares in this company because when this story hits the media. These shares will be worth nothing because their reliance on scamming car owners will be stopped. In my opinion this company is very badly managed. So no matter how many shares they successfully sell under false pretences. They will be suffering liquidation before to much longer. It is very clear to me that the new CEO salary is being given a clear priority before paying car owners.

Non Payment and No compensation on damages

Its been more than a month now since picking up my car and i have yet to receive payment on it!!
Furthermore the car had been damaged with them claiming it is normal wear and tear and that it was going to happen sooner or later. The weatherstrips on driver side window and rear passenger is either missing or almost ripped right off!!

NO PAYMENT

Shocking Service from this Company. Worst Service in AUSTRALIA.

Car was rented out for 6 Months with them. Collected Car in Nov 2018 and still have not received Payment. AVOID AVOID AVOID!

Service is a Joke. Terrible Response to emails or calls. Non stop fighting to try get anywhere.

NO PAYMENT NO RESPONSE

Rented out my car for 6 weeks during Xmas and January 2019. 2 months after picking up my car and I’m STILL waiting on payment, not to mention a response, even the slightest acknowledgment that my emails are being read. Called the customer service line, spoke to some guy in the Philippines perhaps called Jules. Completely unsympathetic and kept reciting the process. The complaints process is laughable - I was advised to take my complaint to the support@carhood email address. The SAME email address that I’ve had no success with. He was no help whatsoever. I asked whether late payment or payment being withheld was a common thing - he said not really. Judging by the other reviews on here I’d say it’s all this business does! Furthermore my car came back with a crack to the windshield. Still waiting to get this repaired!

Expect to get paid by renting out your vehicle with Carhood? Think again.

I have rented my vehicle out twice now to Carhood twice and both times I have had a terrible experience.

Firstly, let me start by saying Carhood appears to be run differently by 2 separate departments; Carhood at the pick up and drop off center, and Jules and Mark in the admin office. The guys at the drop off location (my experience Tullamarine) were great. They washed my car, dropped me off and collected me at the airport and couldnt have been more helpful. The problem lied when I needed to get paid.

I rented my vehicle for a month in Oct 2018. Upon collection everything was fine. You are promised you would get paid a month after you picked up your vehicle. Fast forward to the promised date in question and nothing was received. It took me 3 weeks to chase payment and instead of paying me to my nominated bank account they decided to pay via paypal using my email address which I never gave authority to do. This email address is registered to the UK and they paid in AUD so I was immediately charged fees. I rang Carhood and spoke to a very unsympathetic Jules, who spoke to me in between chomping on his lunch (very professional) who said there is nothing they could do and the payment has already been made. I demanded to speak to his manager Mark and I was promised a call back but never received.

I weighed up the fact that I had free parking and a professional clean so I decided to take a hit on the cost and put it down to maybe a one off error on Carhoods part. My car is a 2017 model so I estimate they made at least $1000 from renting my car out.

I decided to give them another chance so I booked my car out for a week over the New Year 2019 period. No problems collecting my vehicle. The vehicle was cleaned and they collected me from the airport. Once again this where the problem started. It's now the 12 March and I have not received my money after I was promised it on the 7th Feb. I have rang multiple times and each time Jules (And also Mark) have promised me that its been passed to their financial department. Mark also promised me an email with an update on Monday but nothing has been received.

They don't seem to have a problem taking money from the renters but have an issue paying the people who have rented out their car. To anyone who is interested in renting their vehicle to Carhood. I wouldn't bother. It is not worth the time and effort chasing your money. If you arent bothered about the money and just want free parking and a clean car on your return. Go for it. Just don't expect any help when you contact the office if you expect payment.

Scam

I have not been paid for listings made over 9 months ago and Carhood have consistently avoided responding to my emails and calls in relation to the matter. To date, there have been no attempts to reimburse me, which I find extremely disappointing and shows a complete lack of respect for their customers.

SUPER LATE PAYMENT!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICES

Good concept for regular travellers. Loved it at first but always late payments. I got my car there 3 times and only got 1 payment and still chasing the other 2 which is about half a year late now. I have sent over excessive amount of email but always reply with their normal template as “following it up” or not reply at all. Went to see customer service in the office, they say they can’t do anything, I have to escalate with their accountants.
P/s: if anyone use it, make sure you have the travel date right. I got charge $25 for parking1 day, even though my flight was delay.

My Car is a possible right off and owed $300 in earnings for 7 months

They owe me $300 now. My car is a right off due to hail damage that they claim isn't covered in their 35 mil insurance cover. Hub caps ripped off and zip tied back on. Brisbane operations people on the ground have been good but they are just as frustrated as I am with the complete lack of costumer service and correspondence from their claims and support departments as I am. This has been ongoing for Over 7 months now. ACCC and Office of fair trading have been informed. I'm at wits end with it

Not great

I’ve given my car to car hood twice now to rent out. Both times I had no issues with them getting me to and from the airport. Their delay in payments and correspondence however is lacking immensely. Definitely room for improvement. Not very customer-centric.

If I could rate -10 I would

If I could rate -10 I would. Do not book with Carhood, it’s just not worth it. Been waiting for 40 minuets for a driver to pick us from the airport. The car we got had a horrible small and was full of scratches.
we have called Carhood the day before our return and informed them we will be arriving at 9am the day after to return the car and that we need someone to take us back to the airport at 9am. Arrived at 9am and had no one to take us back as it’s “too early in the morning” according to the receptionist. She said we can wait 15 minuets for the driver to take us to the airport. the driver arrived after 20 minuets and was in the office talking and laughing with the receptionist another 20 minuets before taking to the airport. Clearly she didn’t care we were there waiting.
Both receptionists we have met were roud and unprofessional. Poor customer service. Would not recommend it to my worst enemy. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY

I have been using Carhood in Brisbane for over a year now and have always found the staff courteous and respectful. Nothing is ever a problem they always on time both ends of the journey.
I use their service twice a month and highly recommend the staff here.

Dishonest, rude and unprofessional from start to finish

This outfit is plain dishonest. Rented a car at Sydney airport. Firstly, they aren’t at the airport. They said their shuttle driver didn’t turn up, so told me to take a cab, and they would pay. They didn’t, so that was $50 I didn’t expect to pay. I sent 5 or 6 emails chasing the refund, eventually including Steve Johnson the CEO. He didn’t bother to reply, which tells me he doesn’t care what people think.

Carhood isn’t even a car rental company. They do car sharing - that is, these are private cars, left at the airport while the owners are away, and Carhood agrees to rent them out on behalf of the owners. If I’d known this, I would have booked another firm.

Finally, when I returned the car, they weren’t even bothered to inspect it, stating “according to our terms and conditions, we’ve got 2 hours to do that”. Nor did they provide transport to the airport.

Oh, another thing - their site in Botany is a disused carpark, their toilets, apart from being a disgrace, had sheets of A4 stuck all over with a warning that was so full of profanity that I wasn’t allowed to include it in this review even if I replace those words with asterisks - let’s try something else: “If ya xxxx on the seat, clean it up ya xxxxxxx xxxx”. That’s a nice way to run a business. Never again.

Non Payment to Car Owners

I'm a fan of the entrepreneurial concept of car sharing and believe the model is a good one. I have rented out my car 4 times and received payment the first 2 times but since then nothing. They are very friendly by email, but non-payment is not acceptable when they have received payment from the renter. Unfortunately they refuse to even give out the phone number of Accounts, so there's nothing you can do. I think I'm going to have to report them to the Fair Trading. Feel free to rent from them, but don't give them your car.
