be ware! this company will steal money from you if you don't take full insurance from them. I declined their insurance because I have Collision Damage covered by my credit card company.
They asked me when I took the car back, for another: 200 EURO!!!

Really happy i got here, after many companies. They have only new cars and low cost prices. Really nice counter staff and very sanitized cars.

My car rental return on 06/10/2020 at Bucharest airport was a really bad experience. During the rental, everything went well and I know I did not touch anything with the car. On the return, the Caroutis employee goes to have a quick look inside the car, says "all well inside". Then start to go around the car and stops at the right rear wheel was he identifies some damaged that is not marked on the previous report. The mark on the wheel is from parking and does not look to me that can be done by others when the car was already parked. I know that I didn't park "parallel to footpath" on this side and I didn't do this damage. The rental period was only 4 days. The guy not even finishes his walk around and just said "this isn't in the previous report". The report he has in hands has only 4 damaged spots, and at the car pick-up stage (4 days before) another 4 damaged spots are identified by myself and mark by hand on my report copy from the Caroutis employee. However, there haven't been added to the company report that was showed to me at the end of the contract. Actually the damage on the right rear wheel was also not identified by myself at the pick-up stage, like probably many other small damages if you have a careful look around and not at night time with a poor light place as it was would have been identified. The car has much more damages than are reported and I feel they take this chance to make extra money on the rental. They charged me 200€ for the damage that I know I didn't and for sure they could do the same on the following rentals since the are at least another four identified damages by myself on the pick-up stage that aren't included on the car's report. I feel stolen (200€) and this company's behaviors must be investigated and penalized.

I rented a car from Cluj Napoca airport. Because their office is not exactly in the airport, they waited for me with a sign and took me by car to their location (2 minutes away). Everyone was very friendly and explained everything I needed to know in detail. The car was new (from 2019) and clean.
The dropoff was very smooth as well. Thank you!

Caroutis Timisoara: what an experience – a very bad one. Avoid at all costs.

I would not recommend nor use their service, they have untrained people with 0 customer service, very poor coordination with rentalcars and very tricky and hidden fees.

My experience with them:

After a long trip few hours (buses, train, airplane – almost 8hrs) now the story at Caroutis “rental office”.

Arrived at their desk to collect the car. The lady (Larisa) there was busy doing her makeup. She definitely didn’t want to be at work or at least not at a job where customer service skills are required. More or less the feeling and atmosphere were exactly the opposite as they should be – us(clients) working at Caroutis and their lady was the customer taking care of her, maybe there was beauty hour for their personnel and client interfered with it.

Seeing this I knocked on the door asking if I can enter as I have a car booked through rentalcars with Caroutis.

I’ve presented my booking details along with all the necessary documents for booking.
She gave me loads of paper to sign, asking in the same time for some additional details which were not mentioned in the booking details from Rentalcars.

Very tricky person. She tried to sell me an additional insurance for an additional almost 230 euro although I told her that I have a full insurance with rentalcars.
Well this was the point when she tried her best tricks by showing a long list with additional prices for anything that happens to the car. I said that’s fine, you have my deposit and I have full insurance so she doesn’t have to worry.

Now that she saw I’m not buying this additional insurance she said there are some additional charges for drop off – this was not mentioned on Rentalcars.
Additional charge 10euro for out of hours (Saturday). I said ok nothing wrong here and understood, as this has happened previously with few other car rental companies.

Now after 15-20 minutes of going through the papers and wasting time she told me that she doesn’t have the car that I’ve booked.
Really… after 15 minutes she is saying this. I ask her if this is a joke as I’m not in the mood for this after a long trip..
She said no, this is a free upgrade you will receive a bigger car 7 seater. I said to her that I need a smaller car actually as the one I’ve booked or even smaller as I will use the car mostly in the city.

After another few minutes she said there is nothing I can do is either take it or leave it. I have asked her for an alternative car and she said they only have 2 cars available at their location, both booked.

Went to see the car, and in the meantime, I called Caroutis main office to ask if there is any chance for a replacement, and they told me no, not for that day. In the meantime, went back in the office, and the lady was getting ready to leave the office telling me that she already cancelled the booking, she then closed the office and left as nothing has ever happened.
Called their main office asking for help and they told me since I’m not a direct customer to them and coming through an intermediate company (rentalcars) they can’t help me anymore.

I was desperate to find another car, called rentalcars explaining the situation and they eventually found another car but I had to pay more than double the price that I’ve paid initially for this one.
No regrets in paying more as the other company proved to be reliable with professional customer service.
