These guys mugged me for 15 quid. I only wanted and paid for one car history check but was charged 15 GBP again next month for no reasons. Someone should report these guys to small claims court !

NOT GOOD

Used Gold Service , came back as " Not Clear - vehicle on Police stolen list "

Police unhelpful - would not clarify vehicle status Data Protection act , recommended contact DVLA. Contacted DVLA would only speak to registered vehicle owner! what chance do you have ?

Emailed car statuscheck via email [ no telephone contact available ] Zilch 24 hours later no contact ?

Turns out the private number plate on the vehicle was previously on another vehicle owned by the vendor in 1999 ! and was reported as stolen then [ still on the register today.

Therefore unclear report and no response to enquiry regarding report. Negative Feedback

Made me buy the car!

Very detailed report which highlighted something which turned out to be unimportant but I was happy it was brought to my attention. The information contained in the report led to me purchasing the car.

Not value for money

When I checked out the car I was going to buy it came back as an Insurance write off however I didn't tell me would category the write off came under. Most car checks tell you the category off a write off so you know roughly how bad the damage was. So I was not impressed as I paid for the Gold Check and expected it to tell me the category off the write off. However due to the fact that it was a write off I am no longer buying this car.

worth every penny

I would recommend this service to anyone, it took only 5 minutes of my time and the result came back immediately. Luckily the car i was checking was fine but if there had been a problem i would've known before buying it, i will use this service for all future car purchases.

Cheap peace of mind and quick to use but how it works could be clearer

For £12 the peace of mind of doing the full check and having a guarantee is definitely worth it. My only negative is that as I started completing the information I was asked for information I did not have to hand (eg Chassis number). I was concerned I would not be able to complete the activation and would lose my money and was irritated by the thought this might be a deliberate ploy but it turns out you could complete the activation later. I think this needs to be clearer in the earlier pages to avoid customer frustration. Overall though I was very happy and can sleep easy despite handing over a considerable sum of money to someone I have never met.....

Excellent site!

I found the site easy to navigate and it provided all of the information I needed quickly. I was making an offer based on the results of a basic HPI check, and needed the information briskly and without fuss; the site did this, and I cannot complain.

We are sorry to hear you were not happy the service and we appreciate your comments. Unfortunately, at the time when you carried out your check it allowed you to proceed even though no vehicle details were returned. Shortly after this, we updated our website to ensure this no longer happens. As such, we would like to offer you a full refund for the inconvenience. If you can send an email to statuscheck@hpi.co.uk with your contact details, we can arrange that for you.

No valuation; no common faults. Only worth the upgrade if you need HPI check.

Basic check is very good value. In my particular case the next tier up wasn't!

Thank you for your review. In regards to the upgrade, are you referring to the valuation service? If a valuation is not returned, you will not be charged. If I have misunderstood, please can you send an email with further information to info@carstatuscheck.co.uk so that we can look into this further.

Advertised for half price but charged full amount. Not impressed at all!!!

Very detailed report. Not liking a misleading price, advertising for half the price but charged full amount on receipt.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear you are not happy with the service. Our checks start at £2.99 and we offer three different levels of checks. I can see that you purchased the Platinum Check which is our premium service and provides additional data such as financial information, a guarantee and a V5 check. The different levels of our service and the costs are detailed once a vehicle registration number is entered, and also before purchase.

An (almost) excellent product, with just one niggle

The check results were clear and easy to understand, but did not include the bike's frame number so I couldn't check it immediately when I inspected the bike. I ended paying a deposit anyway (either that or possibly lose the sale to someone else) and just hoped that when I got home to complete the validity check with the frame number that I found on the bike that it would be correct. I can understand why the number was not shown on the report but a reasonable compromise I feel would be to show just the last 6 digits of the number to give a possible clue at the inspection as to whether there might be a problem.

NOTE- If I had had a smartphone with internet access with me when I carried out the inspection I could have completed the validity check while standing next to the bike - and awarded a full five stars for this review.

Confirmation for peace of mind

We had recieved the log book for the car we bought for our daughter as when it was advertised and we decided ti buy the car after viewing it and having the test drive, the purchaser offered to drive it to our home roughly 12 miles away. I checked the mot but when I suggested my daughter go with her dad to take the purchaser home, he said she dosen't have to sign it as he would see to it. i thought that maybe he knew best and my daughter did not have to sign the log book! So when we recieved the log book in the post I was grateful to have the evidence in black and white and to my horror the car was a cat c' . I would not of minded if the purchaser was honest as my own car is a cat c through an accident which was not my fault. So yes a small amount of money for peace of mind in black and white.
