good cheap basic service at £4.95 but need to get the higher level if the bike/car was more value BUT EVEN ON A CHEAP BASIC SERVICE SHOULD SAY IF ITS ON FINANCE

Without the report from Car Status Check, we would never have known that the Ford Focus was a CAT C vehicle.Although we still purchased the car the report allowed us to negotiate a far better deal

Very Useful - A must for all car buyers. £5 cheaper then the RAC / AA and the report was instantly e-mailed to me.

Remember to action the guarantee with the V5 document details once you purchased the car.

As a first time user i was pretty impressed with the site UNTIL I tried to get the guarantee. There was an apparent problem reconciling the VIN number and the registration number of the vehicle. There may well be a problem here but I wasn't made aware that there is a strict limit on the number of times that you can enter the details (unless it's in the small print). As it is, I've paid my money and am left wondering if there is a problem with the vehicle or just a transcription error on my, or the seller's part. If there was some warning of the limited number of times I could try to verify things to get a guarantee I would have acted differently. I notice some other people are also less impressed with the guarantee side of the service!

I normally buy cars on E-bay and leave it until the last 30 minutes to bid seriously if the price is within my budget. At that point I have used other providers. Yesterday I tried your service and on most cars I had the report e-mailed to me in time to make a final bid. One car had a record which I needed to communicate to the seller as it was not disclosed and was giving an inflated value of the vehicle. I lost buying the car at the correct value and another buyer has paid too much for a car with an HPI record. Why is there a 10 minute gap from the time the report appears on my screen and when I get a pdf copy? Also, is there a way of buying a bundle rather than having to key in the same data on each application?
