Avoid this letting agency if possible

Avoid this letting agency if possible. Incredibly vague with details, lots of miscommunication and very slow to process deposits and paperwork. Paid a deposit, submitted lots of paperwork and then heard nothing back until we were suddenly told that someone else was going to take the flat unless we paid more, basically extortion as this shouldn't really be allowed as it negates the purpose of a holding deposit. When we moved in we were only provided with one key, and after two weeks of asking, they eventually got round to giving us another, only after I highlighted that failing to do so may constitute breach of contract as it was essentially withholding access to a property and facilities that we were currently paying for.
When it came time to leave the property, they did not have their own key and therefore requested that we take time out of work to be at the flat so that they could conduct viewings, which is ridiculous as this is not the job or obligation of the current tenant and they cannot be expected to take time out of their working life to assist the letting agent in performing their job. This was a recurrent theme throughout whereby things that were the responsibility of the letting agent or landlord had to be either prompted by or entirely done by us as the tenants. Charged us an excessive cleaning bill with no details/breakdown of the cleaning that was actually provided. Shocking experience from start to finish. Would avoid.

Avoid this rental agency (Victoria branch) if you can.
Our experience with them was extremely disappointing. The agency appears to prioritise landlords’ interests entirely and shows very little concern for tenants’ wellbeing or fair treatment.
During our tenancy, we experienced three separate water leaks in different rooms, which took over two and a half years to resolve. Despite this, the agency refused any rent reduction, seemingly more focused on ensuring the landlord did not have to spend money on proper repairs.
When we first moved in, the boiler was not functioning. During the repairs the engineer had to turn off the gas. That is when we discovered that the wrong gas meter was assigned to our flat. We immediately informed Century21, but they offered no assistance whatsoever. It took us over a year to get the correct gas meter reference linked to our property.
The agency later introduced a flashy online “tenant dashboard” for reporting maintenance issues, but it was never properly monitored. Problems logged there were routinely ignored.
The worst experience came at the end of the tenancy. We received multiple harassing reminder emails about professional cleaning and key returns, even though the flat had been in a filthy state when we moved in—so much so that our cleaner spent hours just to make it livable. Thankfully, we documented everything with photos and videos when moving in and before moving out.
Ten days after checkout, we received a report with nearly £1,000 in proposed deductions from our deposit. Upon review, we found serious errors, including charges for missing items such as a £40 BT modem, which we had clear evidence of leaving behind. Some items were even hidden in closets, yet we were still being charged for them. This felt outright dishonest.
When we moved in, the flat had been cluttered with personal belongings and in poor condition. The original agent—who has since left Century21—agreed that many items should be removed due to their state. We eventually initiated a full deposit refund claim through the DPS. Shockingly, almost a month later, the agency produced a second checkout report, something we have never encountered before.
We wrote to the regional director to raise these serious concerns, but he ignored multiple emails and did not return our calls. Only after we reached him through another cell phone did he finally pickup and listen. After explaining the situation in detail—and confirming that the former agent supported our account—the landlords eventually agreed to refund the full deposit.
Overall, our experience with Century21 Victoria was marked by neglect, poor communication, and questionable business practices. I strongly advise future tenants to avoid this agency altogether.

Cheap and unprofessional

Century 21 Heston is full of unprofessional and unethical behaviour. They make sure they empty their customers pocket to feed their greediness. Had a pathetic experience. No services on time, wrong language usage and finally eating the deposit like hungry....... I wish I could fill this gap with the name of something unprofessional word

Daniel the manager unprofessional

Dan the ‘manager’ at century 21 Liverpool south unprofessional, rents houses out with shit stains on the toilet and holes in doors, and has audacity to charge out of the deposit for leaving some pots in the garden and not trimming the front garden bushes. Also takes out a cleaning fee with no cleaning receipts or photos because the house was spotless unlike when moved in. Pictures were taken by us of how the house was left. Avoid, also harass tenants and threatens with ccj if don’t move out in time for house sale with no legal grounds to threaten this. Screen shots of threatening and pushy emails asking why my parents are waiting for council/housing association home as they won’t get one with my dad earning. Absolute bullshit

They are very unprofessional

They are very unprofessional . They asked me come at exact time for the viewing ( not flexible) but they didn’t show up at all in the location.
They didn’t even picked up my call. Worst costumer service ever.

Communication is absolutely terrible

Also known as Symonds and Greenaway at least in Peterborough. They very rarely answer their phone. You can leave messages for them to call back, but they won't call you back. When you do speak to them, they will tell you they'll call you back with information on a property you inquired about... they will not. They do not reply to emails. Communication is just terrible all around.

Eventually after about 12 attempts, we were able to visit a property. The person was caught in traffic and she was very kind, but despite registering my interest in the property we were shown, we didn't hear anything further. No email, which we'd agreed to.

Another property appeared, and once again they don't answer the phone. After about 5 attempts, someone finally answered. Agreed to call back with info on a property. They didn't call back obviously.

Not sure what's going on but they clearly don't want people's business.

Illegal eviction! And all belongings disposed

Moved into a studio flat in Bedford at the beginning of October. Signed an assured shorthold tenancy agreement. I went away on the 22nd of to December to spend with family. I came back to the property in the 3rd of January. The hotel style keycard would not let me into the flat. I called Fiona (Aka Amna) who is the wife of the landlords son and acting as an agent. Fiona answered my call and After explaining my situation. She started to laugh and then started to swear . I explained I've got nowhere to go it's 9pm she just swore and like laughed like a child. She then told me all my belongings were thrown in the bin a week ago I checked and didn't see any belongings. . I've been made homeless with no legal prossess followed. Ally possessions thrown in the bin and unrecoverable.
I am in the process of starting legal proceeding again Samsons limited and century21 ltd.

I have contacted as a professional on behalf of a tenant, initially answered my call and then refused to answer any calls or messages, has been reported to the police for harassment and discrimination, withholding access to the gas and electric meter for tenants. Extremely corrupt.

Paulina at Century 21 Goodmayes has been very good since they took over management. Fast, efficient and via the whatsapp group she started always on call.

Recommendations suggested passed onto the landlord to improve and save him money.

All in all can ask for much more 9/10

I have had the best experience ever

I have had the best experience with century 21. We went through the worst nightmare especially going through the interest hike.

Perry has been phenomenal a big asset to the company. He helped us through out the way and Lisa she has been ever so kind keeping us up to date with everything and make sure everything goes smoothly. I would highly recommend to go with century 21 the best in the business. 10 out of 10 💯

I rented an ensuite room at the university court. Living there was a nightmare for the following reasons:

1. They didn't do background check on the other tenants and ended up living next door to highly disturbed stalker room mate who ended up destroying his own flat and the police called to evict him.
2. people are allowed to smoke in the flats
3. If anything breaks down they dont repair it. We went for weeks with no hot water and we didnt get compensation.
4. Everytime you call them soon as you sign the contract they keep passing you to other colleagues without resolving the issue.

on the january 2023 i gave email1 m notice to leave the accommodation. The property manager called asking if i can move out sooner so that someone else moves in and i will get reimbursed on my 1 m notice rent. I agreed and moved out. However until now i have not received my money back. My flat mates and the agency confirmed someone moved into my room a week after i left. Unfortunately Daniela Dacosta, Ben Symonds, Curtis the property manager have been giving me a run around and still my money is not refunded we are now in March despite many emails, calls and walking into the agency. I have hired a lawyer and will pursue the agency via small claims court as i need the money i work hard for back. I am shocked at the way the agency has treated me and they have put me in financial difficulty causing my depression. Further more they have also not refunded my deposit despite requesting it vis DBS. please do not rent from them.

Enquired about a rental which was…

Enquired about a rental which was advertised as pets accepted, phoned up, sorry no pets accepted. Passed through to another person, he said the landlord would allow 1 cat, but wouldn't check if he would accept 2. Very dismissive, very rude, felt like I was committing a crime or something by enquiring. After the phone call, the ad changed within 5 minutes and removed pets allowed! Even though they said 1 would be allowed. So they are robbing people with pets of opportunities, not because landlords don't mind, because they do.

This is discrimination. Clearly the landlord is happy with pets, but they don't want enquires or to allow people with pets to rent through them. Felt like they were just making up stuff as they went alone.

Do better! Be better! If this is not, it should be illegal.

Avoid

Just recently rented a property with century 21 (peterborough) trying to get Information, housing issues sorted or even trying to talk to the one person you need to is impossible. Everyone just fobs you off you wait days for a call back or reply. I regret getting a rental through this company and at the point i have been moved in a week and ready to find a new house due to the service. It's shocking.

As unable to reply on here, it isn't just the contractor, its everyone, I understand we're at Xmas time and it's a busy time for them but a little bit of out their way communication wouldn't go far, or an email to say I've received your query I will get back to you as soon as I'm avaliable but they don't, they leave you hanging for hours and even days.
