Awful customer service

Wow I came in here after having a bad experience with sales staff for lettings. Rude, no customer service at all! They even gave me complaints number and e-mail as if they didn’t really care. So feel as no point of complaining as judging by all the comments both in hs is going to happen.

Greedy and rude staff, broke the contract

I hope this review is helpful to some, especially young people moving out for the first time. Sorry it’s so long, but that’s how awful Peterborough's Century 21 is. This company have failed me time and time again. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and bite my tongue because I was so excited to just move out of my family home and gain some independence, I saw everything through rose tinted glasses.

I arrived at my room in my shared accommodation on the 4th of July 2022, where I found dirty skirting boards (literally layers of dirt and dust), cobwebs in every corner, stains on the carpet, a horrible paint job, a bathroom ceiling literally peeling off, a door that doesn’t shut properly, and numerous other things. These are all things that absolutely should’ve been sorted before my tenancy started, but I ignored it, I enjoy cleaning, so I was happy to do that myself. The other things weren’t extreme but just made my living situation a bit dingy considering I was paying £525 a month for a house share with that much wrong with it…

Anyway, I carried on trying to enjoy my tenancy despite these factors, until I became aware of contractors viewing my room without my knowledge, (which is very illegal). Someone let it slip on the phone to me that they had been there while I was at work, nobody had bothered to make me aware of this. I am a 19-year-old girl who very much values my privacy, so to have men in my room without my knowledge made me very uncomfortable. All I got back from Century21 was them shifting the blame to the contractor company. Proceeding this awful experience, I asked Curtis and Ben to contact my landlord to see if I could get my tenancy ended early, as C21 had now broken the contract by letting someone into my room without my knowledge. It took a few weeks for someone to actually be bothered to give me an answer from my landlord, even after me offering to contact them myself, leaving me to pay another month rent when all I wanted to do is be rid of this company and the broken house I lived in.

While I spent my last month in the accommodation there was a tap leak (the tap was broken the whole time I lived there but this was the first time it leaked into cupboards) the leak ruined all the food I had in my cupboards and some kitchen supplies I had in there too. I received no apology for my inconvenience.

During the time my room was being viewed by potential tenants there was a few times people would view my room without my knowledge. I know this because I came home from work once and there were still 2 viewing lefts on the room when I was only aware of one happening that morning (not at 3pm) … For the first viewing that was arranged with myself and one of the team for Saturday 10th September, I didn’t end up being home for the viewing when I said I would be. There was an emergency which meant I had to be elsewhere, however when I told Curtis on the phone that I wasn’t there he sighed at me and explained he didn’t bring any keys to the property, like its my job? When I apologised for this, he cut me off and put the phone down without saying anything. I remember being infuriated at the attitude, but I let it slide because I didn’t want to talk with C21 about anything but my tenancy at this point.

Since leaving the room, C21 have now tried to deduct £55 from my £250 deposit because “there was a stain on the carpet, and the bathroom and bedroom was left very, very dirty”. Anyone who has seen the state of that room when I first moved in can vouch for me that the room was cleaner when I lived in it/after I left than when I first moved in (and the stain was already there, a family member even mentioned it to someone) . Curtis stated in an email prior to my move out date, that the room be cleaned, but only so it’s not in a worse state than what it was when I moved in. I spent an hour cleaning every visible bit in that room, however because I missed a tap, a plug and left a hair on the wall in the shower they feel the need to take £55 off me.

This company is greedy, rude and has absolutely no care for their customers. Century 21 made my first time moving out a miserable one and I wish only bad things for them as it really is one mistake after another with them. I got no sincere apology and probably never will. I’ve worked with customers before so I know exactly what kind of person I seem to them because they will not be able to see how awful they really are. I’m so disappointed with the slow/lack of communication I’ve had with them let alone the contract they broke and tried to blame on someone else.

Don’t use this company

Don’t use this company. Their dishonesty with invoicing when challenged resulted in an unprofessional response from a very rude woman.

Century 21 Bedford is a scam

Century 21 in Bedford is ran by a scam lord not a landlord, they steal deposits, refuse to provide heating. They will happily illegally let flats with damp, mould and fungus growing in the floors. They refuse to repair anything properly and don't use qualified people to do the repairs.

I’m purchasing a property through…

I’m purchasing a property through Century 21 in Peterborough and I have to say they are indeed incompetent and rude. The communication is the worst I’ve ever experienced with estate agents. Since my viewing and then subsequent acceptance of offer back on 2/3 Feb I’ve had no communication from them at all. Only when I’ve called have I managed to get some answers to my questions. Really disappointed at being treated this way especially with snarky comments from some of the staff.

The manager and employees at century 21…

The manager and employees at century 21 are a bunch of rude, incompetant , money grabbers. They tried to charge me £1008 when I left my property. My property was left in excellent condition. New kitchen floor. New living room carpets. Do not rent a property from this company. That is so so bad what they tried to do to me.

I genuinely felt like I was in a tv…

I genuinely felt like I was in a tv show where I was being pranked, worst business I’ve ever dealt with.

We arranged a viewing for 5pm on Thursday with Ben, my partner and I took time off work for it. We arrived at 4:50pm to view a two bed flat in maidstone. 5:05pm - still no sign of Ben. We called the office, they told us he was doing another viewing and would be with us shortly.

5:30pm, after waiting outside for 40 minutes at 4 degrees, we called the office back. I was met with a rude and dismissive older woman who tried to tell me he was showing another flat at 5:15pm and we were after, which was a lie as we were booked at 5pm and had been outside since 4:50pm. I explained that was impossible as we were there at 4:50pm and she abruptly put me on hold for about 5 minutes.

Eventually she came back to tell me Ben had been called away suddenly because another property that had ‘broken locks’ so he had to rush over there to call out a locksmith to fix it. 1. Why would he need to be there to meet a locksmith? - how would that help the situation unless he is also a locksmith?
2. He didn’t even bother to call us or the office to let us know he couldn’t make the viewing. It seemed like an obvious lie and we still can’t make sense of it now. The woman did apologise and offered us another viewing for 12:30 on Saturday. We reluctantly agreed.

12:20 Saturday: we turned up and saw Ben take another couple into the apartment. 12:28 - Ben came out of the flats, got in his car and drove off. We got out of our car to try flag him down. He stopped, got out and asked us if we were going to view a flat.

He did not apologise for wasting almost two hours of our day on Thursday or even acknowledge it happened. He admitted he forgot he was booked in with us for another viewing on Saturday and was leaving.

He then showed us the property and continued to lie throughout the viewing, first claiming the property just needed a ‘tidy’, then once we got in the door and saw how disgusting it was he said he’d not seen the property, then said that others had turned down the property in recent viewings because of the state of it (he also told us we were the first to view the property). It honestly seemed like he thought we were stupid and had no memory of what he said previously to the point I thought we were being pranked.

I have never seen as estate agent company act so unprofessionally in my entire life and encourage everyone to be cautious about using them to rent or buy in the Maidstone area.

I dealt with Sunny from Goodmayes…

I dealt with Sunny from Goodmayes branch and found him very helpful throughout. From viewing the property within one hour we had gone to the office done credit check and all other paperwork deposit etc. He said a new kitchen would be fitted in 5 days plus all other jobs and it was even better than I hoped.
Great service all round.

Awful and unprofessional

Awful. Arranged a viewing. Called up the day before to check the viewing was still going ahead and was told that it was. I arrived at the property, waited over an hour calling the office. It went straight to answering machine. Next day no apologies - nothing! Completely unprofessional and a waste of time. Avoid at all costs.

Appalling service

Appalling service. Called them four times over a one week period to arrange a viewing. Each time they said they would get someone to call me back. They didn’t and not once apologised for the poor service. Sent an email complaint to their head office but had no reply to this either. Have now given up trying to view this property.

The private landlord didn’t even get…

The private landlord didn’t even get my roof fixed when I told him it’s leaking this was before Christmas and it’s still leaking now and there damp there too now and I told him on the 24th July 2021 am giving the property up and now he’s expecting me to have all my stuff out and he’s on about changing the locks am not happy at all

Left awaiting an answer

Wanted to view a property they had for rent, we have a pet and just wanted to know if the owners would allow. Never got an answer, just ignored - RUDE. This then makes you wonder if you did rent from them and needed assistance how quickly they'd react. Even if a call to us had said we cannot get an answer to your question from the owners at least that would of been better than being ignored. Based on this I'd say avoid - Peterborough branch.
