Chantry Vets has been providing veterinary care to the pets of West Yorkshire for more than 60 years. Initially based in Wakefield Town Centre, we have expanded into one of the area’s largest Small Animal practices. We have 7 branches located across West Yorkshire in Wakefield, Middleton, Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton & Great Houghton. Our branches are supported by our main Hospital at Brindley Way in Wakefield. We initially moved from our headquarters at Gills Yard, Wakefield, to Alverthorpe in 2012, but later outgrew this site also. We opened our flagship purpose-built hospital with state-of-the-art facilities in March 2022 to provide greater levels of service to our customers and their beloved pets. Our Gills Yard and Alverthorpe surgeries now provide first-opinion services to the local community in easily accessible locations. The practice gained hospital status in 2013; the highest level of accreditation available from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Every four years the practice undergoes rigorous inspections across all our premises.

My local vet at Great Houghton retired, Chantry now manage that practice. There isn't a vet on site daily or sometimes even weekly. We travelled to Wakefield today to collect a prescription, as there was no one at our vets to dispense it, nearly 50miles round trip. On arrival we were informed the medication wouldn't actually be available until Monday. Called our vet back to ask why they'd said it would be available to collect today, to be told they were absolutely sure that was what they'd been told to relay to us.. .. someone is not telling the truth! So in short, do not use this veterinary practice/ company if you want a reliable pet friendly service- they will gladly take your money alongside your time, cause frustration but most of all forget there is the welfare of an animal at stake!

Charged £140 for a booster shot and literally *one* flea treatment and *one* wormer.

If you're looking for a vet that cares more about your wallet than your pet, Chantry Vets might be the place. My experiences there, both old and new, have shown me they're all about charging you as much as they can, not about helping your pet.
When it's time to pay, brace yourself. The bills are high, and they're not great at explaining why you're paying so much. When submitting a claim to your insurance hope they do it properly and on time. The lack of professional experience will drag your claim forever.
In short, Chantry Vets seems to care more about making money than about taking care of your pet or making sure you're happy. My advice? Look elsewhere and find a place where your pet is treated like the family member and you, are a pet owner, treated with respect.
Our opinion of Chantry vets at Brindley Park hospital is very poor.
Our dog was kept overnight and was returned to us wet and smelly . They denied it all of course and said we had lied about it and that they give 5 star treatment to their pets ..what ...???? …Not this time they didn’t !
It was the worst worrying experience we have had at a vets . We felt strongly that they were only in it for the money . Couldn’t get their hands on our cash fast enough . Wanted £2300 upfront as we walked in for our dogs treatment .
Like most on here .. would have given zero stars but it won’t let you . I read that 75% would give this vets zero or 1% rating . That speaks volumes.!
Don’t use this vets unless you are a millionaire with money to burn and don’t care much about your pet…. . Most of us aren’t .
We have now parted ways through lack of trust .
I’d say this vets is the worst vet company in the UK .
Never never again
This practice is all about the money, no care for the animal at all, I would never use these veterinary surgeons at all, a very uncaring practice, They wouldn't put my dog on a drip when she had an accident at home, a picture fell from the wall and severed an artery, they told us they wanted £1000 before they would treat her, she was loosing blood at a fast rate, I was covered also in her blood carrying her in, we were then told we had to go to the emergency vets at wakefield, I was horrified as I knew this was at least half an hours journey, she past away because they wanted the money first, you have not held up the oath you take to care for the animals, avoid at all cost.
So we have been with Chantry vets for 5 years with our dogs. Our small dog decided to choke on a piece of camel skin which was lodged in his throat. We attended the vets seen as he was gasping for air and his lips and tongue were going blue. On route the dog was sick all over my wife so she looked a right state when she went into the vets.
When entering the vets the receptionist was just sat there without a care in the world. My wife told her the dog was chocking so she leisurely got up and went to get the vet, my wife was placed in a side room. The vet then came out to my wife and said to her "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO IM IN THE MIDDLE OF SURGERY" At this point my wife said it doesn't matter I will take my dog to the vet hospital instead and she did.
I really though vets were supposed to care about animals. I understand if she is in the middle of surgery however there were many other staff members there that could have helped. We have 4 dogs, none of which will be attending this vets again
Avoid these vets all they care about is money not the animals do not sign up to the pet plan with them took money from my account and didn’t receive the services they say they offer and because I cancelled with not been satisfied they wanted more money from disgusting
So I had pet plan which I cancelled because the massive expense with chantry I couldent keep the pet and he went to a home who could afford abd I gave him away as I loved our pet. But struggling on benefits. Chantry are hounding me for money and I went through the route I was advised. It's not for services but I cancelled a pet plan . If I used what the pet plan allowed ide understand.
