Absolute deceptions, please refrain from purchasing anything from these websites. I remitted £5.95 in March 2025, and they subsequently withdrew £39.90 in April 2026, with an attempt to debit more in... See more

Absolutely devastated
One check £5.95, then £39.90 taken from my Bank Account.
Just as I thought 2026 would bring me better luck, it lasted 6 days thanks to the Scammers.
I hope that you will never have to go through what I went through in 2025.
I can't believe that you can scoop so low. It's disgraceful how you can do this. I am not sure how you manage to sleep at night!

Don't use this company at all, they charge you full price and there's no option to cancel. I requested my subscription to be cancelled through there only contact details and they completely ignored me and I was charged full price a further two times and they haven't bothered with my refund. Bunch of SCAMMERS

As per 1713 other reviews I fell for this, paid £ 5.95 for a vehicle check then 2 days later £ 39.90 taken out of my account, the information is not clear that you are signing up for a monthly subscription, I contacted the company by email to cancel and had the standard reply with regards to its in the terms and conditions etc however what I did notice in their terms and conditions is that there is a 14 day cooling off period from the time you first request the service (luckily I was well within this). What I will say is that once the 14 day cooling off period was brought to their attention in their terms and conditions I had the amount refunded back to my account within 2 days together with an assurance that all my personal and bank details with be obfuscated from their systems, however I would not recommend this company at best their web portal is not transparent that you are signing up for a monthly subscription

Same as everyone else writing here. Happily paid for a one-off check (£5.95) in December 2024 and then they took £39.90 a couple of weeks later. Contacted my bank to block them and now, over a year later, they've taken another £39.90. They should be totally BLOCKED as a SCAM company.

Used this to check car details paid initial payment didn't see any subscription details then two days later charged £39.99! I was fuming. Why would you need a subscription?!! I was able to find a telephone number and insisted it was cancelled and insisted on an email being sent to say as much. Will make sure my bank does not make any further payments to them! Do Not Use!!!

Definitely not clear that you are signing up to a subscription service. I noticed the amount of £39.90 after the first payment came out and contacted my bank to put a stop on that payment. They have since tried to take out the same amount twice more. Do not use this company!!

paid for a car check of £5.95.
two month later notice they have taken £40 out of my account twice for a subscription I never asked for!
it wouldn't let me log into the account so had to phone them to cancel, apparently in small writing there's a notice that you auto signed up to a subscription if you don't cancel your membership in 48 hours, a membership i knew nothing about.
avoid this site set of robbing F**kers.
I wonder how many people they done this with?

Same as other reviews. I have had £39.90 taken. I did not ask for this subscription. I have emailed etc. No response. I will call my credit card company if I have not heard anything by the end of today. Update. You cannot get through on the number provided in responses from this company. No response to emails. Very unhappy about this. I have since managed to speak to someone about this but have not had any email response. There will be no refund but my subscription is cancelled. I stand by my experience. It is not clear that you are signed up for a monthly subscription. Why on earth would there be a £39.90 monthly charge for checking a new cars history,

This company is a scam. You pay your money and they take it and then say the transaction did not go through. Like others a few days later they try to take £39. Lucky for me my CC company stopped it going through. Why can’t the government take their Webb site down? Which I had read this before going ahead.

Just avoid them it is just a scam. I have been charged 2 times 39.90 just the scam

Do not use Checkmycar as a way of running a hpi check on your vehicle. They hide in the small print that they sign you up to a monthly subscription for £39.90 pm as I have just found out to my annoyance. Called my bank as I did not recognise the notification and they confirmed they have had LOTS of calls about this company. Called the company who are based in Ireland and spoke with a woman with an Eastern European accent who just kept talking over me saying no refunds and she “did not know anything” despite working there. To cancel the subscription you have to log onto their website and send an email asking to cancel, but based on my experience so far I have little hope that this will be done quickly. This company clearly knows what they are doing and it is a complete scam. Your average Joe in the street does not need to pay 39.90 per month to run hpi checks every month. BE WARNED! If I could give it zero or minus stars I would.
PS….The companies automated response on all of these reviews is nothing more than gaslighting….

Definite scan. They charged me £39.99 more than once. Just reported them to my credit card company and disputed the payment again

These crooks started taking money from my account every month without letting me know that I was subscribing to a monthly fee, for a service I only used and needed once.
I was happy to pay the initial £5.95 to check the history of one car, but then two payments of £39.90 each were taken from my account later that month and the following month.
I see that CheckMyCar have replied but their terms and conditions were buried in their website and not at all clear. No warning was given that I was being signed up to a monthly subscription, by email or any other communication route. I was using the car checking service at the side of the road on a cold dark night in the process of buying a car. It is not at all reasonable to go checking through pages of small print in on a mobile phone in those conditions.

Please Please avoid this company - the website is designed to trap you - They are unsympathetic and will never refund you. Same experience as lots of other customers.
To your reply: I'm sure everyone can see all your reviews says everything about how sorry you are. I contacted your team and you totally ignored it, still not refunded. Hope you enjoying money from people you trapped. AVOID, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE.
