Once again we were not disappointed by level of knowledge on display, selection of Gins and also a new tonic we had never tasted before. A cracking evening in all respects & we have definitely found a new 'favourite' Gin to purchase next time. On a balmy summer's evening what more can one ask for? Excellent value, and fun to match - looking forward already to another Gin-tastic event in 2019.

Thank you Richard for a fabulous evening of gin and tonic tasting on the roof terrace at 1539 on a perfect summer's evening. Your expert knowledge and relaxed approach to informing imbibers of the subtle differences between British gins and how to pair them with complementary, yet sometimes unusual mixers, was both enjoyable and enlightening.

Fabulous afternoon with Richard who is so knowledgable about the exquisite wines he supplies and pairs them with superb food. I would recommend any of the events that Richard hosts. The settings are extremely thought out and you are looked after so well really had such a great time

What a fantastic evening! After our welcome drinks (an award winning English sparkling wine) we were taken through to a beautifully presented sitting room. We were provided with the most exquisite wines, all of which were paired with delicious canapés. This was a real treat and we will be back to Wine School soon!

I attended the fabulous gin tasting event with Richard at 1539 in Chester. I didn’t really know what to expect & have to say I was blown away by Richard’s passion & knowledge.
There’s absolutely no pretence with Richard. He’s charming, witty, interesting & knows his stuff. He even managed to turn my non-gin drinking friend into a huge gin fan by the end of the night!
I’d recommend Richard’s events as a birthday/anniversary/treat...in fact you don’t need to have any reason to celebrate, just go & experience it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
Can’t wait to try the wine tasting 😁

We celebrated English Wine Week in Style with Richard at 1539 in Chester - great host, fantastic knowledge about all the wines and taught the whole group all about them. Would highly recommend booking a wine tasting with Richard!

My friend and I recently attended a gin session at Arighi Bianchis in Macclesfield. We had never been to one of these events before so did not know what to expect, so what a lovely surprise we had. We came away educated in the art of really knowing more about our favourite tipple. Richard was very knowledgable who imparted his expertise in a humourus and easy to understand way. The gins were amazing and who knew that a grapefruit ice cube could enhance the flavour of a G&T to dizzying heights!!!! What a great way to spend an evening with good company, lovely venue and great gins😀 My friend and I will definitely be looking out for more events to attend.

My husband and I were recently bought the gift of a voucher for lunch and a wine tasting at Chester racecourse with The Wine School of Cheshire. We were hugely impressed. A really great quality of food, excellent wine pairings and a friendly relaxed atmosphere - plus useful but non-intrusive information from the host. We will definitely attend again and would highly recommend the experience. Most importantly there was none of the expected "hard-sell" of wines - the school does not sell or supply wine, simply provides a great experience.

My partner and i attended the Gin Social, what a wonderful evening we had, what a great idea too!
I really enjoy a Gin and Tonic, so i was very impressed and excited to be able to try a really unusual selection of different gins, ones that are not mainstream or available in your local supermarket! Great way of trying before you buy so to speak and they are gins that we would never have known about had it not been for attending the gin social and even better we got to know where you can purchase them and the price.
I was even happier with the fact you got 6... Yes 6 Full measures of each Gin, FAB... this was so worth the money a great night out, thank you, we will defiantly be recommending this to friends and family.

We attended Wine School Cheshire on 3rd March as a group of six to celebrate my 50th. Not knowing what to expect apart from wine tasting we were all completely taken by the location, food, wine, commentary and down right good fun had by all! we'll definitely be returning in the near future - thanks Richard we had a cracking time!

We've been meaning to attend one of Richard's events for quite a while, but have struggled to find time -- so we booked 3 months in advance for Richard's event in the cellar at the Chester Grosvenor.
Whatever I write here will not do justice to how much we enjoyed our evening. The first two wines (with fabulous canapés) in the drawing room would have been a fabulous event in itself, however we were then taken through the back of the hotel to the Riedel Cellar beneath the streets of Chester.
The cellar in itself is a magnificent site, but we had the extra-special addition of the most glamorous of set tables!
What followed can only be described as a magical journey. Amazing wines from Mischief and Mayhem, with the guidance of Richard and culinary genius of Simon Radley was something to behold. With each course, the wine altered and enhanced its very nature, and each and every experience was accompanied with explanation from Richard. His passion for wine is phenomenal, and his commentary comes with a respect for the art rather than snobbery.
if you want a real, non-commercial and educated experience of wine, I would advise no other place that the Wine School of Cheshire...
The company was also 10/10!
Thank you so much Richard, I will definitely be back :)

A truly magical, informative way to learn about wine.
It’s not pretentious it’s just a great relaxed way to find out what goes with what and better still why! Some great wines to try as well and we mustn’t forget the excellent skills of the host and boss Richard!

This was the first event that I've attended with the Cheshire Wine School and it won't be the last. My husband and I are planning to visit Italy, we love food and wine so the Italian wine tasting pared with a 4 course lunch was a perfect gift for my husband's birthday.
The venue at 1539 overlooking the racecourse was perfect and Richard shared his knowledge of wine in an environment that proved to be educational and fun. Always willing to answer questions, his passion for wine shone through the day.
We learnt a lot, ate delicious food, tried some fabulous wine and my husband said that it's one of his best birthdays and is telling anyone that wants to listen...thank you Richard....we'll hopefully see you again soon.

I had previously been to a Bordeaux tasting with The Wine School of Cheshire which I thoroughly enjoyed so was delighted to receive a gift for Christmas for the Italian wine tasting. Richard was an excellent host, full of knowledge and kept the afternoon running well. There was a great selection of wines which accompanied the excellent food. 1537 was a superb location, relaxed atmosphere and a wonderful view over the racecourse. I would definitely recommend Richard's tastings and hope to attend one again in the not too distant future.

Richard is an excellent host, offering tastings on the best alcoholic beverages. He aims to please and does just that.
Another great afternoon, lovely wines and delicious foods. This is probably the 6th event I’ve attended and I know won’t be the last. Great set up and always learn something new. Lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
