We rented a flat through Chestertons (Camden office), and it was an absolute nightmare from day one. The apartment was handed over to us in a terrible condition: no cleaning had been done, everything was dirty, there were multiple small damages everywhere, and even broken furniture left behind — despite the fact that we rented the flat unfurnished.
The check-in was done without us because, although we had paid everything, the funds hadn’t yet cleared on their account — and they refused to let us attend the check-in. When we finally arrived with the keys, we were genuinely shocked by what we saw.
We immediately contacted the agency for clarification, but instead of helping, our manager started gaslighting us — insisting everything had been cleaned and nothing was broken. Then he simply began ignoring us. As a result, we lost two weeks trying to resolve the situation, unable to move into the flat we had already paid for.
Eventually, we had to call the head office just to get any assistance or even the landlord’s contact details.
Overall, this was an extremely stressful and disappointing experience. We will never use this agency again, we will tell all our friends to avoid them, and I strongly recommend that you stay away as well.

This is a warning and I have been told by other people: when you let, especially for short lets, if you do not use their reccommended cleaning companies they take part of your deposit. Avoid them as they will always find a way through the inventory cleck to show that the property is not clean even if it is. They normally take around £150-200 for lack of cleaning even if you spent hours cleaning and is perfect. Avoid them, I have been reported this by several people now. They claim that they have nothing to do with it and the deposit is in a 3rd party place but they ask you to book the professional cleaning for you and the inventory cleck takes the pictures to support their point not yours. It's a scam!

I've been happy with Chesterton. They let and manage my appartement in Fulham. Not the cheapest on the market but very professional, courteous thorough and reliable. A bit of change in Property Managers but always a smooth and seamless handover between them. Jasmin Popalzai is doing a fine job at the moment. Thanks team!
