For improvement - speaker system in the trains remained on after announcements and gave unpleasant feedback for long periods of time
Lovely day out. Scenery and food all very good. Something different and very enjoyable. Very friendly staff , would recommend and will go again.
Very nice afternoon, oodles of good food, great service, nice clean carriages, felt like the Orient Express, definitely recommend.
Food was excellent. Staff really friendly. Already recommended to friends
We had an absolutely wonderful breakfast trip on Sunday which was excellent value for money. We were very well looked after by the amazing staff, the service was professional and efficient.
The only thing that let it down slightly which wasn't by no means the company's fault was that we were unfortunate to have a group of 10 extremely loud ladies in our carriage with the most penetrating laughs, on several occasions my Husband and myself had to stall our conversation because we could not hear each other. We were not the only guest that found this annoying.
All said we would definitely do a return trip
No steam train working today so an old diesel locomotive was used.
Hot Breakfast was not hot and had to send the sausage back to the kitchen as it looked pink and not cooked.
These two issues detracted from the special day we were expecting as two of my guests travelled from Birmingham by train to be part of this special day.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff on arrival, then in the cafe and finally on the train. Excellent day out all round.
A very relaxing and enjoyable experience, the rolling stock was all clean and smart, the route and the views were outstanding, the food was excellent and the staff all friendly and helpful throughout our trip and so a big thankyou to all. A perfect birthday treat.
Excellent birthday treat of Sunday Lunch whilst travelling through the Churnet Valley. The lunch: pate followed by roast beef dinner the crumble was well presented and very tasty. The staff were attentive bringing us drinks and serving the food. All in all a good value experience and one I would recommend.
We travelled on the Churnet Valley Railway as my birthday gift to my two-year old grandson. We had a wonderful experience with the volunteer staff going out of their way to make our day so enjoyable. The staff in the entrance hall, on the platform, on the train and in the car park were so welcoming and cheerful. My two and a half week-old baby grandson also travelled and staff went that extra bit to ensure buggies were stored in the baggage coach and that we all were able to sit as a family group in our own compartment! The birthday boy was thoroughly engaged and focussed throughout the entire two-hour journey. We all loved it. Thank you.
I have actually done the Churnet Valley Railway experience many times over the past few decades travelling with friends, family including my other grandchildren. We'll be back
The train journey was a great experience. All staff very friendly from the moment we arrived and service was outstanding . We had the 3 course Sunday lunch that was delicious. Would highly recommend.
Brilliant time staff always very friendly Brilliant Sunday lunch food was great hot perfect day, easy to book great value for money
Absolutely fantastic day, service second to none, we went to the wrong station and a lady at the end of the phone guided to the correct station and stayed on the phone all the way, now that’s what I call dedication. They held the train a few minutes for us. The team all looked so smart and dedicated to the railway, the journey was full of nostalgia and wildlife, fields full of pheasants, bluebells and buttercups, little rabbits bobbing around, buzzards flying overhead, Mayflies emerging from the water. Fields full of cows and sheep, A beautiful journey through the best nature experience. I would recommend it to anyone.
Easy booking process. Helpful reminders before visit.
Food on the breakfast train was delicious.
Very friendly staff at the station and on the train.
Train ride itself was brilliant.
The only let down was the awful portaloos at the station that stank so badly it was making people feel sick.
Plenty of car parking but a larger sign would be better as I nearly missed the turning. Very slick straight forward booking in process. A decent pie and mash that was quite hot. The carriages are in excellent and a testament to the hardworking and effort from all the pleasant staff.
This was a birthday treat for my husband and he loved it, the whole train journey was amazing from start to finish.
The staff were so friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious (although my poached eggs were hard,) but it certainly didn’t spoil the eggs Benedict and the full English plate was licked clean by my husband. We will definitely recommend the Churnet Railway to our family and friends.
I would like to give a big shout out to Anne at Cheddleton rail station she was amazing with our 2 year old little girl, amazing experience, fun for all the family to enjoy, our little girl had the best day. Thank u all
A fabulous Sunday lunch train. Great staff and service and lovely food. It was really easy to book a table for 2 on another website so I’m not sure why somebody has complained about that. AND the Yorkshire puddings were a triumph. Crispy (not burnt) and delicious apple crumble.
