We are really impressed that a small (in comparison) developer has been able to deliver such a lovely place to live for a young family. Obviously as an early adopter there are things that go wrong, but the developers and the staff at Citu have been really great at helping us get things sorted.
We’ve also loved the community aspect of the development, meeting some likeminded people with a similar family dynamic has been so good as a new mum.

We moved in in April 2021 on Solar Avenue and are delighted with our decision.

We're here for the duration and are really excited to see it all finished.

I would absolutely not try and put anyone off buying here based on my experience. I think our house looks great, is innovative in its' design and we are yet to have any major issues with it (although we appreciate others have, which is a shame).

The development of the whole area is a major project, and if I was to make any criticism it could be that Citu have taken on a lot at once and, at times, communication hasn't been great with residents. However, at the time of writing that does seem to have improved with more regular updates.

Again, we have a great time living here. We're delighted to be part of an actual community too - it's the first place we've ever lived where we socialise with our neighbours and that's a great thing.

We love our house - amazing community, great location, beautiful views. We had some teething issues at the beginning but at the same time show me a developer/construction project in the UK that has no problems.

Another positive of this development is that they are working on a very large project in the area - they will be always here to support owners/buyers not like some other developers that complete project and move on to the next one.

Customer support improved a lot, Megan deserves a lot of credit for her hard work and dedication!

We took a site tour of the new Aire Lofts apartments at Citu Leeds on Saturday. Danielle and her colleagues had arranged the tour to keep us updated on the progress of our son’s new 2 bed apartment.
Really impressed by the atmosphere of the whole development. Green spaces everywhere, and a relaxed feel. The ‘buz’ of the city stops as you cross the wonderful Citu Bridge over the river.
The real surprise was the total commitment to quality. It shows in the overall plan / strategy for the development…and it is evident in the apartments themselves. Right angles are…just that. Screws are placed in perfectly straight lines. Quality materials fitted with care and craftmanship. Attention to detail shows throughout…really shows! So different to the big housebuilders who I feel ‘throw’ up buildings with seemingly little care.
A large scale development which demonstrates such a high degree of quality is a rarity.

CITU have been great

What can I say about Citu?

I’d say the area that’s built is a spot on area. Small bars, restaurants and cafes are next to us. It has its own character, independent. Could say stands out from the rest. Everything it’s nearby.

Unfortunately, the cons are way more than the pros. CITU is a cheap company. I mean really cheap. The communication’s terrible. If they were a MASH, children’s services trying to save/put down a child protection plan for the children would be a lost cause.

I had some exposed wires outside my place. I insisted on hiding them so they listed it as an ASAP. I think after 8months, roughly, they covered them! Guess better late than never. Had issues in my place, and a lot of issues, still do. If they had a couple of days to assign the appropriate workers to my place everything would’ve been done. It took months. My guarantee ended last year, they emailed me in late Feb that my guarantee ended asking me about my defects. And, of course, that took a while, still has some defects, maybe in 2025, everything will be done.

Not responsive to their emails, you have to email about 10+ and if you’re lucky you will get a response. The last emails I got from them when I emailed about my defects said that TODAY the allocated things will be fixed. Unfortunately, nothing was fixed. I had issues with my shower door, everything was coming out and I had to clean the shower every time I finished. I asked if they could replace the shower door but they didn’t see it as a defect. I had my light switch installed wrongly. I fought for my light switch and heater in the kitchen to be replaced (do have pictures). My heater upstairs is a small one. In winter my bedroom is freezing. They refuse to change the heater because this is how the designer designed it. I visited one of my neighbour's flat, the same house, it’s like a reflection of mine. Their upstairs and downstairs bedrooms are both medium heaters. Unfortunately, CITU was/is so proud that they refuse to change my defect (defects caused by their own company) because that was how they designed it and it cannot be changed.

I do not know who the designer is and can only talk about my situation, honestly terrible. I would suggest maybe going back to uni or trying out a different job. That includes the rest - Meg P. and Chris T. I felt and still do like a number, like now that they sold the place that’s it. Felt like I was taken for granted, and only care about money. Not bothered about my issues, issues created by CITU and their designers. My issues are still hanging there. A parking spot is about £14,000 and prices increase. I would suggest if you are planning on buying one of the plots after you move in check with your neighbours you’ll find differences. I would suggest also, having a chat with the residents there, getting feedback and then deciding. It does sound like I'm exaggerating. From my side, the only proof I have is the emails I exchanged and pictures. If you need more proof ask the neighbours.

Avoid CITU, I bought a home from them and they are a joke. Terrible Customer Service, poor quality build and they are not Eco homes.

I love my new home, I love the innovation and concept for creating a new more sustainable home and build a truly unique house within a beautiful environment. My home has stayed a consistently warm temperature right throughout the house during the winter months and I am really looking forward to being here in the Summer to enjoy the stunning outdoor space that is shared right across the community. All of the residents I have met have been lovely and there are community events for those who want to take part and everyone is happy to help each other with real community spirit. I can see that snagging issues are being resolved by subtle design changes aimed to improve new properties as the site progresses so though I can see others have posted bad reviews and have had issues this has not been my personal experience which is all I can make comment on. I really love living here and cannot wait for the coffee shops and restaurants to be built to further enhance the whole area.

We had the pleasure of visiting the Citu open day last week. And wow what a wonderful experience it was to attend and see this innovative, original and inspiring development on the Leeds riverside. This progressive and thoroughly eco sensitive village of beautiful houses and apartments projects way into the future with its modernity and exceptional attention to the Climate initiative. Thank you Danielle and Andrew for your superb and caring service. A trully remarkable experience.

Our experience of buying at Citu’s Climate Innovation District was a really positive one and we felt looked after throughout the whole process. As with all new build properties there has to be some flexibility from all parties as often there are unforeseen issues and delays along the way but communication is key and we feel Citu have done their best to deliver.
What was amazing was the support from the entire community- we ended up living with a neighbour in her spare room whilst our property was completed. This enabled us to get to know how the house functions and also learn what problems there have been for people who bought their properties early on. I can say for certain that enormous amounts of improvements have been made and continue to be made as time goes on.
A friend of ours who bought a new property in Castleford a few years ago from a large house building company commented that the finish of our house was well beyond their own. The night before we completed and moved in, we saw the two directors who live on site getting stuck in with Danielle from sales and the rest of the team, helping to clean our house. It was incredibly humbling to see the passion they’ve put into these properties and it’s these added elements which forge such a great community here at CID.

We've lived in our Citu home for just over a year now and we couldn't be happier. The community is fantastic, and it's even better that Citu are part of it too. It's such a lovely place to live, and I'm certain we will be here for a very long time. The sales process was smooth, and aftercare has been top notch for us. No complaints at all!

Did not rectify building errors. Charge for utilities based on random errors caused by meter glitches. No guarantee on building of property.

Avoid at all costs. From duping housing regs to blaming COVID for not rectifying a woefully long snagging list (whilst they still continuing to build on the site!) resulting in the house sitting empty months after completion. If you want to be able to live in your home once you’ve bought it I suggest buying elsewhere.
