£75 admin fee for cancellation !!!
£75 admin fee for cancellation !!!
Cancelled my insurance and there was a £39.00 admin fee for the insurer and £38 back to me but this wouldn’t cover the City Insurance cancellation fee of £75.
How does it possibly cost £75 to cancel a policy.
DISGUSTING
You’d have thought where everyone is suffering due to the pandemic with money worries that they would refund me the £38? Clearly not.
Shocking, poor service.

Great value and good service
City Insurance Group provided me with the best value quotation for my needs via a comparison website and was significantly cheaper than my renewal. The uploaded proof of NCD was accepted quickly and the policy documents arrived electronically soon after. Very good experience to date.

I have tried to contact them with a query. Two phone numbers that are listed are no longer in use. Another number is just ringing. I sent an email last week, but have had no response.

Cancelled my insurance after they requested proof of address and before i had chance to send it in. No follow up phone call just an easily missed email. Beware this seems to have happened to lots with this company.

Absolutely appalled
Absolutely appalled, I recently took out car insurance online. They had a good price etc. I paid £128 deposit as I went with the monthly payment option. What I didn’t realise is that I had to validate my insurance. Fair enough my fault. But they said they tried to call me to validate (once!) never had a missed call and they didn’t leave a voicemail, when they couldn’t get hold of me they sent an email. I did not realise that they would cancel the policy within 7 days and then charge me £50! And amazingly I’m not due a refund at all as the remaining money from the deposit the insurers wanted for the few days I was insured.
When moving house they charged £72…
When moving house they charged £72 although both addresses were in the same category on the " car insurance postcode risk list" would they offer a refund if the new address was in a lesser risk list, I doubt it!
A very brief comment.
Having just started an association with your company it is too soon to be able to give
an assessment of your service. So far I am well satisfied with your service.

Brilliant
Brilliant, no nonsense insurance talking to people from this country who gave me all the insurance I needed at a much better price than my previous quotation... by £300!
Very knowledgeable and wonderfully patient with customers ensuring they get exactly what they need. I know I will be a long term customer and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
Thank you City Insurance 😊

Avoid, unless you never need to claim
The insurance was cheaper than others but the real costs will show when one actually makes a claim. City Insurance basically is not an insurance company but a broker only, so simply pass all claims off to credit hire companies ( google them to see details about the generals pitfalls of using these). With no fault accidents they pass you straight to a credit hire company called Kinderton Accident Management. If the claim handling had all gone well I might never have known any difference between using a insurance company and a credit hire company to handle the claim, but Kinderton’s claim handling was totally incompetent on initial contact. First of all they know nothing about your policy and have no details about you. I had presumed I was calling an insurance company who has all my policy details, but as I was actually talking to a credit hire company, who pays the broker a referral fee to take on any non fault cases, not only did they not know who I bought the insurance from, they were asking me to provide all personal and insurance details all over again at a time of distress and also forced me to set up a password on the phone which had to be disclosed to them, which totally misses the point of passwords. The claim handler couldn’t identify correctly the third party’s address on her system even though I had clearly repeated it to her many times. She also insisted that the third party was insured with a different insurer than the one I was told by the third party. I had no problem finding the address and the correct third party insurer myself online. This had caused me to put down incorrect information in the police report which I then had to update with the police. The next day after reporting the accident was wasted on the phone trying to get through on a line which was always busy, When I finally got through no conversation was possible as the line was faulty and kept cutting off. I felt then that I have had enough of a taste of their bad service and decided that I did not wish to claim on my policy anymore as I did not want this incompetent company to handle the claim and repair, and chose to deal with the claim myself. A week after I informed them I did not wish to claim anymore, I got another call from a claims handler from the under writer wanting to take on my claim case. I would gladly pay double for good service from an established insurance company and will never buy a policy from City Insurance again.

Cheap but try and make a claim and your in trouble
I’d never heard of these guys when a comparison site showed them as the cheapest by some how and was a little wary but the price was so much cheaper I risked it.
All was fine until someone reversed into my car while it was parked in a retail park - I thought never fear the police saw it had a crime number etc so it should all be easy.....
That was until I tried to make a claim and City Insurance attempted to pass a no fault claims management company called Kindertons off as “process” when basically these guys do not have the to handle it and outsource it to another company know no doubt pays City Insurance a commission for the referral and then adds a bit on for themselves to the claim - I could here the city rep light up “oh it’s a no fault claim sir that’s fantastic” realising City would make money.
This Kindertons company were beyond bad, zero updates, had to keep chasing them, every time had to go through the details again and again and again - they also got me a telling off from the police by telling me to ring them and ask for a copy of the police report as “police act quicker to a member of the public” aka can you do our job for us? Anyway police told me every insurance provider knows that is not the process.
This went on and on and on for almost three months when suddenly LV got in touch and told me to avoid using City - they were also aware of how poor Kindertons were and basically said going through these fools costs the insurance industry more.
I’d say to anyone considering City Insurance that year it might seem cheap and might seem good but wait to see what you find if you ever have to put a claim in or speak to these guys a manager called Ian said he would help but basically was as much use as a chocolate fire guard as he couldnt control this claims management company Kindertons
avoid these guys at all costs

Came across City Insurance on a price…
Came across City Insurance on a price comparison website, completed the online application and bought the insurance. I then received an email that there was an issue with my wife's insurance history (named driver on my policy from 2 years earlier). She had been hit by another car in a supermarket car park and it had been recorded incorrectly on an insurance database. City asked me to get confirmation from my wife's former insurer that she wasn't at fault - easier said than done! It took numerous phone calls and emails over a weekend to get the confirmation, but in the meantime City Insurance had sent 2 letters threatening to cancel my policy if i didn't get the information. I had not put any false information on the application form and was not aware that a seemingly small incident hadn't been recorded correctly on a database that i had knowledge or control of. Once I got the confirmation that my wife was not at fault the issue was resolved, but I'm left with the feeling that City Insurance were over zealous in threatening to cancel the policy, bearing in mind that my wife and I had renewed our respective car insurance policies for the previous 2 years with other insurers not raising any issues.

Quick and straight forward process
Quick and straight forward process. Excellent customer service. The best experience I have received from an insurance company to date. I will definitely use City Insurance again and recommend to my family and friends.
Hidden charges
Hidden charges. The price you get online when you take out insurance and set up payments could be raised when they call you about details, then if you cancel, you are charged cancellation fee from them and the insurance provider that they've put you through.
So was charged nearly £100 for being insured 4 days.
