The range spans everything from classic cottage garden favourites to more unusual specimens and includes hundreds of different varieties carefully selected for their garden performance. Decades of hands-on growing experience, propagating, trialing, testing and tending to plants has resulted in the knowledge that every plant we offer is worthy of it's place in the garden. We hold Plant Heritage National Collections of hybrid herbaceous peonies and bearded irises and have received numerous medals and awards at shows including gold medals at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The National Collections include hundreds of irises and peonies, including unusual varieties not commonly found in local garden centers or at other nurseries. Our careful, effective and secure delivery packaging using recyclable materials ensures the plants arrive in excellent condition and will thrive after planting. Very disappointed
Recently placed an order which totalled around £85.
Some specimens looked OK but none outstanding and the 3 sanguisorba tanna looked DOA - an assessment with which our gardener, whom I trust, agreed.
Whilst I was tempted by the lovely selection online, the reality didn't deliver on this occasion.
I wrote to Claire, who is very disappointed in my choice to express my views publicly and asked me to amend my review.
I reiterated that our gardener advised that the plants appeared dead and explained to her that we want to support small business operations but the goods and services need to be up to par.
Hopefully this clarifies that a less than stellar review is not a personal attack but an invitation to improve.

Really sorry to hear of your disappointment. We'd have loved an opportunity to put things right before you placed a review and would encourage you to send us an email if you haven't already done so.
At this time of year some plants are entering dormancy and can look underwhelming though it is not an indication as to the good health and promise of natural regrowth for the following year.
Over the past 25 years we have strived to supply good, healthy, well packed plants that arrive in good condition and meet customer expectations. Unfortunately it would appear that we didn't meet our usual high satisfaction levels on this occasion and apologize for your disappointment.

Bare root peony is healthy and robust. Three good ‘red eyes’ evident. Large root. Packed really well in natural straw for protection and delivered as stated.

I have bought plants lots of time from Claire Austin. They always arrive in good condition, and nearly all have survived the garden, and the dog. I like the fact that they have some of the unusual plants that you may want. But also the more usual plants. The brochure that shows them in colour groups is beautiful in itself, and meant more plants (you can never have too many).
