AVOID AT ALL COST. I was with them for a whole year where: I got fined because they didn't present my documents, they ghosted me constantly, they won't give me the data that I have so I can change companies, and ALL the VAT returns were wrong.

I initially had a positive experience for the first two months, but things changed with the new accountant.
I found it challenging to spend a significant amount of time reviewing HMRC documents and highlighting discrepancies to address issues that arose, especially while paying for accounting services. It would have been better to consult a supervisor if there were uncertainties.
Despite having email records from the previous accountant, who provided clarity, the new accountant has given conflicting information. This has led to two months of confusion and wasted time.
I believe the newly appointed accountant could benefit from further training in accounting principles and professional communication. There seems to be a reluctance to seek guidance from supervisors, even when I pointed out discrepancies regarding personal allowances.
I have spent considerable time on HMRC documents and provided evidence to show that the new accountant's statements were incorrect, especially after confirming multiple times that personal allowances couldn't be claimed. This turned out to be inaccurate.
It is concerning that there was such a strong insistence on this point despite receiving different information from another knowledgeable accountant.
As a result, I now feel the need to seek assistance from a different accountant, as I have concerns about the current service. Thank you for your understanding.
I submitted a complaint to Clever team manager on December 9, 2024, and have yet to receive a response from Clever.

Nice People But Absolutely Awful Communication And Service
What do I have to do to get a response to anything? Absolutely dire comms. I understand this is a budget service for small businesses but I've been waiting 9 business days and counting for a simple response to a question.
I've been a customer since 2022. The first year things were good but when my accountant left, things went downhill and continued to do so. The only way I can get anything done is by making a complaint and involving the Customer Service team. I've also been given misinformation about processes and fees which caused me issues.
When I finally get to speak to someone to discuss the problems, they're always lovely but it shouldn't be this hard.
I'm currently trying to close the business and go self-employed, partly due to my terrible experience using accounting services. These are charged in addition to the hundreds I've already paid monthly and even then, no response.
They're nice people when you can actually get assistance but this is one of the worst experiences I've had in terms of customer service and communication.

Responsive and accommodating. What I think is a plus factor for me is that you won’t be obliged or tied up to a contract. I have explained to them that I needed guidance to make sure I have started filing right and they were so quick to response and set up what suits my needs. I used Clever Accounts for the first time this year. What a big mistake and a waste of money.
Quickly to collect their fee. But they informed me I only need to pay £1700 of tax. BUT HMRC contacted me and said I owe £4330.
How on earth do they get it that wrong???? And then they come up with excuses like they did not incorporate my other salaries. Isn't that part of accounting / bookkeeping service? I paid for a service and only got 1/2 a service.
This is the lowest level of service I have seen and absolutely no help offered to correct this £2630 mistake.
DONT USE this company unless you like big nasty surprises from HMRC.
I referred so many of my mates to them, and they had the same experience. All will be moving away and never use them again.
I am NOT happy with this and I am seriously upset!
I will be contacting The Financial Reporting Council (FRC).
