The overall experience was good until we discovered we were charged insurance for ski hires that we clearly said NO to. When we raised our concerns to the Clubmed in the interest of pointing out to them the unscrupulous behaviour their staff have been implementing. We were blamed for ‘why signed it’ and ‘there is nothing they can do’!
When we arrived at Tignes, we were asked to obtain our equipment from the ski shop downstairs. There was a long queue of people who were looking to obtain their equipment, and for people like us who did not pay for our equipment in advance, we are ‘told’ how much the equipment was at the check out.
At the time of obtaining our skis, the ski shop staffs tried very hard to sell us the insurance, and we refused on the basis that we already had winter sports insurance, and our friends were with us at the time as well. They similarly advised that we should not get the insurance.
The staff then advised us of the cost as a single figure and emailed us the breakdown of costs. We had incorrectly assumed that their staff after hearing our refusal would NOT have added the service we did not want, and as non French speakers it was not obvious to us what was added was the service we explicitly refused!
When we came back from our holiday, we discovered our ski hires cost were significant higher than our friends paid. We were charged 25 euro each for 4 of us on the insurance, and the item is called ‘SKI 0 SOUCIS GM’, we had to Google it in order to find out what it was. When we emailed the Tignes staff, we were blamed for ‘why sign it?’, see the response below:
‘We are surprised by your e-mail.
In fact, after checking the invoice (which you will find attached to this e-mail), you signed it, which means that you approved what was billed to you. And on the invoice we see the insurances, which you are now contesting.
Why did you sign an invoice if it didn't correspond to what you actually used?’
I formally complained to the UK clubmed customer service, I haven’t had a reply. Unfortunately due to their 30 days post holiday complaint policy, they probably won’t deal with our complaint or issue any refund to us.
However, given their highly unscrupulous behaviour, we felt it was right to point it out to everyone that this was happening.
We had a fantastic experience in Club Med. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and made to feel totally at ease! Wonderful holiday.
Staff in the ski room were extremely helpful and efficient. They knew exactly how to adjust everything for comfort.
Locker system works brilliantly for storage of skis and boots.
Rooms are well maintained and comfortable.
Buffet restaurant provides excellent dining options and is beautifully presented and staffed with great chefs. The waiting staff are in short supply and although very hard working just not enough of them to keep up.
Great ski in ski out location best for skiers with some experience
The hotel location
The hotels staff
And the food were all excellent!
I would highly recommend to all.
The Staff very helpful ,Food very good ski school instructors excellent and loved the lunches outside with sun Shining down
My experience with club med customer service, while dealing with flight changes, was appalling. We spent 3 weeks emailing back and forth, with a response approximately every 3 working weekdays, and never came to any conclusions. I begged them to call me and to connect me to a manager, and they refused. The entire mess could have been resolved in 5 minutes over the phone on day 1. Instead, it was so bad that I’m seriously considering never returning to club med, despite having been to multiple club meds since I was a child and having marvelous experiences at the resorts themselves.
Repeat visit and the lunchtime food provision had improved, evening food was varied and of good quality, rooms adequate and of course great snow and tuition.
Not enough seating in the main bar area for number of people in resort (unable to get a seat 2 nights in a row as a family size of only 3).
Food not up to normal club med standards. Same options on snack time every night, with nothing special.
Some minor issues with room (none working tv and light switch), although fixed quickly.
No transport when arrived at airport. Club Med staff didn’t know what to do and didn’t seem to really care despite a distressed 2-year old. Had to catch a taxi. Told we’d be compensated but heard nothing. We’d been skiing with Club Mex as a family for 20 years…
Brilliant, the staff were charming, helpful. I could not fault any of them.
spending quality time with my daughter; friendly, helpful staff as on previous visits.
Particularly helpful was the life guide who was always there to help me out of the swimming pool
Amazing kitchen, beautiful hotel, me and my baby had an amazing time.
Terrible customer service and watch their terms and conditions. The family we were meeting in Phuket had to move their holiday as their son broke their leg. I tried to move to match, but was told UK terms and conditions wouldn't let me. See below for the way this is written in their terms; criminal. Not only that, but they wouldn't let me cancel then and there on the phone and I had to send through a signed cancellation letter where I got a reply saying they would process in 4 working days- come on.
Terms below. Stay well away from this crowd of sharks!

Poor customer service. ESF instructors unkind. Would not recommend.
We went to club med Arcs Extreme! We were expecting shabby rooms as we knew it was about to close. The rooms were fine, however the food was almost inedible and stone cold. The only edible things were the pizzas, some pastas and cheeses!Even the bread was often stale! The GOs were unusually quiet and uncommunicative ( we have been with club med around 8 times and know what to expect) If you complained you were grunted at and dismissed rapidly. The allocation to ESF lessons was a shambles. I was told to go back to beginners, when I have been skiing for 40 years. Eventually I found a 2A ski class who were willing to accept me. I was told 1 day later, that I was technically the best! We ended up going out for several meals as we were really hungry and craving decent food. It has put me off returning to club med
Clubmed incorrectly billed me for a single transaction twice and upon calling their customer service they said that it was my fault and that I had wilfully made 2 transactions one at 9:32pm and then one at 10:02pm (when I was asleep!!). I then called my credit card company and they said that Clubmed has retained by credit card details and has billed me a second time as a 'subscription charge'. So essentially ClubMed could theoretically make random charges and get away with them as they are a subscription service? That's scary! I tried going onto their website to remove any stored CC information and there is no such provision. That's even more scary. Please beware.
Amazing skiing holiday in Club Med La Rosiere with my son. Brilliant costumer service, food , hotel design , everything was 5*
Thanks a lot.
Fantastic holiday for our family in Bali.
Thank you for making this happen for us!
