I signed up for Club Pilates last year…

I signed up for Club Pilates last year in Oct and my contract was for 3 months at 169.00 a month for unlimited. I chose unlimited because of my work schedule. After the first visit for the "trial" I thought it would work out for me. I wasn't impressed with the impersonal experience, but I was willing to give it a try. I then went online to schedule the classes for Level 1 and all of the classes were full for the times that I could attend. When that happens then there's a "waiting list". I can't do that. I have to have a set schedule for myself, OR go when I can go like a regular gym where it's open for customers.
I finally lost heart and decided to quit and go to a place where I didn't have to schedule or be on a waiting list.
I called Club Pilates after I had problems scheduling and they had me come down and sign a form in ink to quit the club, which it would cost me NOT ONLY 100.00 but also the fee until December! Okay, fine, I went with the losses. Well, they debited my bank account 358.00 this month! 02/01/25 169.00 02/01/25 20.00 and then on 02/22/25 they took another 169.00!!
After I discovered the debits called and left a voicemail. It's Monday and I did not hear back. I called again and got someone on the phone. She said she did not see my form I signed in Sept of last year and she would talk to the GM "when she got into the office." This is UNACCEPTABLE. I went online and found hundreds of complaints about their shady debiting practices and how they bilk their customers for extra funds. I'm now calling my bank.
I'm disgusted at this company.
I do not recommend this company and if you DO decide to join, use a debit card you can transfer funds to and then LOCK THE CARD, because they might come after your money no matter what.

Well I was a fool for not reading these…

Well I was a fool for not reading these before signing up! This may be a great way to work out BUT only if you have the cash for unlimited. Depending on where you live this could be 219. A month or like where I live 289. A month. I signed up for an 8 pack which is a mere 229 a month (right?) well almost every class is waitlisted the only reason there are some open is this is a new studio BUT that also means it’s 90 percent level 1 classes. Not even a bit sore or challenged. I can only sign up for my eight “credits” the month OF. Not working for my busy work schedule. Their way around this is to have you do unlimited and you can book out further. Well sorry that’s crazy. So if you are independently wealthy and don’t mind the up charge do it. As an update I’ve sent several emails and no response. For my second month I was able to jam in 7 classes at the END OF THE MONTH. And I’m waitlisted for one which I’ll never get off. Sadly Many of these are level one classes I might as well stretch.

Club Pilates Refuses to Refund my $ after ONE class

I signed up for a monthly membership at Club Pilates. I took one paid class immediately following a complimentary intro class.

I went to sign up for classes the following week and could not get into a single class. I was waitlisted for all the times I could go. By Sunday night I was still waitlisted #7 for the following day, so no guarantee I could get in, which doesn’t work for me or my schedule (especially at the high cost they charge).

I decided the studio was not for me after reviewing the class times closer and being waitlisted for multiple classes. I was getting anxious and frustrated by the experience.

I asked the studio to cancel. I knew upon signing I was entering into a 3 month contract (big mistake). They said I could cancel for a $100 fee (ridiculous after taking one single class). After much discussion, I asked them to waive the cancellation fee, which they did. But they said they would not return my first month’s payment of $175.

I reminded them I only took ONE paid class. They refused. Now, I admit I am at fault by signing a damn contract. But businesses need to adapt to people's needs too. It’s not the right studio for me (especially given their response), and I can’t believe they think it’s acceptable to keep $175 for ONE class. That's terrible business behavior.

I have heard from other people they have trouble getting into classes too (feels like they sell more memberships than they have space for).

And then they refuse to refund you.

Be very careful with this business.

DO NOT JOIN THIS AWFUL BUSINESS

DO NOT JOIN THIS AWFUL BUSINESS. I joined the brand new club in Vinings area of Atlanta, GA. The club was opening the beginning of February and I paid to have the 3 month unlimited at a reduced rate on January 20th 2025 of $183 per month. On the 4th of Feb, I went to go online to book a few classes and EVERY SINGLE CLASS was "get on waiting list" except one until March 5th. And there were several people on those. I have called and emailed to cancel and get a refund for 2 days with NO response. I am now making a claim with my bank. This is an OUTRAGEOUS AND FRAUDULENT scheme to take peoples money. My daughter in LA as well as several friends tell me theirs are not like that at all. They can go on and book same week all the time.

CP DOES NOT TEACH PILATES

CP is owned by xponential fitness, the largest fitness company funded by likes of blackrock & vangaurd. ITS A SCAM. Overpriced general fitness sold to you as "Pilates" It most certainly is not. Mandatory planks, bridges, and other fictitious pilates exercises. The lead instructors either have NO pilates or fitness industry experience, or they ONLY have a year or so exclusively with CP. They don't know the first thing about the Pilates method or the exercises, since they are not taught , nor are the majority of Pilates exercises even ALLOWED at CP.

Membership is charged, can not book!

Club Pilates was convenient location for us. The exercise, what me and my husband needed, even though I can not compare with other Pilates businesses, we were happy to use this one... as exercise point.
However booking, billing is horrible.

It would be more useful for people who has more time, may not work as we do, go only as one person like trying to book for 2 person to go together. Maybe.

So we could go twice a week with our life schedule. We got membership 8 class a month. Charged. Can not book class on evening hours, after work or weekends. Already fully booked. Waiting list does not work if you trying to work it out with 2 person for same class. Already lost that battle and money trying. So, what ever you can not book, lost. Tried to work it out paying 2 months ahead. The branch manager does manually. Worked better, I can book little future of time that there is availability. I make sure I have 8 classes a month. 15 active book, stops you. Understandable. Then, no 15 active booking in our schedule, charged already, but no credit in our account. Because they charge, but also need to made it available to book. So no use. Manual job for manager if s/he is willing to make it work. Then my husband only cancelled one for himself that I used, suddenly he has 6 credits I have none while there is unused charge of $179, not made available. Can not book. I know it creates complication. Branch manager suggestion, go unlimited! Or use waitlist. Too much of work to work it out. So they want us to pay extra that we know we will not be able to use. They make you use 8 class for the month you paid. Can not book. Bum , gone, wasted. Let's see how we are going to work last $179 charge that we did not, could not use yet before cancelling entire membership!

Club Pilates is way overpopulated

Club Pilates is way overpopulated. I've gone a month not able to book a class. I was placed on a wait list and never got in. I've been a member since 2016. They want you to cancel within 12 hrs if you are booked. However, they will book you in 4 hours before a class starts and if you can't make it or miss checking your email, they charge you for a fail to cancel. If you don't call to cancel you are charged a $30. If you do call, they charge you 15$. This is a total scam. Their software is set up to auto book and auto charge so they claim they can't make any changes. If you are young and healthy. The classes are pretty much a joke. Any 60 yr old can do these classes.

I had a major surgery

I had a major surgery, and for a long time I will not be able to go back exercising. But that didn’t prevent them from charging over $400 for two more months!
And cleaning standards definitely didn’t meet my expectations!!

If I could give this place a zero

If I could give this place a zero, I would. I signed up for the unlimited class membership @ $206 per month. What they don't tell you is that each time you book a class and then have to cancel, they charge you $20, even though you pay for unlimited classes. I even cancelled through the app to allow someone else to have my spot, and they still charged me the same amount that they charge for those who just don't show up, which I think is very poor service. Due to a medical issue that prevents me from exercising some days, I ended up paying between $230 and $260 a month after all was said and done. Then I found out that I could get personal training twice a week with a certified trainer and nutritionist through a local gym for the same price! So, I called to cancel Club Pilates, only to be told that I had to physically go in to sign papers. When I arrived on a Monday afternoon during hours of operation, I was locked out, and nobody answered my knocks or phone calls, so I sent an email explaining that I was there and requesting cancellation in writing. They responded a few days later and said that was not acceptable and that I needed to go back. Their excuse was that someone was sick that day so they couldn't open. I'm not sure that I should be inconvenienced due to their mismanagement, but that's what they said. I asked for the owner's contact information and was denied. I was told that the owner would reach out to me, instead, but that never happened (no surprise there). On top of that, they said they will charge me for one more month once I cancel so that "I can still access the gym as often as I'd like!" I told them I was not interested in another month's access. But apparently, that's hidden in the small print of the contract. This place is not out to improve the lives of their customers. They are out for themselves and your money, and they will screw you out of money anyway they can. DO NOT SIGN. There are much better gym options.

Hello Lani (instructor at the Ottawa…

Hello Lani (instructor at the Ottawa Barrhaven location)
So where do I start? From the moment I entered the Pilates room to join the class, I did not feel welcome. I entered with a smile, I said Hello and all I saw was your back, you didn’t even replied back or look at me. Big lack of respect and enthusiasm. Then you started your class. You were giving instructions and it took me few seconds to understand what you were saying, you came to me, with a bad attitude and a tone I wouldn’t use on a toddler, you said put your hands there, then you rolled your eyes and continued your instructions to the group. I felt you were racist to me since I come from a different background. You were not giving that bad attitude and vibe to the rest of the class, only me. I decided to leave the class few minutes after it begun because I disliked your attitude and tone towards me. I have zero tolerance for disrespect and racism. I have been in many sports club and gym and I never felt the way I did in your class. I really felt I wasn’t welcome to the class and I know I was right and what I felt is racism. After doing some research about you, it took me few minutes to find out that I am not the only one complaining about your bad attitude. I’ve read online on different reviews that you are “the worst teacher”, you have a “bad attitude, that “you shouldn’t be allowed to teach” and the list goes on. And the list of negative comments about you will only get longer if you don’t make effort to correct your arrogance. You have no right to talk to people the way you did to me. I hope you understand the magnitude of having a bad attitude around clients and students…

Don’t bother with a membership

Don’t bother with a membership. Classes are always filled up, and you have to put your name on a waitlist. if and when they do, they will text you, which is after 10pm, for a 10:30 class the next day; I've already made plans. Very disappointed!
This is for the Boynton Beach location.

Club Pilates/San Mateo - don't waste your time or $

Club Pilates (San Mateo location) is such a disappointment. 1) they do not answer phones or respond to emails 2) the membership does not give you access to all clubs 3) classes are cancelled frequently, or instructors are late 4) they do not take into consideration what level of fitness you are upon starting the program - they have everyone in the class on the same level, so if you are somewhat strong, there will be no be resistance & the workout is useless 5) they only offer level 1 and level 1.5 classes, which are very elementary - good if you have injuries or new to working out 6) do not expect any kind of sculpting - lots of stretching - it's almost like they do not want you to be pushed 7) you have to pay for parking 8) almost worst of all, they do not respond to any of the reviews (trust pilot, google, yelp) - ALL show poor ratings

Shady business tactics

While Pilates is a great workout, and I enjoy that part of it, the companies business tactics are sketchy. When you sign on, they never actually hand you a copy of the contract and they never give you a copy of anything that they ask you to sign. Often times their words are different from what they’re asking you to sign. They give you an online app, that has everything available to you, however, there is no way to access your contract on there. Everything is very vague. They also have a cancellation button, but once you click the cancellation button button, you have to actually go in to cancel. Then when you go to cancel, they charge you another month. This is why the cancellation button is there, to trick you.
Everything they do is a scam to getting more money for free. I would definitely never do business with them, again no other gym or work out facility that I’ve been to in my 50 years. Does this kind of business.

I went to the introductory session

I went to the introductory session. Instructor not very helpful as it was my very first time. She called the following day suggesting private lessons. $$$.
This club was on my insurance. I also asked if a private lesson could be shared. Received a really rude message that insurance no longer covered Club Pilates and my membership was null and void. It doesn't consider everyone's level. Better be in good shape before you go. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I had high hopes for this club

I had high hopes for this club, but have been very disappointed. The classes/instructors are good enough but scheduling them is a nightmare. By the time your credits refill, the classes are waitlisted - so you are never really sure if you will get in. Then this morning, I woke to a message stating my next week's class was cancelled. They said it was a software glitch in the middle of the night and they were unable to do anything about it, but I'd likely get in anyway being on the waitlist. Not good enough. Bad business practice. I'd suggest searching for a more peaceful place to spend $30/hour on a workout.

I had double hip replacement

I had double hip replacement, so I felt taking pilates classes was good for me. I. Retired so I had no problem getting the morning classes I needed. Even though we were in a group setting, the instructors took time to make sure you were moving correctly. I'm sorry I had to stop. I look forward to starting again. Yes I went 3x aweek and I started seeing results after my second month. One person who started with me went 5-7 days abd I saw wonderful results with her. I would recommend club Pilates.

Manager very helpful with scheduling issues

12/1/24 Edited: I did connect with Manager about the scheduling difficulties, and was able to get some tips and hints on why I couldn't find enough open times which is due to: on the 1st of the month, those with health insurance fitness plans all sign up, so if you sign up on the 7th of the month, it's hard to find open classes (especially the beginning Level 1). They suggested I could change my date to the 28th of the month, which I appreciated but havent done, since I discovered that my new health insurance (which only began in October) includes this Club. So-- I am happy to know the hints/tips and very happy to find out I can now take an additional 4 classes per month! Win-win!

I like the gentle workout, but am not sure about the process to schedule classes. I signed up on 9/7 for 4x/month, 3 month contract, and was told there could be waitlists "but the waitlists clear quickly" and some other peppy info about cancels/admits to waitlists. Thankfully I have not had to deal with any waitlists. All my 8 classes thus far have been 100% full and pretty good. However for Nov and Dec, well, today 11/6 (which should be 30 days, Hello, that is my contract, 30 days not the calendar month, October has 31 days so 11/6 would be the day to sign up) on 11/6 I dutifully went to sign up for my November classes. I have a difficult work schedule this month. Much to my dismay they are not allowing me to sign up for my 4 classes. But already I can see where I cannot attend any Level 1 classes until 11/14 (that's 25% of the month gone). After that there are more issues between open Level 1 classes, Thanksgiving, and my work schedule. I am NOT happy. Am considering canceling my contract and that makes me sad since I felt like this was helping me, but this crazy scheduling business is driving me nuts. They should just allow people to sign up for what they need and not watch us like a hawk, preventing sign up even as I mentioned on Day 1 of the new 30 day period.

I had a 8 classes a month subscription…

I had a 8 classes a month subscription for 3 months and then it changed to monthly subscription. My 3 first month subscription classes was just ok because was hard to get into a class that match with my work schedule and credit classes are not rolling to the next month. Then I had a month to month subscription, I had an automatic payment. 20 days before finishing my month I wrote them to stop my automatic payment but they said I had to pay the next month because it has to be 30 days notice. I understand the 30 days notice if you have a long subscription agreement but a monthly agreement? Come on! My actual month I paid it but once finished I am not interested in another month. Anyway, I had to pay a month of classes that it was not possible for me to go and they do not do rollovers so I can use my paid classes when I can.
Terrible politics!!!

False advertising

False advertising. When I joined and purchased the unlimited class membership, I was told it could be used at any Club Pilates Studios. I tried to sign up for classes at a nearby studio, about 5-7 miles away and was told that was different franchise and cannot.
It's VERY difficult to get classes, you're just waitlisted or there's only easy classes, which aren't challenging nor a workout. Very disappointing for the cost.
