It was such a straightforward application process. All information was given to us at each stage and we were well informed of everything. It is such a great way to get onto the property ladder as first time buyers. I will definitely recommend to anyone I know going to but their first home.

Excellent service. Co Ownership made it possible for me to purchase a house in an area that suited the kids for school.

Seeing as I was buying first time I decided to give this a go. Phone call to be told my application would ‘likely’ be rejected due to a late payment, £100 application fee, but my luck it got accepted, give you 5 months to look for a house? Found my dream house, sale agreed, found issues in the inspection, give them a 3 week to fix it, rejected. So we’re already 10 weeks away from the deadline, so how am I meant to find another property in the next 10 weeks before meeting the deadline???? The issue in the house could’ve been resolved as I had planned for someone to look at it, but Co ownership does not allow this, £550 property assessment and £440 returned (which took a week to get refunded), who can actually be bothered with this type of stress?? Does this ‘charity’ think people have all the money in the world to waste on property assessments when trying to buy a house?? This is meant to be something to help people to get into the property ladder, but make it impossible to do so. So save your money kids and go for a mortgage, also a lot of vendors purposely avoid Co ownership applications because of the length of time ‘waste of time’ it takes to do applications. Btw, 1.8 million people in Northern Ireland and this only owns 10,000, meaning it’s not even 1% of them in NI. Do not be fooled .
Edit: from the response, so in 10 weeks I’m meant to find a house, get sale agreed (most vendors avoid Co own) pay another £550 for an assessment, and then have to wait another 3 weeks for it to fall through? Is ir meant to be ping pong until the deadline to the point I don’t have a house in the end? Instead I’m wasting £200+ ? This is not worth the stress and the horror stories are to be believed. The house I was looking at was in good condition and even advertised as ‘Co ownership’ house but even the seller knew it weren’t the stress.
