Bought lavina sofa, 4 months later, unbearable to sit on so saggy. Total waste of money so if you see any on clearance or sale I wouldn't bother

I got several fabric samples sent, website easy to use and samples useful though the patterned ones were a bit small to see and did not have all the colours in the pattern. Took about 5 days to come, but they were free which is good.

Wished to trace a fabric from 12 years ago. Appeared to be no longer available. However, fabric samples of similar upholstery fabric were provided without hesitation.

Having read poor durability reviews of cheaper sofas we bought a C&H sofa. From the outset the back cushions sagged and were uncomfortable and after several weeks an inspector weighed them and confirmed they were under-filled and arranged replacements. After several emails we were told they were in the standard production run and we would have to wait, so a couple of months after that they arrived. They were damp and filthy so waited for a second inspection which took long enough for them to dry out, but we were told the grubbiness was normal from a factory - it must have been grease because we couldn’t clean it. The new inspector didn’t bother weighing them but said they were bound to be ok and put them in the covers. We tolerated that as we had already been several months without a usable sofa but whilst they are better they still keep losing shape and need constant plumping. On top of that the fabric shows the slightest mark and even wiping with a damp sponge shows that for weeks later. As soon as we can afford it we will get rid of this ridiculously overpriced item.
Postscript: A local upholstery company is making new fillings with a stiffer core and feather/down wrap so it will keep the shape. They told me the fillings were the wrong design for the covers as they are pillow design instead of box edge, so they were never going to be any good.

I am extremely disappointed with my purchase, the seating which i asked to be firm is not in my opinion firm, the fabric is poor quality i can see signs of the fabric being loose and its only two weeks old. I have to say i purchased Collins and Hayes as my previous sofas purchased twenty years ago had been fabulous and has stood the test of time. This new one is just not of the quality and standard i had expected from Collins and Hayes. I tried contacting their after sales not to complain but to query and got no response. Poor Show all together

I sent for cover samples over two weeks ago. Whilst the postal services are currently slow I doubt if I will now receive these samples.

Having owned a Collins and Hayes Lavinia extra large and a medium sofa for over 15 years it still is comfy and well presented. Through regular machine washing of the slip covers, they have shrunk by about half an inch in length but I wash them every 6 months religiously! I've bought up my family and used the extra large sofa for sleeping on occasionally (without the back cushions it makes a very decent single bed for rare occasions). The medium sofa fits two people well with space between. We recently went to look for a replacement. We spent weeks sitting and visiting stores. My family were delighted when they found the sofa they want and were very surprised when I told them that it's the sofa they have the Lavinia (only the new design has two cushions on the extra large instead of the 3 we have - which is what confused them). We are looking into refurbishing ours or replacing it. Problem is refurbishment is coming near to the same price as replacing and yet the frame is in very very good condition - A difficult choice! We love our Lavinia sofa. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Collins and Hayes!

Absolutely shocking after sales treatment, and still cannot get it right even though FIRA has come twice to assess the situation and twice you have had a report on both occasions, I bought a large Lavinia sofa and chair I still had my small Lavinia so only boughtnew covers and new primalux interior cushions, they were delivered but not my for my large sofa and chair , my cover for my chair was broken, threads on all the covers which hadn’t been finished off properly, feet broken, lucky the gentleman I bought the sofas off had spare ones , I have finally had a new cover but only through FIRA but there’s still the issue with the cushions!! Oh yes you have sent new cushions but their not primalux the ones I have paid extra for , so once again I have 3 large cushions I do not want and no idea when they will be picked up , also I noticed the thickness of my new cover is quite thicker than the other covers which I prefer as the covers on the sofas are basically thin and look scruffy, their not even a year old , the whole experience has been an absolute nightmare so I would say stay well clear of Collins and Hayes unfortunately

I was a little unsure how the online instore consultation would work. Really impressed. Fiona was absolutely brilliant, it felt unrushed and her product knowledge was excellent. I was also shown the fabric books and in turn a number of swatches are being posted out to me. Thank you.

We found our online consultation with Fiona recently extremely helpful. In the absence of being able to visit the showroom at the moment, this was definitely the next best option. It has clarified our thoughts about replacing our existing Collins and Hayes sofas which have served us well for 20 years!

Thank you so much Fiona for the brilliant virtual tour this morning. I found it so helpful speaking to an expert who knows the range of products and could answer my specific queries.
A great idea given the current lockdown situation. I can start to make some progress with my project as I have had most of my queries answered already. Thank you.
Best Wishes
Christine

Had a virtual contact with Fiona at the showroom to go through swatches , sofa types etc and ask a few questions.
Found this service very helpful being able to see larger swatches and actual sofas.
Arranged some swatch samples to be sent out as such a vast choice to choose from.
Thanks again great service.

Continuing the tale of my C&H Radley sofa. The back feather cushions are now completely collapsed. We are plumping every few minutes to no avail. The seat cushions are wrinkled and shabby looking and we have had the item less than a year. In spite of 2 assessor visits ( one said the back cushions were a little light) both reports say the sofa is perfect.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT,
Collins and Hayes will not speak directly to you as a customer to try and resolve issues they just send you back to the supplier who sends out assessor who says it’s perfect. We spent over £1800 on this sofa and we are now at the point of giving it to a charity shop after 8 months so we can buy an alternative. This is the very worst customer service I’ve ever come across, they really don’t care about the quality of their product or the happiness of their customers AVOID

Very disappointed with our Collins and Hayes Remus 2 and 3 seater sofa set. After 5 1/2 years of light usage the the springs have failed on both sofas. Having telephoned customer services it is apparent that they are not covered with the lifetime promise and not prepared to offer any solutions. Very disappointed as I was taken in at point of sale with the premium quality claims in line with the premium price.

Well here go's another radley sofa story only wish i had read the reviews on this company before i bought.
Same old same old so nothing new for collins and hayes to ignore. Sofa is drastically collapsing in on us has we sit on it to the point you cant actually see the person sat beside you. Thought i was buying a luxury item after looking in there stately home style brochure clearly not. Currently going thought the motion of waiting for an assessor but thanks to trust pilot i have some idea of what im going to be up against. So i only write this in hope that a future buyer finds an alternative company.

Fabulous service. Not only did Collins and Hayes repair the arm of my 10 year old sofa for free when it collapsed a bit, but a couple of years later they sent me a new wheel when that broke.
I have been so impressed with the after service, but the sofas are great too. They are still super comfy and the material is very little warn considering the amount of use and they wash really well.

Despite a lot of platitudes, reading the reviews - C&H STILL seem to be unable to make cushions that last more than a few months - For the love of god, how hard can it be!! Make them properly or, don't make them at all! You really shouldn't be in business if you can't supply a quality product for the premium price - read my review - GET YOUR MONEY BACK - I did! - Don't just walk away - they are still
selling unsatisfactory produc.
As many reviewers on here seem to be discovering: COLLINS AND HAYES HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THEIR CUSHIONS! IF YOU HAVE HAD AN ISSUE, READ THIS!!!
Review Updated July 2020.
Following a complaint about a seat cushion that had lost its texture, C&H sent a replacement. This replacement lost its texture within about 6 week!
I spoke to the retailer and they arranged for an independent FIRA inspection (NOT the cowboys C&H send they tell you one thing and C&H another - see below).
FIRA guy inspected and declared 'MANUFACTURING DEFECT'!!
I contacted the retailer and told them I was rejecting the sofa under the consumer rights act - Sofa was collected and returned for a refund!!!
Original review:
The first set of covers didn't fit - retailer had a battle to get replacements as the inspector they arranged told me the fit was terrible but then put 'no fault found' in the report.
Even thought I paid the extra for the cushion upgrade, the seat cushions don't hold their shape (the bit where I sit is about 4-5 inches lower than the another part of the cushion) and are therefore not comfortable to sit on as they don't provide support - C&H supplied a replacement insert but, its just the same - it looks like an unmade bed!
Several reviewers on here have said the same - this sofa is worth about half what they're charging for them.
