Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 72 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers strongly complained that the company significantly undervalued their residential properties, which caused important house sales and mortgage arrangements to unexpectedly fall through. Reviewers frequently reported that the staff members were extremely unprofessional, rude, and completely dismissive during the scheduled home inspection appointments. Buyers and sellers alike felt that paying for these unreliable valuation services was a total waste of hard-earned money. Though some customers noted that specific surveyors were surprisingly polite, chatty, and respectful during their property visits, the overwhelming feedback remained heavily negative regarding the overall service quality.

Waste of time

Back to the drawing board in getting a remortgage thanks to the undervalue from Countrywide Surveyors.
Purchased my property in 2016 and there always been a gradual increase any time it has been valued.
So in the final steps of getting my remortgage, all checks passed and just the valuation needed.
My last was in September 2024 at £217k so the current estimate at £225k i was fairly optimistic only needing it to be £220k to have my remortgage.
To my surprise the valuation was £200k so somehow its has gone down by that amount.
No explanation. I even queried if there was something spotted in terms of work needed, perhaps structural.issue or something. But apparently not so I don't understand how the value could drop by such an amount.
Thanks for wasting my time.
If you're going with lender thats using this company perhaps keep your expectation low or find another!!!

Staff Hang Up on You

I called them back after they left a message on my phone regarding a valuation. The man said that nothing is coming up with the reference number they gave me or the postcode of our property, and just hung up the phone. SHOCKING!!!!

absolute knobjockeys

Edit.....
In reply to Countrywide, I can't contact the lender, apart from the fact I'm not privvy to that information, my estate agent has said it's pointless, as there is no report available to check the details you've valued the bungalow on, and so we have no grounds to argue, and plus this is your mistake, you should fix it.

OK, I'm selling my late parents home, the money from this home goes to pay their grandchildrens inheritance. We had 3 valuations from 3 different estate agents, a local one, a large nationwide one and a smaller regional estate agent, all valuations came out around the same figures. We settled on a price with our buyers that was towards the lower end of the mid price, bearing in mind that the house had been fully remodelled in the last few years. and was a corner plot of land with a vast plot, but there is also an equity release on the property which puts a timescale on how long we have to sell. These numnuts have valued the property 15k less which is in line with the smaller plot bungalows with no remodelling. When the chap came round, he never once asked about plot boundaries, he didn't view the garden properly, and never once asked about the remodel, in fact he said nothing other than, "has the loft got a ladder". I can not explain the sick feeling this is giving me, my parents ashes are boiling with anger. They worked their bloody socks off to give their grandkids a future, no thanks to these absolute jeb ends.

Undervalued

Once again.. undervalued property resulting in not being able to remortgage with a new lender.
Common theme with these guys, not sure why high street banks still have them on their panel!
£40k difference..
Apparently just used right move for comparison of properties that are nothing like ours and out of the estate.
Thanks for ruining our plans.
Banks if you read this.. you are wasting money paying for valuations from them. If you can't then support the customer at the end you are not earning this money back.
Useless! Don't even reply to reviews either!!!

Awful from start to finish

Booked via a broker for house valuation. Surveyor turned up earlier than scheduled, pressed the ring intercom and waited 2 mins before leaving. Refused to come back and their policy is wait 15 minutes. I cancelled my service and got a refund. Terrible company.

They came and did a survey on our home…

John did a survey on our home he undervalued my home saying it had cracks ,which it has not ,it has a wire hanging down, also the other crack is Not there either he said our toilet is leaking,it is not, also creaky floor which could lead to wood Beatles , which is Not, he said the is a problem at the side of our home and took a picture, the only thing on the side of our home is dust where we tap the hoovers air filters on to clean them ,we cleaned the dust off and problem gone ,very intrusive he went inside my wife's wardrobe ,taking pictures, he did not ask any permission, he was standing on my son s bed to touch the wall .also outside, he was trying to pull of a round part of the front of our garage roof,it has been a very bad experience with him and he has tried to devalue our home with Not these problems our home has been valued by four independent valuers and all four have said the same valuation £270000 Not £240000 which he has said. We will Never let him or anyone else in our home again.

AVOID! if you can

How is this company still getting business? Our mortgage company sent this company out to value our property for reevaluating and remortgage! No wonder they use them, 60k lower than 3 other estate agents previously quoted the week prior. The same house in the same street without extension sold for 30k more than what ours is valued at. They are lining their pockets and doing this on perpose for the banks sake! Now we can’t get a higher loan to value. Avoid at all costs, if you have the choice!! Unfortunately we didn’t and we can’t even dispute it. SHOCKING

2nd TERRIBLE experience with this company

2nd experience with this company, several years apart, but still the same pathetic service. 1st time they undervalued a property I wanted to buy, and due to this it fell through. 2nd time they undervalued a property we want to sell, however our buyer has now used another lender that doesn’t use this trash, and guess what…. It sailed through! These people not only run a terrible business, but they’re affecting people’s lives.
BE WARNED….AVOID THIS COMPANY!

Bombarded with calls and texts

Getting absolutely hounded by this company. So forceful to get booked in, I live in a rental property and the landlord has asked for this. They don’t even explain who they are when they call or how they got my details, I had to check with my landlord it wasn’t a scam.

I’ve told them I can’t make any of the appointments they offered because I work.

They are so urgent to get booked in, it’s stressful.

I’ve told them I will get them booked in when I can but they just keep bombarding me with texts and calls.

They booked themselves in for a Monday and I’d already told them I’d be at work, and when I called them to say that, they made me feel bad that the surveyor was on his way, but I’d already told them I would be at work.

Absolutely awful service and no respect for people being busy at all.

Horrendous

Horrendous. I tried to get a B2L mortgage as I wanted to rent to my son (who is unable to get a mortgage). Country wide came out- the same guy Gregory for two different lenders, Coventry and NatWest and undervalued. This was because it’s a council house with very few previous sale in that street! People don’t sell as they live in this nice area for forever. Clearly no knowledge of the area. All nice to the sellers face, blaming the banks for their “ticky box” assessments. I could cry honestly as I don’t want to lose this house. Devestated honestly. How can the same surveyer go to the same house for two different banks?? The first rejection took 5 days for the feedback, the second only 24 hours! Clearly cut and pasted his report for ease.
I’m unable to appeal as it’s the bank who sent them out. I’m now totally deflated.
Please check which surveyors the bank uses when you apply for a mortgage. Country wide are to be avoided if possible.

Rude and obnoxious

Contacted by this company on behalf of a potential buyer. They did not provide the most basic introcuction of their name, company, or explain who they were acting on behalf of. Throughout the conversation they were rude and obnoxious. They announced when they would be calling round, and unreasonably asked that a key be left outside for them to access the property when it became clear I could not be there. They need training in the rudimentary basics of customer service. Little they do at the moment distinguishes them from scammers. Except perhaps scammers would make more of an effort.

Not a surveyor more of an Assasin

I’m disappointed there’s not a minus rating for this company.
I wrote a damning review of this company a few weeks ago after the surveyor all but trashed our home. Only for CountryWide to complain about my review and asked for it to be removed.

But Trustpilot confirmed my review was accurate and fair, proving that me and many other reviewers who condemn countrywide surveyors for such poor service have been vindicated.

Valuation

Richard Johns from Countrywide Surveyors attended our home as requested from our bank for a remortgage. We received a text the night before with a time slot, then Richard called when he was around 10 minutes away. He was kind, and respectful. He walked round inside, then looked around the outside of the property. The bank received the valuation the same afternoon. Would highly recommend.

This is a HORRENDOUS company

This is a HORRENDOUS company. Our buyers mortgage lender required a valuation of our property. The cowboy that was here cited that he couldn’t value our property because our house had had a loft conversion that didn’t comply with building and fire regs. Well our house has NEVER had a loft conversion. The “loft conversion” in question has been a bedroom since the house was built in the 1800s. There’s even a covered Victorian fireplace in there! Our buyers mortgage ended up being refused based on this outright lie. AVOID this company like the plague.

Paul was unprofessional

Paul was unprofessional, clueless, went on a rant about an unrelated topic. Undervalued by £50K compared to a valuation in 2025 and undervalued by £30K compared to a valuation carried out by a different lender THE PREVIOUS WEEK. Forgot to even measure and had to come back. I know countrywide are awful but expected a decent service - should have known all along. Complete waste of time

Extremely inflexible and unreasonable

Engaging with them to arrange a mortgage valuation for the buyer of my current flat. They are super inflexible and quite rude - they offered only one free day (and no specific time slot) to come and do the valuation. When I couldn't do it I asked what other availability they had (I had an in person work commitment and they only gave me 1 day notice!), they became quite rude as if I was the one being unreasonable. They then hung up and I had to go through the same process when a different person who rang the next day. Finally managed to get something booked in for next week, but then they rang again to request that I be in today for a valuation, when I'm literally already at work...
