Please read my post fully and avoid Craig's Honda at all cost!

I will post below my e-mail to Craig's Honda from 28th December for readers to make up their own mind about my what happened to me on 27th December 2021 on a bike I had bought from them in September 2021.

Having received my e-mail I was called back by Matt (according to another review he is the owner's son but I don't know this for sure) the following day (29th December), only to be shouted and ranted at and to be told 'we don't want you or your bike here, go somewhere else.

It has to be said that after the incident I had on a bike I bought from them in September '21 that was the very last response I expected. An apology and gesture of goodwill would have been a good starting point instead of being brushed off very rudely. Customer service skills - nil.

Please read this e-mail I sent to Craig's Honda on 28th December; if this saves just one person from having the same thing happen, with a possibly worse outcome then I have achieved what I wanted with this review:

Hello,
I spoke to Matt on 27th December 2021 to inform him that my Honda CB650R had died on me mid-traffic and Honda Care was on it's way. I called to check when you were re-open and if there was warranty as it is a 3 moths old bike.

When the AA guy arrived and examined the bike it transpired that it was in fact the Oxford heated handle grips fitted by Craig's Honda in house that caused this. Two issues of negligence on your part became apparent. Firstly, you left a live wire uncovered against the petrol tank (I have a photograph of this) and it rubbed itself bare, hence fusing and causing the bike to stall in traffic!!! This clearly outlines the second part of your negligence, namely the Oxford grips are fused into the MAIN fuse of the bike so if any issues arise (which they did), the bike will just clonk out mid ride!

I have put my concern to Honda UK and I am seeking legal advice. I just wanted to inform you that some serious negligence and a very lucky outcome (me still being alive) are of grave concern to me in regards to how you deal with the safety of your customers!

I have zero confidence in Craig's Honda Shipley after this incident and will be seeking compensation.

Hopefully someone senior at your outfit will have the decency to get in contact with me about this and not shirk your responsibilities from what could have so easily been a fatal error on your part.

Sincerely,

HAPPY CUSTOMER

I have purchased 2 bikes from Jack at Craigs Honda now, I got a good deal on part exchange for the new bike.
Jack is always very helpful and polite.
I turned up for the bike and it was all sorted in about 15 minutes.
Cheers Jack ☺

Deposited

Well today I spoke to the dealership Lol.
I’m glad I have a sense of humour.
So to recap I placed a deposit down on a used bike.
I had a bereavement in the family which changed my situation.
So I email and asked for my deposit back to which I was told it was none refundable. Then I was told it would be put into my account so when I wanted to buy a bike from them it would be there.
Well wait for it, I emailed Jack and he said it was in this account to use when I was ready to buy another bike.
I told him I wasn’t happy about this and was now not considering to to unforeseen circumstances I was in. So he past it on to management.
Now I know what your thinking management called and sorted it out. Lol not on your Nelly so I placed a review. And sent an email to Matt (management).
I was told because I had made a review on trust pilot I could fight for it in court which I emailed I would do to get some response.
It worked they call to give me the answer which I recorded the call buy the way for evidence, that I could take them to court as it would cost me more in the long run as they were good for it.
Well they lit the fuse paper as now I’m writing to trading standards and I’ve see a few others on here with similar complaints. So this is for you and Karma will be a wonderful thing into not about the £250 now.
Matt you are a fool.

Absolutely useless

Absolutely useless, didn’t call me back wouldn’t valve service the bike which was due within 300 miles of purchase as agreed prior, incorrect tyres fitted and salesman Keith couldn’t be arsed. Quite possibly the worst Honda dealer in the country

I put a deposit down on a bike £250.00.

I put a deposit down on a bike £250.00.
I have a death in the family so i couldn't go through with the purchase.
So i asked to have my deposit back due to the circumstances. I was told it will go onto my account??
I live in Cornwall and not Yorkshire so going in and making a purchase isn't going to happen.
Firstly i have no account no account number and was told they deposits are non-refundable!!!!!!!!!!! I was told this when i asked for it back and not when placing the order.
Do now i intend to take the matter further.
Totally discussed.
You know who i am so sort it.

Pros and cons

Enquired about a used Honda NC750X DCT. Dealt with Kieth in sales who told me it was a 1 owner bike with a full service history with Craigs Honda and I could have delivery by the end of the following week so I bought it. I asked if I could have a video of the bike but was told they don't do that (Not sure that was actually correct) It was actually a 2 owner bike with a service history from an independent dealer not Craigs Honda and arrived a week late. When I raised the "Mis-information" issue with Kieth he apologised but that was it. I expect Honda main dealer staff to give the correct information to a prospective customer. The plus is I do like the bike.

Great experience from the start. When down to have a look at a few Africa twins, after a few test rides on different models we came away with 2!! Would advise anyone looking at buying a bike to go to them first. Matt especially couldn’t do enough for us !! Will be back

Motorbike Purchase

I enquired about a motorbike and went to see it at their Shipley show room. I thought the service and advise was really good and professional at all times. I was positively engaged by Jack throughout and would not hesitate to use their services again.

Lose your deposit

Bought a bike from them & also liked another so negotiated for the 2nd bike which was accepted. Paid the deposit.
Then things became a mess because of Covid lock downs and getting the bike arranged & delivered. Communication was terrible to the point of not taking my calls or replying to the emails. Deliberately avoiding me. After paying the deposit I called up 29x and had 16 email conversations to arrange it...just wouldnt respond - weeks would go by & always told he'd reply or call back. It got to the point that it really came across as a scam.
Then surprisingly I was told 'the bikes been sold' & I'm well ok but where's my deposit, you didnt get in touch with me & I have consumer rights.
In the conversations Matt would say 'oh no the bike has now gone, I sold it. you've lost your deposit' Then we'd talk and I'd try to be amicable to work a way thru it & he'd then surprisingly say 'the bikes available but the guy hasnt paid for it, you can have it if you pay more of a deposit'...and it went on and on calling him every week with bad lies - really unnecessary & why this behaviour(?).
He then asked for another £2K to secure the bike but when told I wanted security like paypal or card payment: no, only unsecured bank transfers which I'd be unable to get back..really this is theft from the guy.
In the end he refused to pay back the deposit as there was no way I was going to pay £2K to him when there was no evidence the bike even existed anymore or hadn't been trashed (refused to send updated pictures)
On top of this - the 1st bike I bought had a problem that needed rectifying, cost £132 to do so - in every email/ conversation Matt would say 'oh it must be the finance lady, its stuck with her it will be paid today, ok, bye': after over a year of the nonsense - I called his Father the original owner of the business & told him about all the stupid games & behaviour with a Customer & to end the nonsense; payment was made that evening.
Wouldnt go near this business unless you're buying right there with cash and get away quickly from them; am hoping Matt's father realises what his son is doing to this business he built up.

Africa twin 13K spent. Lied too.

Africa twin. £13k spent.
I saw the bike, enquired for a test ride. I offered to the sales man Jack that I would pay for the test ride miles if needed and left my deposit. Test ride was all good. After the test I mentioned im happy to go ahead with the purchase I just need to check three things. 1st the tyre was plugged and I asked for a new tyre to be put on. Again I said I was happy to see a cost for this. 2nd add a center stand happy to pay for it. 3rd After my own checks on the bike please check for recall work on the tank. Jack asked the sale manager I presume about the tyre and I was told a part worn tyre would be swapped. I didnt agree to this and said to Jack no I want a new tyre not a part worn again were talking £130 tyre on a 13k bike. We set a collection date for Friday the 19th March. I called them on thursday the 18th to check and I was told the bike was ready. Turned up Friday all excited.... That turned quickly to a sick feeling. After 35 mins in the dealership and waving off my lift I was told. We havent got a manual for this bike, we have lost one of the keys somewhere and they decided to tell me after finding the spare key that the bike does need a recall after all, they didnt check it and it needs to be returned!!!! Also they fitted a part worn tyre which has a split in the tread already!!! On top of this the bike was pressure washed down mins before wheeling it out soaking wet all over including the seat and also with the dipstick part removed so who knows how much water is in the system now. No attempt to hand this over clean even didnt even put the valve cap back on the front wheel. I was close to loosing it in the car park feeling sick and being told by Jack how sorry he was and I could have a refund if I wanted. No good as I had sold my other bike already so im very shakey and feeling like ive been done right over. Left in a car park lost really. Worst dealer experience ive had, bought 8 bikes in my lifetime but I have never had a collection be so bad before. The key turned up after an hour stood in the showroom in my bike gear waiting. I didnt try screw em on price and offered to pay for extras that they still couldnt be bothered to supply correct. Ive had assuranced it will be sorted but given what ive experienced I very much doubt it. No trust now from this dealer and the standard of service you get. I would have been annoyed if I had have recieved this level of service buying a cheap winter bike but a 2020 ATAS at 13k im devastated. Main sales man could hear the whole thing and didnt even have decency to come and check whats happened and offer any reassuring words. I will update after the recall work. Lets see what they do or dont do as the case will probably be.

Great experience

Great experience, all handled remotely. Jack helped from a sales perspective - accurate description of bike and no nonsense approach to a p/ex deal. Bike delivered a few days later by Andrew who also took my p/ex away. All in all, very straightforward as a purchase and got a courtesy follow up call a few days afterwards., couldn't ask for anything more.

Great all round friendly service

Saw a nice R1 on line , having not really bought like this before spoke to Matt who confirmed condition and agreed a deal saying bike would be delivered within a week.
Matt delivered himself and bike was exactly as described very happy ,just need a bit more temperature to scrub the new tyres in.
Only thing I think could be improved is Email confirming purchase and deposit taken as quite disconcerting paying money over the phone when the shop is over 200 miles away.
Would happily buy from again if only i had some room left in the garage
