I mimic what others are saying about…

I mimic what others are saying about this organisation! I have some information about someone, that might help to piece together a timeline of events. This is someone already known to the police, of which they are appealing for further information, where they have given, as well as the non-emergency police line, the crime stoppers contact, in order to report this information. So I say and did this last night on the crime stoppers page and set up an anonymous log in. I tried to log in several times to check that it was all working ok, which it was, then I tried this morning, and I can’t log in at all, and it’s saying my log in attempt has failed! No questions, no reasoning, no thank you for your information it will be passed on accordingly, nothing! Now I’m left wondering if this information will be passed on or not. Probably not. As I’ve now noticed that it stipulates several incidences where this is not the channel of which to report it. Such as:
Report an emergency,
You are a victim of crime,
Benefit fraud,
Scam emails or phone calls,
Untaxed vehicles,
Minor driving offences,
Dumped vehicles,
Noise complaints,
Fly-tipping,
Missing people.
What can you report then??
Ridiculous!

Put on hold and then cut off

Tried to ring Crime Stoppers for a second time. Spoke to a gentleman who asked me to hold and then cut me off. Sadly, it seems to me, they are really not very interested in getting information to help in stopping crime. I will not bother to ring them again.

We are very sorry that you had this experience interacting with our charity. All incoming calls are important and we train our call handlers to answer these in the most professional way possible. Unfortunately we are unable to support victims of crime - Crimestoppers exist to take information about crime anonymously and pass the anonymised information to the police. We do have a list of other organisations that may help if you have been a victim of crime.

Absolutely appalling. Shockingly bad and rude.

Absolutely appalling! Shocking in fact. The woman who answered the phone was abrupt and rude. She had zero interest in what I was telling her from the first moment, basically telling me that they did not deal with certain issues even though there are many signs that advertise their number. Honestly, do not even bother to consider them. It made me feel bad. This extremely rude and useless woman just hung up on me basically. It was as stark a contrast as possible from the lady at VOICE Victim Support that I spoke with yesterday, who was so pleasing to talk with and very helpful indeed with top notch telephone manner.
If I could give Crimestoppers zero stars I would. Waste of time. Some "charity" - it should be de-listed.

I am honestly hurt and shaken up how I was treated by a call respondent.I felt uncomfortable and worried to say my issue as I feel I was a stupid victim and it was my fault I got scammed. I spoke to the respondent and with a demanding tone she said “what’s your crime?” And I said “scammed” and she said again in a more aggressive tone “why did you do it and what was it for” which I felt completely embarrassed to say, as I felt I was being treated like a clown more then I felt. I am also very young but was not asked. When I told her why I sent it, she proceeded to say “okay we’ll call 111 bye.” And ended the call . I was completely shaken up. I understand they may deal with completely other cases but it is a help line for all. For me to feel my issue was pointless to discuss was out of bound. My mental state has deteriorated and calling this line did not make any things better.

Reported a daily drink driver twice

Reported a daily drink driver twice. No change so assume no action. If Crimestoppers reported him to the police I have to assume they haven't responded. This doesn't surprise me as we are paying more and more for an ineffective police service.

Contacted the Metropolitan Police anti-corruption unit twice regarding a family of criminals that have too much influence over the police in Wandsworth. There was no response, the said family have been able to pervert the course of justice for eight years - Wandsworth police cover for them. What is the difference between the MPS and the Mafia?

-The Anti-Corruption line for the Met is a Con dont bother using it

-The Anti-Corruption line for the Met police is a con. They take the bare minimum details and then say someone will contact you in 6 days. They never do. Mainly because the phone back group is run by the Met so 1. They lie that this service is independent and 2. They arent interested in investigating corruption in the Met

Just for your information.

Contacted these people in relation to a sexual offence. First woman I spoke with frustrated the hell out of me by asking for info I had already given, to the extent I told her that I was starting to regret making the call. Her response was "to feel free to contact the police on 101" defeating the point of these people even existing. I asked to speak with a manager who, although the info was on the screen in front of her, automatically jumped to the conclusion the offender was Asian. Even to me as a white man something that felt very racist. It became obvious that the first woman was being trained on the job after her manager told me she was sitting by her during the call. Surely due to the serious nature of the some calls they'll receive, they should be fully trained before taking any calls at all. Please don't let this post put you off reporting a crime, that's not my intention. This is here to make you aware that you might speak to someone untrained & come up against unsavoury behavior, even from a manager who should know better. Hopefully someone from the organisation reads this & resolves the issues internally. There are clear issues that need to addressed.

Absolutely crap

Absolutely crap. No help at all. I spoke to A guy from the charity who was pretty much laughing down the phone. I have some suspicion of sex trafficking they said that I need more information e.g. like the persons name and address. How would I know the persons name and address when they’re using a fake name and website. If you need to report a crime do not approach the charity it’s a waste of time, report it straight to the police. Stay safe.

Not a great experience.

Got through quickly but the woman was very off hand from the start, to the point that I just hung up before I actually got to speak about why i had called. To give me such a bad vibe for calling is just unacceptable! Even as a volunteer she should be mindful that people ring in extremely vulnerable situations or people with serious information to give. Come on Crimestoppers are you actually regulating these calls? This lady has let you down.

Very unfair reviews here

Very unfair reviews here. Over 90% of their calls are from business competitor, angry ex wives and malicious calls. They have an excellent system to vet these and many reviews here claiming they won’t take action as there is no evidence. We do not live in a dystopia and crime needs evidence

Dont expect so much as a thank you

Reported the same crime to Crimestoppers, my local police and Trading Standards 5 times in two years and eventually was told that they couldn’t find any evidence of what I saw happening every day. Several weeks later I read in the local paper that in fact several arrests were made, lots of laundered money and illegal items were found and confiscated. That was over a year ago and to this day none of those agencies has been in contact with me to at least say thank you. I’m happy that these people were caught but after all my efforts (and risk to myself) to then not even receive an acknowledgement that I assisted, really? I shan’t bother in future.

Poor Service. The operator could not have been more disinterested. They dismissed my report (noted over many months of strange activity) because it was 'suspicion'. What do they expect? - a full watertight case with CPS backing? Utterly useless.
