Wouldn't trust anywhere else

When our dog suddenly lost the use of her back legs, we ended up at an out of hours hospital in Southend - after consultation we were effectively given 2 options - extensive and emergency surgery on her back, costings ££££'s or euthanize !!
We knew there had to be another option and not being our usual vets, we wanted a second opinion from Ais at Crouch Vale.
So glad we did... a course of anti-imflamatories and painkillers and cage rest (we were told that it may not work and surgery may still be an option) - but she was jumping around like a 2 year old again within a couple of weeks.

Genuinely caring professional practice

This practice is genuinely caring and accommodating - I’ve had 5 dogs in total treated at this practice and never ever had any reason to doubt their treatment and extremely helpful with 2 rescue dogs who are difficult to manage. Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Took a cat there who had adopted us…

Took a cat there who had adopted us about 10 - 11 years ago. It had an eye infection and was not eating. I said the cat was not ours and that it was chipped. I said I would pay for any treatment. The vet said it was probably a tumor behind it's eye, without doing anything to confirm this. The cat was taken from me, put in another basket and taken to a back room. I was told they would contact the owner and that I would be contacted later that day - nothing heard back. Phoned to find out what had happened and told by the receptionist that due to "privacy laws" they were unable to tell me. That is a load of rubbish. I assume now that the poor thing has been put down, possibly without anyone being with it to fight it's case, when this was done. Will go elsewhere next time. Use at your own risk.

Avoid

Avoid - Do not keep accurate notes about treatments then blame caring compassionate pet owners for their errors! When trying to discuss this sensibly they are happy to talk over you and put the phone down when pointing out their errors. When the owner finally listens they apologise over locums they used who apparently? failed to write up notes correctly! Most worrying of all through spite do not honour repeat prescriptions which would actually help our dog.

Fantastic vets .. wouldn’t go anywhere else

We have 3 dogs and have been customers of Crouch Vale for nearly 3 years. We drive miles to go here.
They are consistently caring capable helpful and friendly. We never have a problem getting an appropriate appointment eg urgent, emergency or routine. They will always discuss our options and we are confident our pets welfare Is uppermost.
Would have no hesitation recommending Ash and her team.
Thanks for all your support with Donut Sula and Izzy

Don't trust this vet

My dog started finding it hard to breath so I took her to the vet. The vet decided she had a heart murmur so she must have fluid in her lungs. She gave my dog water tablets. She kept getting worse and I kept going back to the vet who kept saying she thought there must be more going on but still left my dog with the water tablets for 6 weeks. We took her in after Christmas for an X-ray which showed she had pneumonia so the vet changed her medication, 4 days later she was dead. The vet should have done the X-ray weeks earlier but chose not to and my dog died because of the vets sloppy handling of the problem. I now find the vet should have referred my dog to hospital as she said she thought there was something else going on. This vet gives an inadequate service. Her bedside manner is good but her service is poor.

Two years later a second of my dogs was unwell and this is what happened.
My dog had a heart murmur and was on medication. She started coughing so I took her to the vet. The vet gave her more tablets and sent us home. After two weeks she was not getting any better and a friend said I should ask for a referral to the hospital which I did. On the Thursday morning we went in as she was very poorly, got the referral and took her to London. She was taken in and then the consultant spoke to us saying she should have been referred when the coughing started. Two days later she was dead. This vet is very slack she talks about other people's pets as she did on the morning of our referral. She said she was glad she didn't have to see the horrible cat that was in the waiting room. She also said her nurse didn't like me and wanted her to be horrible to me so that I would leave. Yes I did realise she was talking about me. This is a very unprofessional practice. She didn't even say sorry that my dog had died. All she cares about is building her empire.
