Just completed the “Learning About Cruise Retail Accounting”, this was a powerful eye-opener into how retail operations work onboard.
Now I have a better understanding of PPD (Passenger Per Day) and daily targets, to the full lifecycle of a product, pricing strategies, tax implications, and how profit is actually calculated in a cruise retail environment.
The overall experience was marvellous.
Learning about luxury retail through Cruise Retail Academy was such an insightful and joyous experience. The module covered subjects like marketing strategies and even touched on the history of luxury. While being a broad topic, it also was not overwhelming and was easily digestible and I found myself following along quite easily.
I enjoyed the lessons, challenge and achieving the milestone. This was an excellent overview of cruise retail. The lessons were easy to understand, and I found the platform to be user-friendly. Truly grateful for the knowledge gained and to the people that put this together.
My understanding on ‘Luxury Retail’ was pretty vague, but there’s more to what constitutes as luxury items; beyond the price margin. Thanks to the Cruise Retail Academy for the in-depth guide and expanding my interest in luxury retail. Such an invaluable course.

This course is chock-full with volumes of information which I must say is impressive as to how it was compiled but I had managed to pull through it. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed completing this diploma. What impressed me most was how the course goes beyond theory and delivers practical, actionable tools that can be applied immediately in a cruise retail environment.
The structure across seven modules works well—starting with Self-Awareness as the foundation, then building through Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Resilience, Critical Thinking, Personal Branding, and finally Goal Setting. Each module connects back to real-world scenarios onboard a ship, which makes the learning relevant and easy to relate to.
The inclusion of frameworks like SMART goals, OKRs, DISC, SCAMPER, and the Eisenhower Matrix gives leaders a solid toolkit to work with. I also appreciated the podcast recaps, end-of-module quizzes, and the final goal-setting template—they helped reinforce the key takeaways.
One thing that stood out was the consistent emphasis on behavioural development over technical skills. It's a refreshing reminder that how we lead, communicate, and show up matters more than just knowing the operational side of things.
If I had to highlight one area that might be easily overlooked but is absolutely essential—it's the "No Banana" culture discussed in the Emotional Intelligence module. Creating psychological safety where team members feel safe to speak up, make mistakes, and grow without fear of shame or blame is something every leader should prioritise, yet it's so often forgotten in high-pressure environments.
Overall, a well-structured, insightful, and practical course. I'd recommend it to anyone serious about growing their leadership career in cruise retail.
