Beware of Hidden Fees and Cancellation…

Beware of Hidden Fees and Cancellation Hassles at Crunch Fitness

I joined Crunch Fitness a couple of months ago and unfortunately found that it wasn’t the right fit for me. I decided to move to Planet Fitness for a better and more affordable experience. When I contacted Crunch Fitness to cancel last month, they not only charged me a $25 cancellation fee, but also billed me for an additional month of membership. Today, they attempted to charge me yet another $25 on top of that last month’s fee, just to finalize my cancellation.

In short, what should have been a straightforward cancellation turned into a frustrating series of extra fees and unexpected charges. I want to warn anyone considering Crunch Fitness to be very cautious. Their cancellation policy is not transparent, and you may end up paying far more than you expected just to leave.

I hope this review helps others avoid the same experience. If you value transparency and fair treatment, think twice before signing up with Crunch.

Unsafe equipment and zero accountability from management or corporate

I had a very disappointing and unsafe experience at Crunch Fitness Plantation. While using a treadmill, I injured my ankle due to a loose part on the equipment. I immediately reported the incident to staff, who assured me that an incident report would be filed.

When I followed up the next day after seeing a doctor, the report couldn’t be found, so we had to complete it again on the spot. I was told that corporate would reach out within a day — but no one ever did.

Over the following days, I repeatedly followed up, but received no updates. Eventually, I was told that corporate would handle it and that the gym could do nothing more. I never heard from anyone afterward.

This experience shows a complete lack of concern for member safety or accountability. The equipment was not adequately maintained, and management failed to follow through on a documented injury.

If you value your safety and want a gym that takes responsibility when things go wrong, I recommend reconsidering joining this location.

Awful experience trying to cancel my…

Awful experience trying to cancel my membership. The guy was rude af and said since I didn’t give a 30 day notice they would charge me for the next month which is 20 days away from being due and also the 30 day notice is required for the annual fee as well which is also due in 20 days. That is crazy. They have plenty of time to cancel it without charging me again. No other membership requires a 30 day notice. I should have read the reviews. Apparently everyone has issues with cancellations.

The one I went to 9173 Roosevelt Blvd…

The one I went to 9173 Roosevelt Blvd Philadelphia PA 19114, all managers since they have opened the GYM three years ago, all managers have no idea how to utilize computer or work on the database, the last three years I gave them my credit card for annual payment but they did it by a month and immediately started charging me penalty for $15 per month, not only that, they sent it to collection without sending me any letter.

This week on Friday, 10/24:2025 around 11 am, I went to this GYM, the manager called me from my workout and told me he sent to collection because I did not paid, I tried to explained to him that I paid for the year on June 8th, 2025 but he came very close to me to hit me, he also told me to leave the Gym immediately “leave my Gum immediately” was his harsh word. I left the Gym that I told to all my friends to quit this gym, this is the worst Gym that I had been experienced the worst, the first year they charged me from the Debit card and the credit card double charge, next year again messed up, third year even worst and this Friday the manager told me to leave his gym otherwise he called the police or kick me by force.

This management is the worst I ever seen, they have no idea how the computer is working, they sent wrong bill to collection without notifying you

If they are honest managers, I go three times a week and when I scan my membership key they should tell me immediately about the payment, but they did not but the prefer to send to collection

I advise everyone, please leave this G and join LA fitness or Planet or one at Grant and welsh

Working with G at Crunch Fitness Gym…

Working with G at Crunch Fitness Gym Buford, in Georgia has been nothing short of life-changing. She encourages me to push my limits, helping me to build confidence and strength in ways I never imagined. Her consistency and punctuality are unmatched – she shows up every time, fully focused on me and my goals.

G is incredibly professional and sweet, creating a safe and motivating space where I feel seen and supported. She checks in on me throughout the week, since thoughtful recommendations, and is always available with educated helpful answers. Her encouragement is constant and it genuinely makes me want to do better- not just in physical fitness but in nutrition, health, spirit and mind.
I honestly don’t know where I would be without her. My life would be a bigger mess without G’s guidance and care. She is not just a great trainer – she’s my lifeline. I plan to stay with her forever!

Disgusting Character

I’m writing to express my extreme disappointment with the customer service I recently received at Crunch Fitness Carmel Valley.

Due to an unforeseen and heartbreaking family emergency, my husband and I have been out of the country for an extended period of time. His father has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, and we have been by his side during what is likely his final weeks. Naturally, we have not been able to use any gym services during this time.

Given the circumstances, we requested that our memberships be canceled. We were told that a 30-day notice is required and that we would be obligated to continue paying for a service we are not using and cannot use — which, frankly, feels unreasonable and unnecessarily rigid.

I understand that policies are put in place for operational consistency, and as an operations manager myself, I know the importance of upholding structure. However, I also know that policies should be applied with discretion and compassion, especially when customers are facing real human crises.

This experience has made it painfully clear that empathy and flexibility are not part of Crunch’s customer service ethos. What we hoped would be a simple and understanding conversation during an already overwhelming time turned into an added source of stress — one that could have easily been avoided with compassion from the management staff.

You’ve lost two customers — and while that may not matter to a large organization, I felt it was important to share this feedback. Staff must be trained not only in policy enforcement but in human connection. Compassion is not a weakness in business — it's a strength. It should go without saying, stealing money is not compassionate.

Love HIIT classes with Leela

I love doing HIIT classes at carrolwood with Leela and Hot yoga with both the Sarah(one on Tuesday and other one takes class on Sunday).

I have lost 20pounds just being consistent with Leela’s HIIT classes. She gives personal trainer level attention in those classes and always pushes people to reach their potential. If not for Leela, I wouldn’t have achieved my weight goals.

Mistakes, Lessons and Warnings

After reading the reviews about Crunch Fitness I understand that I am not the sole victim in this rip off scheme. Please be very careful before signing anything with this business.

I joined Crunch, Sioux Falls location in July 2025. After paying the basic membership fee, I was scheduled for a welcome and orientation hour with one of the PT's who managed to sell me a one-hour a week fitness time. He made me sign a 15 page document full of fine print. I got suspicious and asked him why it was necessary to sign an ellaborate contract for just one hour a week of exercise. He explained: You pay for the service for 6 months whether you use it or not, however, you can use the unused sessions at a later time and that is why the contract was so much in detail. It was not that convincing but it was a busy day and I didn't have much time to dig deeper into the fine print. Well, two days later, it was time for our first scheduled session and he didn't show up. No one in the gym had a phone number for him. I went again the following week and he was there but it was on and off for three months. Crunch charged my card regulary. I paid for 12 sessions and worked out four times with the PT. Then he quit and left. Now I am trying to cancel the contract and get a refund but the staff at the desk have no authorization. They keep telling me that the manager will get back to me. After 2 visits, 6 phone calls and promises to call back in the last 10 days the manager never called. Crunch Fittness HQ is not reachable by phone and they do not reply to emails. In the end they are making me pay for something I don't use. If I stop the payments obviously they will come after me with the contract. This looks like a case that will end up in court. So again; don't go in there.
