The free version is already a powerful software. I just thought I’d purchase this as it comes with the free speed editor. Given that it uses GPU, editing is faster, and it comes with even more features unavailable in the free version.

WITH the speed editor 'free' (which I got) this is a great deal... I HAD to buy the full version to access the AVC-100 codec which is mandatory for UK broadcast work. And to be honest I wanted rid of the nag screens that sometimes appear if you try to access an unsupported feature - I'd have been less happy just receiving something the size of a birthday card with a wee plastic 'credit card' thing inside for my 'sharp-end-of-£300' ...The Speed Editor keyboard makes all the difference both in terms of sweetening the deal and actually operating the software; in which respect it's a game-changer! ...an essential really!

4 stars because it's currently in beta. Once the gremlins are ironed out, it will be 5

I needed to buy a licence to access the AVC-100 codec which is mandatory for UK broadcast output, and was a tad resentful of having to pay the £280 for this. - Getting the speed editor panel WITH the program sweetened the deal, and really this IS what they need to be doing; shipping the licence with hardware. ...It's annoying too that I can't make the best use of my screen space by docking/undocking panels as you can with other programmes; creating a custom workspace. - That seems to me like a small (but important) thing. Otherwise - it is what it is which is a good value program that gets me AWAY from the greedy subscription model; the main reason why I'm deserting my existing edit software after 20-odd years.

Switching from Premiere Pro is really simple. This software is much more reliable and easier to use.

I upgraded to DaVinci resolve studio due to performance issues with the free version. It is undeniably expensive but I have no regrets. The best £270 I have ever spent.

Incredibly elegant software with great hardware utilisation. Features provided with the studio version are well worth the money.

Purchased after using Adobe Premiere Pro for some years but didn’t like the subscription model which was getting expensive. I first tried the free version of Resolve which gave me good results, the full version is superb, found loads of help on YouTube well worth the money.

This is the future. A one off payment for lifetime updates. How can Adobe compete ?

Been using the free version for a couple of years, since Adobe became a subscripion, just purchased the studio version, all the extras i hoped for, and a big one i was not expecting, rendering time is halved, the software now uses all my system resources. Buy it, you will not regret it. Well bone Blackmajic
