WO_017182 A couple of months ago i contacted data recovery regarding my dead hard drive The service from the initial emails and phone calls was the best yes it was expensive but they recovered all my photos which I thought had been lost forever I dropped off my hard drive at a collection point in town and received a usb stick with all my photos saved

Very professional service, they kept me informed all the time. Never made unrealistic promises. Obviously, not cheap, but for me, recovering all the family photos, it was well worth it.

Excellent experience, phone the same day of my enquiry, collected my hard drive and had a quote within a couple of days.
Always kept me informed at each stage and the download was easy to do. Had my data back within a couple of weeks.

The response was great. Right up to where the invoice was processed. Then zero comms apart from these requests for review.
The data has been recovered in an awkward format - multiple files not organised by the devise from which they originated.
We have emailed with questions but no info has been provided.

I don't understand the negative reviews that I read about this company. The service I received was professional and very good. My photos were recovered and it was easy - all I did was open the door to a dhl driver who took my hard drive. Communication was fantastic and I got my old hard drive back at the end. It is expensive but then I can't really put a price on recovering all of my photos from 20 years. I would recommend this company because they offer a quick, easy reliable service. I am enjoying looking through all my old photos again. Thank you.

Recovered my data. Good communications. I only took one star off because it was very expensive.

Beware. Online quote to get some photos off a memory card was £97 then received and email saying £197. After multiple phone calls badgering was persuaded to send for 'free evaluation'. I sent it and was then told it would be £675+vat for the missing data. What a joke. Added to this to get it back it was untracked seconds class royal mail or DHL courier at £18 I was told they couldn't send it via royal mail tracked and that they made no profit from delivery returns. I paid the £18 to get it back only for it to be delivered via tracked royal mail which they said they couldn't do. Cost about £5 so they made nearly £15 profit. Avoid and stay away there are far better out there. Also turns out it's a front for a company called field services. Reviews for that tell you all you need to know.

I needed to recover data from a mechanical disk that broke because of the age of the mechanism. In my case what needed to be done was not straight forward so probably not the cheapest example, but the service was great from the beginning to the end. They will always speak with you before hand so you know what to expect before recovering your data or charging you. Also they will keep you informed in every stage to make sure that they are doing what you need. I would 100% recommend them to be used.

It was a big relief that this company were able to recover my data.
For that I am incredibly grateful and amazed it could be recovered.
I had sleepless nights as I knew there was data I had nowhere else.
My data was on a mechanical drive and was around 8TB. I had some copies of it elsewhere but not all of it and it was my fault due to not backing up my recent work and getting in a muddle with my data and not being organised enough etc etc.
However it really helped that I had made a handwritten diagram of what I had on this drive which helped me once they were able to tell me what they had found.

However - there are two things I’d like to point out (apologies for lengthy essay!):
1. COST
The cost was truly eye-watering. My data recovery was in 4 figures and not just into 4 figures.
I never suspected I would have to pay this much but the choice was have it back or not have it back.
I was aghast at how much it cost me. It gave me more sleepless nights.
You cannot find out how much it will cost you until they see that they can recover the data and realise how long it could take them.
As I don’t really know what’s involved in recovery apart from seeing on their website that they seem to wear masks and clean-room suits (which seems quite impressive and professional but who knows?), I have no idea actually how difficult this job was.
You have to trust them. I imagine it’s quite painstaking work especially if the drive they are working on is physically broken as mine was.
So getting over this massive cost-shock and finding the money was a challenge!

My last thoughts on the cost is that you need to think how much your data is worth to you and how you would feel if you didn’t have it.
Is it worth 4 figures?
My answer to myself was yes. Especially as if I look back on this in years to come, I’m not going to say I wish I hadn’t spent all that money on recovering my data.
I’m going to look back and be pleased there was an outfit who were able to recover it for me.
You have to ask yourself - will 4 figures and more look like a lot of money looking back in years to come? Will the loss of data hurt more than the loss of money?

2. COMMUNICATION
They were ultra-interested in my enquiry and had very good communication with me until I paid. The payment bit was when I was communicated with the most. It seemed to me that they wanted the payment a great deal. It felt pushy.
The whole situation of losing your data is incredibly stressful and awful - as you’ll know if you’re right now desperately looking at reviews such as this one and wondering if you can trust someone to recover your precious data.
You don’t want to be made to feel more anxious by the process.
After the payment was made I wasn’t phoned again.
It seemed to get passed onto another person who then only emailed me and I had to email a couple of times to see how the process was getting along.
This was disappointing as it looked to me like they were very interested in the money most of all rather than being interested in me and my data and the recovery of it.
The communication just fell away which then made me suspicious. I started to think it might’ve been a scam. Scammers get the payment then disappear off the radar and this is how it felt once I had paid.
I would have felt much safer and less anxious if they had continued with the same level of close communication and reassurance all the way through rather than only up to the payment part.
Yes. It gave me more sleepless nights right up to when I received my recovered data back in the post.
It’s a shame this company didn’t seem to realise this.

But. I can tell you now that this company DID successfully recover all my data and I have it all back. The whole process from first phone call to them and me receiving my recovered data took 15 days.
But these days felt very long partly due to lack of communication after payment.

One good piece of communication later was when they informed me after the data was returned to me that they were going to delete it from their server.
I then contacted them by email and asked them for more time to check the data I’d received which they were happy to do.

So finally - I would recommend DRS for data recovery but I hope they will read this review!

Fabulous service. Can’t believe how much data was recovered on my raid data server.

Really helpful advice explaining options, including no payment required until data recovered and I wished to proceed. Kept well informed at all stages. Was able to recover 1000s of family photos from an old portable drive.

A bit expensive but great, quick, quality service!

These guys did a great job recovering the data from a broken hard drive. They managed to recover everything. However, I feel they charge above average prices. Also, the sales team were quite pushy with their calls to confirm the job which I get. It's just business. Clearly these guys are working on a commission which helps drive the prices up. All fine for me but maybe a little strong for people who may be more vulnerable. However this is not a negative review. The service and the results were very good, completed very quickly and communication was very (too) good.
