A power surge took down the PSU in my desktop tower, unfortunately it also killed the printed circuit board on my hard drive meaning I could no longer access family photos, videos etc.
Following a fair amount of shopping around and being consistently quote £1000, I came to Data Recovery Specialists. After a no obligation analysis, I was advised the likelihood of recovery and the cost, over a third cheaper than competitors. The data was returned to me on a new hard drive and all files were recovered. Great service, informed at every stage. Highly recommended.

I can't recommend Data Recovery Specailists highly enough. My Macbook Air suddenly started cutting out so I brought it to my usual (top-rated) computer specialists in Central London. They called me a little while after I dropped it off to say that my SD was on the verge of breaking and that if/when it did I would lose all of my data. The told me that I needed to go to a data recovery specialist but couldn't recommend anyone as it was outside of their area. I did an internet search and the high recovery rate mentioned by Data Recovery Specialists caught my eye. I called them and they explained the process - although I'd have to send my computer to Cardiff it was all sounded very straightforward and I particularly liked how they would tell you what they were able to recover before you paid for the cost of the recovery - therefore if vital files couldn't be recovered you could halt the recovery process and just pay for your computer to be returned. I thought I'd check out a couple of other, highly rated data recovery specialists in London but their costs were higher and the recovery time much longer. Therefore I went with Data Recovery Specialists. I packaged up my computer and sent it off - DRS paid for the courier. During the week they had my computer, there was regular contact letting me know what they were doing and when. I was given the great feedback that they had managed to recover most of my data - I went through the names of my vital files and they confirmed that they were there. I authorised the data recovery process to go ahead and they then emailed with Dropbox links leading to all my recovered files. On getting my computer back I took it back to my previous London computer specialists (who'd originally looked at my computer) so they could fit a new SD and load the recovered information on it. They were amazed at the amount of data that DRS had managed to recover. Overall, dealing with DRS was a great experience: very professional and thoughtful contact throughout; I felt I was in very safe hands. I can 100% recommend them.

Damaged the hard drive I sent them (wedged it open with a screwdriver - so much for their “state of the art facilities”) and stopped replying to emails. Very unprofessional - beware!

When your data go missing it's a highly emotional experience. My computer expired suddenly and although I thought I'd backed up there were some files that turned out to be shortcuts to nowhere. So it was good to be able to talk through the issues with the same person on different calls. The staff seem to have a knack of exuding calm. The results came through within a day or two (highly positive in my case). This sort of thing does not come cheap but I stood to lose 169 pages of original research that could not have been recaptured. I had to make as sure as I could that my choice of first resort was also my last resort. It was. The post-retrieval stage was equally as well-handled. I had a special request that caused no issues. The overall sense of relief is still with me

A hard drive with my DSLR photos died before I had a chance to back everything up.

Data Recovery Specialist managed to repair the drive and get the important files back to me via Dropbox.

The turnaround was very fast.

I always trusted on my robust, expensive and reliable external USB WD hard drive until unfortunately it failed... (not so reliable after all) I had an issue before where I lost part of my data in my laptop's hard drive. At that time I tried to recover the data by myself paying for a recovery data software I found in google and it turned out I recovered only part of the data and unnamed files out of folders... So I couldn't really recover anything. If you get your files all unnamed and lost the folder structure then it's really useless and a total lost of data in my opinion so be careful with these kind of options out there.... The only data I could recovery that time was the data saved on my external WD HDD which only made me trust more in this device... Then early February this year the external hard drive I have been trusting for the last 2 years just failed... (always treated carefully on its protective case, it didn't failed out or mishandled etc, just failed) when connected to any computer (Tried 4 different PCs) it popped out the same error message: "Volume does not contain a recognized file system" and it took ages to respond. I had my doubts in contacting any specialised company for fear to be scammed and thought I just had to face the lost of all this data (and maybe find a psychologist to help me with that...) but my almost 1 TB of data including thousands of family photos and all my previous project's invaluable files gave me the courage to take the risk and try. I came across DRS in a google search and made contact with them (nobody recommended them to me so I was sceptical at the beginning). From the first contact they were very professionals and they were always in contact with me by phone and emails. First thing they asked me was to send them my damaged HDD (they organised for free the collection from my house by DHL) Then in 2days or so they gave me a file where I could see all the structures of files and folders they could recover (very fortunately it was everything I remember I had on it) with a no obligation quote and offered to return the HDD for free if I didn't agree the price. Price is not low but to be fear this is not a job anyone can do or can be trusted with... so yes it is painful but it is value for money (I could recover all my data in the same folder structures names etc that I thought was lost or that maybe I could recover in a partial a messy way....) So I paid them, they send me data in a brand new external HDD and happy ending I have all my data now backed up in three different hard drives (I don't want to go through a data issue again if possible...) So yes I have no interests with this company whatsoever but in my case they did a good job and I can recommend them based on my experience.

It’s never easy, when you lose data on a hard drive.

I lost films, music, photos and documents on my 1TB hard drive that just stopped working after I dropped it.

However, on contacting Data Recovery Service, their professionalism, speed and ease of use soon put my mind to rest and at no point was I pressured into using it.

They had my hard drive picked up (DHL) and within a short space of time, emailed me to tell me data was recoverable and showed me the files on my hard drive were still there.
I could have , at that point, just asked for my hard drive back at absolutely no cost.
I went on to have them recover said files transfer on to a completely new 1tb drive and all at a single cost, which saved me time, energy and faffing around.

Fast and efficient, (again via DHL) my new fully recovered files were back! In their new enclosure and they even called to make sure all was good and to suggest I remembered to back them up, just in case, I drop it again!

Extremely efficient, great communication, took the hassle out of the whole process. Disk collected and returned free of charge and all sorted in about a week. Excellent n service, highly recommended.

My hard drive stopped working when I accidentally used the wrong PSU sata cable. A quick Google search I found the Data Recovery Specialists, drive was collected by courier and was kept informed of the progress along the way. I got all my data recovered. I had the unfortunate event of a USB External Hard Drive not being recognised in Windows 10 File Explorer, the drive was full of family photos. I was wary and rang around several companies and I choose this company based upon the no obligation quote. 100% of my data was recovered and my data was shipped back on a 10TB Hard Drive within 10 days, excellent service. I had a great experience with the Data Recovery Specialists. I had an old Macbook Pro with a damaged hard drive that I had to perform a system recovery on. It wouldn't even switch on and I thought I'd lost a large number of photos from around 2005 to 2013. The guys arranged to collect the Macbook and quickly diagnosed the fault. They were able to recover about 90% of the data and sent it in a Dropbox drive around a day later. They kept me up to date reguarly and explained everything they were doing. They also shipped my Macbook back free of charge. Top quality service and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
