Not as advertised. Cheap material, sizing incorrect. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

Never usually bother writing bad reviews but feel I should warn people on this occasion! Bought a shirt for holiday over a week before we left. Took a slight gamble but the website said 1-2 business days to despatch and 3-5 business days to deliver, so figured there would be a good chance of it arriving in time. It didn't, hey-ho, it was a risk. But when I chased it up, they said that the delivery time is 7-14 business days. No where does it say that on the website. I got back from holiday to find a terribly poor quality garment. I didn't even take it out the plastic packaging to try it because I could see how poor quality it was, with what looked like a really low resolution print of the design. I contacted them for return details and I had to suffer through multiple attempts by them to change my mind, including saying that it can cost £50 to return to China. It actually cost me £12.90 for tracked postage with Royal Mail. I knew it would take a while to get to China, but about 7 weeks passed before I finally got my refund, having had to chase it up. The tracking information said it has been in Chinese customs for about 5 weeks! Given that it was such a terrible experience overall I'm surprised that the communication was actually quite good, in that they responded to my emails quite quickly. But this was the only redeemable quality of what appears to be a sham of a company.

This is not a company! It's a SCAM of the worst kind... photos look good but but in reality it's all poor quality! There is no phone number and no shop, the products go missing in the post of don't arrive at all. Then when you want to return they want to charge you £50 to return them to China!!!

SCAM WARNING – Dave & Carter sends fake items and ignores their own refund policy

I ordered a shirt from Dave & Carter (Order #2621) that was clearly shown on their website as having real embroidery. What I received was a completely different product - a cheap shirt with a printed pattern, totally DIFFERENT from the advertised design, and it even smelled like glue.

When I contacted them requesting a refund and offered to return the shirt at first, they offered me a 20% discount on my next order - instead of accepting the return- which is laughable, since they send these discounts in marketing emails every day.
Then they told me I’d have to pay £50 out of pocket to return the item to a warehouse in China (more than the shirt itself, which cost £44) even though the store presents itself as UK-based.

When I quoted their own refund policy, they changed their offer to a 70% discount on my next order - again, avoiding their responsibility. Here’s what their official policy says:

“Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item is faulty or incorrect.”
“If your item arrives damaged, faulty, or not what you ordered - we’re genuinely sorry. Please contact us right away at info@daveandcarteruk, and we’ll make it right as quickly as possible at no extra cost to you.”

Yet even after I showed them photo evidence and cited their terms word-for-word, they ignored it. Eventually, they just stopped replying. No return label, no refund. And they quietly REMOVED!! the shirt from their website after my complaint - which says it all.

This is fraud, plain and simple. Dave & Carter advertises one thing and ships something else. When you try to get help, they dodge accountability and go silent.

Avoid this company. Report them to Citizens Advice, Trading Standards, your bank (for chargeback), and don’t stay silent - warn others.

SCAM please do not buy from this company.

Terrible quality, sizing very inaccurate, I ordered XL shirt - looks like a small. Very cheap material. The company informed me that it would cost approximately £50 for me to return item as customer has to send back to warehouse in China. They also informed me that I have to return with tag on to gain refund - there was no tag on item (as they well know).

I have reported to trading standards, who also advised to contact:

Update: please don’t be fooled by the polite response from ‘company’ below, they provide false information during every email, and have no intent to help, as they know they are scammers…

The items I received do not match the descriptions on the website, and they arrived without the original tags or labels. This leads me to suspect that the retailer may claim they were worn or used, likely denying a refund. I intend to return the items to the store and request a refund, though I doubt about success.
I strongly advise avoiding this shop.

Bought item on the information from website showing as a UK company Dave and Carter but the reality is it’s a China based scam company.

I opened the item packaged to the cheapest of standards and made from the cheapest of material to find that it had been sent from China! I had chased delivery several times as it was for a wedding last weekend.

I have written to the support team requesting a refund plus return postage costs so let’s see what I get back.

If necessary I will report to trading standards to Pursue my lost funds and postage costs!

DO NOT BUY FROM THE COMPANY they are not based in the UK at all.

Awful quality - nothing like on the website. Not a UK company.
Nothing short of a scam - image on the website looks like high quality black woven satin. However the material is so cheap and faded green/ grey.
No offer of partial refund for faulty items, only option is for customer to pay for returns to China.

Do not buy from these. It is not a uk based company. Items are nothing like the pictures. It takes weeks to receive your order. The items are poor quality and a terrible fit. Then when you try and use the 30day guaranteed return policy, the telephone number doesn’t work, there is no return address on the website or on the parcel and when you email for return details they just ignore your emails so you are stuck with unwanted goods.

Reported to trading standards and Instagram admin!!

MORE INFO: Even their replies are automated, they reply the same to any bad reviews as you can see below. They have no intention of getting back to you if you email them as I have tried several times over the last few weeks. They just run down your promised 30day guaranteed refund policy period so you are stuck with unwanted goods.

Do not buy from this company. Cheap clothing made from nylon. Not as described on website. Ship from China and as many (so many) have reported below they expect you to pay £50 shipping fee back to China to return their poorly made, cheap material, sized badly and poorly packaged item.

It also took over 3 weeks to arrive as their products come from China.

My experience is this is a sham company.

Dave & Carter - if you're reading this ram your replies. You clearly don't give a flying f, and are lying to everyone when you say you would like people to email you to resolve the issue.

Ordered a pair of trousers for my husband in medium. The trousers came with no size label inside and they were too big. On trying to return the item, I was told that I would have to return them to China, at twice the cost of the price of the goods. I wished I’d looked on Trustpilot before I ordered.

The email and phone number provided to discuss the return process are none existent and they have therefore effectively stolen £53.95 of me, which I can’t get back.

Agree with other posts, an absolute scam. Items took 2 weeks to arrive, ordered linen & was given some knockoff plastic like material you would get from temu or one of the other knock off stores. Complete rip off. Labels ripped out of the shirt, so god knows where they sourced it from & what it is actually made of, definitely not linen.

Order a pair of shows for 39.95 GBP. Order was shipped 2 weeks late and came in the wrong size.

Reached out to ask to return it, and they are asking me to pay £50 to return it to a warehouse in China as per their "Return Policy" which does not mention any such thing.

I ordered, then read the reviews, I've had to laugh at a wedding jacket I purchased, it's a sublimated snake skin I've just laughed when I've seen it, do not buy unless you want a laugh!

Appears to be UK company but transpires it's Chinese. Delivery was 2 weeks later than quoted - because it had to come from China!
Ordered faded pink chino shorts but got sickly pink in a dreadful polyester material.
Returns are at your expense back to China and I doubt one would get a refund.

Absolute total rubbish. Delivery not arrived, communication terrible and now I understand that’s probably a Chinese company masquerading as a UK company. They are not a UK company. Avoid like the plague

I should have looked at the reviews! Sent a very poor garment, nothing like what I ordered. Emailing is a waste of time as in contradiction to their website, unsatisfactory goods must be returned to China at a cost of £50. There will then be a stock reply about "making things right" This is nonsense as I've already been through that with them. AVOID!
