Insensitive bank! Do not open an account with DBS!

Terrible experience!
I have tried to get my savings from DBS SG for nearly 4 years (!!!) and nothing has worked.
The trouble started when I left Singapore during the pandemic in 2020 and with the rush forgot to update my new telephone number in order to receive OTPs.
I called the hotline and was advised to mail a form with the changes that I require to be updated.
I did that, after a few weeks I called again to understand what was the trouble since my mobile phone hadn’t been updated… it took many more calls from my side and many months before I was informed that there was no record of my signature on the bank and I needed to sign the form in front of a notary and mail again (I had created the account online, I never got advised to go to the bank and register my signature).
After I didn’t hear anything back, I called again, and after many calls from my side and after many months passed, I finally got informed that I also needed to notarise a copy of my passport. And so I did that and mail the form again.
The story repeated again, no feedback, no update, no phone call from DBS. I called and called and finally was in formed that I also needed to send a copy of my mobile phone contract. So I went back to the notary, got the form signed in front of the notary, got a copy of my passport notarised, attached the copy of my mobile phone contract, and mailed the form again.
However… the same story! No feedback, no update, no phone call from DBS. I called many times and got informed that the form I used was not the latest form (even it is the one I got from internet!). So needed to start the WHOLE process again!
So I gathered all the patience I had left and went through the process, with another form. Went to the notary, got the “NEW” form signed in front of the notary, got a copy of my passport notarised, and attached the copy of my mobile phone contract…
Again, many months passed and there was no feedback from the bank… so after a few calls I got informed that the notary should also validate my mobile phone contract and added to the list of requirements a copy of my tax declaration of my current country of residence, however since the mobile phone is contracted in another language and the tax declaration is also in another language, I will need to translate (!!!!!) the documents and get them notarised.
So after nearly 4 years, I still can’t get my savings, I’m in debt with various entities, and I have paid more than 500 euros in notaries and couriers.

Worst bank in Singapore

Worst bank in Singapore. My dbs mobile bank app crashes all the time. Many times, I can't simply log in to do transactions. Sometimes, I got urgent things to do but it fails. Now, I only keep very little money in DBS. Really can't trust the horrible services. Their help desk is a joke, too. You dial in and enter lots of options and wait on line for one hour. After you get connected, they don't give any useful help at all. If you leave your number and ask them to call back, they will never do. This is the bank everyone should avoid.

Attitude of customer service

Attitude of customer service representative of DBS bank was horrendous. Customer called with a problem & customer service representative’s job is to ensure good customer service is provided in solving the customer’s problem but no customer service can only give uninformed replies, interrupting customer & asking customer to instead call other other banks to ask what kind of payment do they accept for immediate & urgent transaction.

Customer was going to be charged with credit card late payment & interest charges due to DBS ridiculous & slow 3 business days requirement for credit card payment to be transferred & from tone of DBS customer service representatives couldn’t care less but is there just for a salary.

If a customer wants to make immediate credit card payment, one should be able to do so immediately. Taking 3 business days is unacceptable. In this day & age, one can have immediate access be it sending an email, booking a ride, holiday, paying for anything. Ultimately customer gets charged with credit card late payment & interest charge for DBS bank slow & ridiculous 3 business days requirement for credit card payment & is at the mercy of credit card company to waive charges. What great customer service is this.

Review front of the house experience for customers

Experience at Raffles Holland Village branch - in their attempt to reduce the load on counter service, they create a long queue managed by staff who not only not have an adequate command of English to serve customers at this branch, they are also not tech savvy and read off standard mental scripts that do not help anyone. A big turn-off. The front of the house experience is the worst ever. Cross the road to UOB, and the experience is so differerent. While DBS sticks to the standard 'MOM letter within the last 3 months' for proof of address for a MDW, UOB accepts the same letter that has a 2-year validity though it is dated over 3 months ago. I would suggest putting the strongest staff in the front of the house rather than the weakest parttimers. DBS just lost a customer while UOB gained one today.

DBS is terrible from a local perspective

From a Singaporean customer, where DBS Bank is based, DBS Bank is really really bad. Easily the worst bank in terms of service reliability and customer service.

5 service outages in 10 months, the latest of which lasted more than 12 hours. Easily Singapore's largest bank, but service has been dropping below belief while it delves into more product offerings.

Given the largely seen ineffectual measures by MAS, the Central Bank of Singapore, it does not seem that DBS will improve any time soon.

I have had multiple issues with DBS in recent years, and things which I could easily settle with other banks take a much larger effort when it comes to DBS. Terrible. Oh, and if something does happen, good luck contacting them or getting a solution. Most of the time it will end badly and you will have to deal with it.

Very unprofessional DBS India

Be aware of this bank

When one deposits Fund to bank acc they have no issue but if one transfers own money from DBS Bank to own saving acc at other bank then DBS Bank has issue and they block account and one can not then transfer own money. I can't believe they are awarded Safest Bank in Asia when clients hard earned money is not safe with them.

So, be aware of this bank

Poor customer service and over charges

If there is zero rating I would have given to this bank.

Bank is unnecessarily levied charges though the problem at the bank side. I have encountered the problem of EMI date payment , where my account was locked for KYC issue ( though all KYC documents and payslips submitted to the bank on the previous month for loan the next moth again bank demanded KYC and frozen the account for debit transactions). due to which EMI was not debited from the account and bank charged for non payment. The problem solved by bank themselves on 20 Aug 2023 , though I submitted the KYC documents 09 Aug 2023. Now, bank says agent says that they will not reverse the charges and in the tone that we are slaves of bank. The customer care agent named "Ashish" is NOT allowing me speak at all, he is keep speaking in parallel, without listening to me , I understood that he is biased. This is such poor response I encountered in my entire bank experience.

Too many blocked

Dbs cc blocked so many transaction.They blocked all online transaction for Appstore. It make me some trouble during travelling aboard because they blocked my card too often due to suspicious transaction even for only usd 3

No Customer Service whatsoever

1. Hotline:
- messages are in poor English, barely understandable
- endless navigation through menus that end up in hanging up on you out of nowhere
2. Digibot:
- useless, only offers most basic options
3. Message to customer service officer:
- I ask for the 10th time not to receive postmail letters for incoming transfer notifications, I prefer e-notifications. reply: these letters are to notifiy you of incoming tranfers. Topic closed, I have to redo it all hoping I reach someone that can read and understand a message.
- message system takes 5 attempts to upload a file “did not pass antivirus check”. Well the 5th time it passed it apparently.

I was supposed to get funds from my…

I was supposed to get funds from my brother through wire transfer. After 2 weeks none of the DBS staffs are not able to either trace or able to get the funds deposited to my account. These staffs have no clue on their own policies, procedures and standards.

Now my money is stranded somewhere in some intermediary bank and these DBS (Dubious) guys have no clue how to resolve it?

Repayment Plan

I had made another repayment plan with the bank for my outstanding loan and it was approved last month. However this month, the bank still deducted from my bank account based on the previous repayment plan but the deduction amount was even higher than the original. I called their hotline for a clarification, but all their operators just kept on pushing me to call their other departments which will "assist" me. No "assistance" was rendered except taking down my number and claiming that their colleague will get back to me.

Lost my trust

Someone made a wrong transfer, inconvenienced me, threatened me all within 2 hours while I did not have access to my phone. I returned the wrong transfer and thought the matter was resolved.

However the individual has lodged a report with DBS and DBS proceeded to do an "investigation" on the erroneous transfer and sent me an email that they would be debiting from my account. I contacted their customer support and showed evidence of the transaction that I have already returned the amount that was mistakenly transferred to me. The CS responded and told me to ignore the email and the information will be relayed to the relevant department. And today I noticed my account was debited with the amount without my consent. So be extremely aware of what you're getting into when you bank with DBS and the amount of authority they have with your money even in Singapore.

Unprofessional manager (Amelia)

Unprofessional manager (Amelia), So rude that she ended our call without resolving my concern or finding another solution, all she does is say this phrase " We will find an alternate solution" I have been hearing these lame excuses for 3 days with the other managers. Shame all customer service in DBS.

Every experience is different

Every experience is different. But, wanted to highlight that DBS Bank Singapore is a decent bank out there.
Really gets the job done. All the bells and whistles but their customer outreach team are really trainees who try to sell you insurance plans for commissions.

Worst bank in Singapore.. waiting time too long for counter. Queue number to advise yet no information or updates given. Poor Customer service. I'll never recommend anyone to open any account for this poor banking services.
