Why-oh-why didn't I read the reviews before ordering?

This is a classic situation where a purchase sounded just way too good to be true and of course, it was.

A kit that I had been hunting was out of stock everywhere, but somehow DCN crafts still had it in stock and for a really reasonable price. I emailed them to enquire, they replied politely just 3 hours later.
Everything seemed great.

I placed the order on 11.2.21 and then... crickets... I heard nothing, except the automated email to say the order had been recevied.
At this point I began looking online for reviews of DCN and saw this exact same story plays out over and over again with customers.
I wished I'd paid with Paypal as opening a case is easier than doing a bank chargeback which is what I was sure I'd have to do at this point.

On the 16.2.21 I received another generic email, this time to say that due to the pandemic they are having "issues with suppliers" and this item is out of stock. I would be sympathetic if not for the following

a) They didn't tell me it was out of stock when I emailed prior to ordering about this exact item, despite them replying very quickly.

b) They did not offer any solution in this generic email such as an automated refund process or any kind of time frame as to when the order might arrive.

At this point I emailed straight back requesting a refund.
No reply
I sent the same email every morning for 4 days without a reply, politely requesting a refund.

I never recevied a reply but to my absolute shock, I recevied a refund on 20.2.21- without any email to apologise or explain by the way.

I was sure I'd have to file a chargeback, so on the basis that I wasn't scammed, they get two stars.

Long story short avoid, avoid, avoid OR only buy if you anticipate you will likely have to file a claim, in this case I would insist everybody use Paypal as it's convenient to open a claim on that platform.

They don't respond to emails & some items they're selling aren't in stock!

Bad experience! After receiving the order confirmation I didn't hear anything again - no promised despatch email & no item. I emailed them a couple of times with no response & after looking at their FB page it seems I'm not the only one. I finally received an email yesterday; it wasn't in response to mine, just one that I imagine has been sent to a lot of customers, blaming Christmas holidays, demand & furlough. If that's the case they need to put something on the website to make customers aware BEFORE they place their order!

It turns out they don't actually have my item - why have it on the website then? It is also delayed with the suppliers so goodness knows when I would get it. I would have been a lot more understanding if they had simply contacted me to explain straight away. I requested a refund which, thankfully, they have done and so I have received a standard refund confirmation email but they still haven't personally contacted me. Terrible customer service. Stop taking orders if you can't fulfil them! I most definitely do not recommend using this company.

I wouldn't recommend purchasing from hear. I placed an order which totalled over £200, on the website all items were in stock. One item finally arrived nearly two weeks late AFTER I chased it up. The other items didn't arrive and it was stated they were out of stock and would be sent when they received their next shipment. I chased up again to be given the same story of awaiting stock. In the meantime I purchased elsewhere which arrived within 48 hours. I requested a refund which was done promptly (hence the two stars not one) but not a very professional company.
