Faith Restored, thank you
Ben Walker changed my mind about Defy. Had a great phone call, and I'm willing to go forward and keep moving on with my program. Also, thank you, Missy, for reaching out to solve my concerns so quickly; that is appreciated. Faith restored.

Scary experience improperly medicating patients
Do NOT use this company, here's why. I wanted to share my very negative experience for the last 5 years with Defy so others can be aware and advocate for themselves in case they recognize a similar pattern. I’m so disappointed I trusted my health and well-being to this Defy and I regret using them. This is why you should go elsewhere…
(I responded to Defy's customer service, they offered me a free consultation, like they're doing me a favor. FML)
I originally sought help for fatigue and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was started on desiccated thyroid medication, and initially things improved and showed in the first year’s blood work so this instilled my trust in Defy.
However, over time (5 total years), my medication was increased without a full evaluation of how my labs and symptoms were trending together. This clinic specializes in hormones, how can you not properly read year 2 of a blood panel then continue to mis-diagnose and improperly medicate a patient for 3+ years. My emotional, mental and physical health is destroyed right now and be cause of my imbalance, I've had thoughts of suicide over the last 2+ years.
Looking back at my lab results due to Defys overmedication:
- My Progesterone dropped to .1
- My TSH became suppressed (very low)
- My Free T3 was at the high end or above range
- I began developing symptoms consistent with overstimulation, including poor sleep, heat intolerance, nervous system sensitivity, and eventually loss of my menstrual cycle
Despite these clear patterns, there was no adjustment made to account for possible over-replacement or the downstream hormonal effects this was having on my body after my results from year 2 of treatment. I was having horrific mood swings, sleeping extremely poorly, and suicidal thoughts.
I now understand that my system was likely being pushed into an overactive state, which impacted my sleep (waking up all night long), nervous system, and reproductive hormones (including very low progesterone and loss of cycle). I haven't had a proper night sleep in the 9 months of tracking my sleep I've recorded.
What has been most frustrating is not just the symptoms, but the lack of holistic evaluation. My labs were viewed in isolation for 5 years total, rather than as a pattern over time, and my symptoms were not fully integrated into my care plan.
I’m sharing this so others know:
—— Make sure your provider is looking at trends over time, not just single results——
I wish I had known earlier how important it is to balance thyroid treatment carefully, especially when using T3-containing medications. I’ve done my research and talked to another medical professional about my labs/blood work and Defy medicated me to Hyperthyroid for 3 total years and not only did they not catch it, they continued to over. Treat me for hypothyroid. My progesterone is .1 but started at 1.4 and with my symptoms being text book hyperthyroidism, how was that missed.
I am now working to rebalance my system, and I hope sharing this helps someone else catch these patterns sooner and uses another company. Always double check these ‘clinics’. I’m so disappointed I trusted my health and well-being to this Defy and I regret using them.

They just seem to be in the market as a boutique health center offering access to prescriptions other doctors are uninterested in pursuing. They offer military discounts but only on certain scripts with no real logic or pattern that you will discover after you verify your status.

Severe delay
It is my first time using Defy Medical service. The setup for telehealth visit was easy and the staff were very responsive. However, it has been 2.5 weeks since the visit and I have not received any of the medications that they prescribed. I wrote and call on 3 different occasions and keep hearing apologies about the delays. I can only assume that their affiliated pharmacy my be having supply chain problem. I wish they were upfront about it instead of making me wait for weeks.

BEFORE YOU USE THEM Verify they can even deliver meds to your state!!!!!
Have experienced issues from the very beginning with this facility. Kicking ourselves for not staying with our previous provider/facility. Initial lab orders were written out to a facility we don't even have access to in our state, took several days to get that changed. Must drive 3 hours one way to get to the closest Quest diagnostic facility in our state. After 6 hours of driving to complete labs, my consult occurred 2 weeks later with my provider through Defy and was a complete joke. She was late to the meeting and was not knowledgeable with any of my health concerns and basically just went along with anything I suggested as far as treatments. Was informed that some of the previous medications I had been prescribed by previous facility would not be able to be delivered to my state. I then expressed my concern as I need those medications. I explained that I would unfortunately have to return to the previous facility for this reason and she then asked me to "hold on" while she looked at Defy's "store" to find out if there was a comparable medication they could in fact delivery to my state. She was able to locate an alternative and we agreed on the medication. Received a routine telephone call the following morning to let me know my invoice for my medications was in my patient portal. I find out I will need to pay for 3 different pharmacies at $30 a piece! Also find out that no, the medications I was previously requesting (that I was receiving from a different company prior) cannot be delivered to my state after all but a "similar" medication could be delivered to me. When I asked the representative to read the medications compounded in this "similar" medication there were only 2/5 of the medications that I need in this compounded pill that she was trying to sell me. One of them I have never even been prescribed previously. I asked where the remaining 3 medications were and was informed they couldn't be delivered to my state but that this one could be. Why would I order a compounded medication that only includes 2/5 of the meds in it that I need?????? I am so unbelievable frustrated that I have wasted $561.60 for a consult fee and initial lab fee for myself, and another $557.60 for initial consult and lab fee for my husband. We are weeks out now with no medications and now to find out we have been deceived into thinking that Defy could provide our medications as they clearly cannot. The representative states "whether a pharmacy can deliver to your state can change from day to day". WHAT?! I have never heard anything so absurd. We will both be returning to our previous facility and I will never recommend Defy to anyone I meet.

Jill has the rare combination of clinical expertise and a great personality
Jill was the first clinician ever to go over with me, in detail, the results from my CBC, metabolic panel, lipid panel, and testosterone total and free. In addition we had a delightfull conversation about life and on the holistic nature of all the constituent factors influence health. This is my fourth visit with Jill and at 50 I have never been this fit, healthy, or content. She's also really funny and you can tell she really cares.

Consistently good experience over the years
I’ve been a patient at Defy Medical for almost four years, and Jill has been the person I’ve worked with the entire time. She’s honestly been great.
Talking about personal medical stuff isn’t easy, but Jill makes it comfortable and low-stress. She’s knowledgeable, confident, and very easy to talk to. She has a great personality and never makes you feel rushed or awkward, which really helps when you’re trying to ask the right questions and understand your options.
She’s made every consultation a good experience for me, and I really appreciate the care and consistency she brings to her role.

Defy has had a great reputation - not anymore
Defy has had a great reputation - Pass tense. If you call them today, 12/17/205 the customer service people will shower you with apologies due to the lack of production. They finally confessed that they do not know what is happening at Defy.
I have been talking with them since November. I had my prescription written on 12/05/2025. The clinician said this will invoice today. Once it invoices, it will be immediately sent to the pharmacy. NOT TRUE! Defy sat on this order for over a week. Never sent anywhere. When calling they do not offer anything in terms of help or anything to correct the situation. So, I'll give them one more week, then, I will reverse the charges on my credit card. I'll keep you posted. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!

Defy Medical Does Not Care about you, only $$$
I have been a patient of Defy Medical for 3 years +-. Dr. Caulkins is an amazing doc! Every employee has always been friendly. I have experienced the ugly side of Defy after having multiple delivery problems. I pay quite a bit extra to have my medications delivered next day due to the extreme heat where I live. I had a next day FedEx delivery leave my package in the mailbox, vials were so hot I couldn't handle them. It took over a week and hours of phone calls to replace, so now I require a signiture. My next order UPS attempted delivery 3/4 of a mile from my house, I contacted the pharmacy & Defy, a new prescription was sent, FedEx attempted the delivery at a small outbuilding, my house was in plain site. That was over 8 days ago. I have emails from Defy saying to solve this myself(paraphrased), they can't do anything due to federal laws, they don't send prescriptions to local pharmacies. I do not have a relationship ship with their pharmacy & the pharmacy is not going to refund the money I payed to Defy. The federal law they claimed allows them to write another prescription as I never received the medications. Defy does send prescriptions to local pharmacies, they have a billable electronic form.
This is the treatment they give to 3 year + patients/ customers.
I believe Defy Medical is a victim of its own success. Beware it's all good till you need help.

Defy managed to send an incomplete prescription to a local pharmacy. I will need to drive 2 hours to pick it up. Then another 2 hours when they send the complete prescription. It seems to me they are intentionally punishing their patient.

I just feel a little more confident in my outcome and am so hopeful of my bettering soon. Everything was covered well and I suddenly feel hopeful. That’s so important when one is struggling. I feel like she heard me and said let’s go. That’s what those of us deep in meno need. Very appreciative of the knowledge and the plan set forth. Super excellent outcome.
