Direction Law is a firm proudly built on relationships. With staff of around 180, offices in London, South East, South West & the Midlands and 45 years of experience, we are one of the most established and largest specialist affordable housing solicitors in the country. In 2020 and 2021 we were awarded Highly Commended in the First Time Buyer Reader’s Awards in the Best Law Firm for Conveyancing category. We are a friendly, professional firm and we pride ourselves on communicating with our clients, clearly and concisely. While other firms may have conveyancers who deal with a variety of affordable housing cases, we have taken it one stage further and have individual dedicated teams specialising in either new build shared ownership, resale sales and purchases, or new build/Help to Buy respectively: thus, ensuring greater expertise. Our goal is to progress cases to exchange and completion as swiftly as possible, resulting in a satisfied client who has achieved their dream of home ownership with the minimum of fuss. Shannon was fantastic. Offered to stay behind late on a Friday night until my funds had been received so I could complete! Definitely would recommend.

If I could give no stars I would
If I could give no stars I would — avoid at all costs. A mistake they should have spotted during our house purchase has caused us nearly 9 months of stress and delayed selling our property hugely. There has been next to no communication, with nearly 4 weeks being the longest they ignored our emails for, although we have been ignored a week at a time regularly since the issue was flagged in early November.
I can only assume they’ve somehow hacked into trustpilot to get any 5 star reviews because I can honestly say this is the worst company I’ve ever interacted with.
I can’t even express how much I DO NOT recommend them.
(In reply to Direction Law’s reply, my partner D Richards is the person you’re dealing with on the case)

Completed last week using Direction Law, you’d be lucky to have Lucy manage your case as she was absolutely from instruction to completion. So efficient to respond to my emails and explained everything clearly! She is an asset to the company.

Self-serving nonsense
The same old tired Bob Cratchit non committal clockwork plod. A system that solicitors fight tooth and nail to protect.

V good service towards the final part of the sale by Katie
Bad
Some Communication with staff can be either complex to understand (focusing too much on law language) and patronising
The compliance process at the start was far too difficult. I understand the need to do it with regards to money laundering. The money for my deposit for house was in several different savings/NSnI accounts. I got told that all the money had to be in my current account. I queried the need to do this and got told if I didn’t transfer the money than the sale could not complete. Forget about loosing bonuses etc of transferring money I have lots of learning difficulties which made the whole process more difficult to complete. In fact I lost £24 000 in the process. After investigating this, the money was on a electronic limbo between my current and savings accounts. So I got the money back eventually
Please consider this process as it’s unnecessary to put savings accounts into current account

Excellent service
It was amazingly good to work with Direction Law. They are very open, professional, prompt and always answered very fast on any query I had. I do think they are brilliant and I would recommend them further to my friends and family. The only downside is that they don't have no buy no fee policy. I had to give up on buying a property and switching for another one, they only pay back half of the money I payed as a first payment. I choosed to go with them because they knew the development. I didn't regret, as they did the work very quick, however I didn't like that they didn't refund my whole amount for the previous deal.
Addendum 18/07/2023
As I have no reply option to the answer of Direction Law. I have paid 60£ fee, on the first lot of payment of (360 or 380£) but I have only been refunded 190£.

Alia was absolutely brilliant!
My husband and I are both first time buyers and she made the process completely stress free. Got back to us with any queries in a timely manner and was always on the end of the phone if we called. We completed on time and she ensured all documents were ready to go. I was nervous at first due to some of the bad reviews but I can honestly say we have had a brilliant experience with direction law and will recommend to anyone! Thank you :)

Terrible communication from Direction law and particularly my case officer
Throughout the application and completion process I was hindered by my officer’s inability to respond to emails or return phonecalls in a timeframe less than a week. Despite me calling several times in a day, I was unable to get through or have things chased up in a timely manner.
