Lovely food and service

I visited Dishoom for the first time yesterday… the food was lovely and the service received from Rafaella was brilliant! She explained the menu and recommended dishes. We will definitely be back :-)

Outstanding place to eat & drink!

We ate at Dishoom Battersea Power Station last night. An outstanding experience! There were 7 of us with two children. The staff were amazing and I don’t say that lightly - amazing! Friendly and professional. Now to the food - EXCELLENT! I would, without any doubt, highly recommend this restaurant. From

Absolutely awful first time experience…

Absolutely awful first time experience with Dishoom.
The cold food was dumped outside on the ground.
They did not ring our two bells or phone us.
I discovered it ten minutes later.
Very unprofessional and shambolic company sadly.

Fantastic Ruby chicken at home

Excellent online customer service

A little problem with my online order of the bacon naan kit.
I emailed and had a response within a couple of hours offering 2 options of acceptable solutions which I accepted.
Excellent customer service, very impressed.

Friendly staff. Gorgeous Venue. Wonderful food

Been 3 times now in the Manchester branch. Loved it every time.
I am not that adventurous with new flavours but after going with recommendations from our server we were delighted. I wish I got the name of him, he was amazing and encouraged us to get more that we loved.
Not sure why there's quite a few bad reviews. It depends what you get and what you like. Last time my partner went he got the NALLI NIHARI BIRYANI which he said wasn't as good as the other curry dishes.

The restaurant gets fully booked very quick. They do allow some walk ins and there is a waiting area for this which can be over an hour wait. Goes to show how good they are.

sharing a great experience…

I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional service and kindness exhibited by your staff, with special mention to Hester.
On the afternoon of January 30th, I had the pleasure of dining with friends at Dishoom around 12:30. Due to a hectic morning, I found myself unable to arrange flowers for a dear friend joining us. As a quick solution, I decided to pick up some fresh-cut flowers from Sainsbury on my way to Dishoom. Upon reaching Dishoom, I playfully inquired with Hester if she happened to have a ribbon behind her desk. To my surprise, not only did she have one, but she also went above and beyond by offering to create a beautiful bouquet using the random flowers I had purchased. Additionally, she graciously volunteered to deliver the bouquet to our table. When Hester presented the flowers, I was astonished at the artistry with which she had arranged them. It was truly remarkable to see her transform the random flowers into such a delightful bouquet. Thanks to her efforts, we were able to bring immense joy to my best friend during our lunch. It's worth mentioning that Hester humbly requested that I refrain from writing this review, expressing her genuine happiness in helping others and bringing smiles to people's faces. However, I felt compelled to share this experience with you. I am immensely grateful for the outstanding service provided by Hester and her colleagues. Thank you for selecting and fostering a team that goes above and beyond in making customers feel special. P.S the food was as excellent as always.

Third visit to Edinburgh outlet

Third visit to Edinburgh outlet. Strange policy of only allowing bookings (of under 6 people) up to 6pm. After that it's queue on the street (no thanks).
But no problem to us (as we like to eat early) or anyone else as the place was rammed.
The menu here is so different from any other standard curry house and, honestly, I'd be happy with any choice.
Service to match: attentive, polite and informative.
Bill for two into 3 figures, but that's the norm

Exceptional customer service from Shani Birmingham

Attended Dishoom Birmingham with my sister this morning prior to giving blood and had exceptional customer service from Shani. Friendly, warm & knowledgable about the menu - our chai latte glass kept getting refilled, nothing was too much for her, clearly an asset to the team. Will definitely be returning.

What is all the hype about???

Tried to dine several times before but could never be bothered to queue for over an hour in the cold. Finally got to try it at the Covent Garden restaurant and was looking forward to seeing what all the hype was about. What a letdown! The food was bland and unauthentic. Much better food and menu choices from your local Indian restaurant. Felt like a cattle market trying to get diners in and out as fast as possible. We had a side plate that we had to serve our own starters on, no garnishing. Lamb samosas looked like they had come out of a freezer package and the chicken curry was spicy tomato soup with a few pieces of chicken floating around. The waiters weren't even going to take away our dirty starter plates which I presume they expected us to use for our mains. Never normally leave reviews which gives you an idea of how poor our experience was.

Would not bother, staff very rude

Went to the restaurant off Carnaby street and never been to a restaurant where the staff are so rude and unorganised, would advise anyone to not bother as there are a lot better places to eat in the area and can have a better experience with better staff.

Unacceptable service

Unacceptable service! Booked a table for some colleagues at christmas. We were not told of the festive menu until arrival, which must be ordered from. We said we wanted to order from the normal menu, as the selection of dishes in the festive menu is limited. We were told this is not possible. We said we would find somewhere else and were told the £50 deposit would be refunded. It has been a week and this deposit still has not been refunded. Terrible service and communication!

Dishoom Store has no customer service telephone

I placed an order with the Dishoom store online on the 5th December and after processing my credit card I received an order confirmation email. A week has passed and I have had no further communication about a delivery date, not even an email to set expectations regarding when it might be shipped!

I then discovered that Dishoom store have no customer service telephone number. I contacted one of their restaurants only to have that confirmed and that the only way to communicate is via email. I asked if their was an online chat and they told me that there was and i could try that. I did so, but the person on the chat (after the bot) told me the same and that they could not help. I have emailed them twice now, and I still haven’t had a response regarding the status of my order.

Please bear all of this in mind when dealing with Dishoom Store - given that their only customer communication is electronic - you would think that their electronic communication and expectation setting would be of top quality, but sadly it is (at this current time for me) none existent. If i do mot hear from them by tomorrow, I will have no option but to cancel my credit card transaction through lack of delivery of goods or communications setting expections.

UPDATE - 13th December.
Dishoom Store emailed me back and apologised, the issue was that they were waiting for their supplier’s delivery.

My experience at Dishoom near Battersea…

My experience at Dishoom near Battersea Station was extremely disappointing. Despite arriving at 6 pm on a freezing Friday evening and enduring a lengthy queue at 0 degrees, the waiting time was shockingly estimated at 2.5 hours. Despite having a toddler with us, the request for some food in the waiting area was denied, adding to the frustration. Surprisingly, those behind us were seated before us. Finally seated at 9 pm, the average food hardly justified the excruciating 3-hour wait. To top it off, the service was abysmal, with an additional half-hour wait for the bill. This overhyped restaurant's poor management and service ensure I won't be returning.

Dishoom Kings Cross- food was amazing

Dishoom Kings Cross- food was amazing. Very disappointing drinks menu. No basic drinks like lemonade or Pepsi. Ordered raspberry soda for the bottle to say no actual fruit in it. Just sugar. Gross. Also very dark inside. I walked into a wall and have a huge bruise now. One couple were eating their food by phone torch as there was no overhead light. Plenty staff about, all busy. Slightly annoyed by the 12.5% tip auto added to the bill for a table of two. If you don’t have the means or weren’t expecting that, it becomes uncomfortable for diners and ruins the experience.

Rudest staff ever

Rudest staff ever! Covent Garden Dishoom is too chaotic! We joined a queue in the rain only to be accustomed aggressively by a guy with no uniform, no name badge, no greeting or introduction who demanded our details for his iPad otherwise we wouldn’t be in his “system” and that we would have to wait 50 minutes in the rain for a table regardless. Shocked I didn't say anything then he laughed and said I wasn't in the official queue now. No manners or decorum, he came across as a fraudulent criminal trying to steal/beg money and seemed to love the power trip of speaking to paying customers in a derogatory way. When I said I hadn’t seen him asking other customers for their details he began to get argumentative and get other people in the queue involved. So shocking! This clown should not be working in hospitality at all or representing the Dishoom brand which prides itself on customer walk-ins and lives up to its name and wonderful reputation in Shoreditch. I warned a uniformed member of staff they would lose custom over him and they seemed to have a word with him but ignored us. So we left. Utterly disgraceful and disappointing behaviour.
