To start with whilst the initial experience was dreadfully frustrating, which is why I have given only 2 stars, the final contact from Lizzie on the phone was definitely worthy of 5 stars and she needs to be recognised for this.
So, back to the minuses which are all down to the website. Trying to fill out the application form was very very frustrating.
If for any reason it did no like something that was put in, it would go back to the top of the form, but not let you know (highlight) what the problem was. As an example, in the drop down list to pick either working, retired, etc as I am retired so naturally I picked that. When I went to submit it, the form just scrolled to the top saying something was not right...but not what it was. I checked everything, spellings etc all good. So tried again and again and again but with the same result. Then I clicked on that drop down list and just out of frustration picked 'Retired' and that then worked. Yes, whilst I have literally only just reaches pensionable age, I have been retired for 7 years and naturally thought of myself as that.
So, once that was sorted if for any reason I could not find any other issues (which I did not do initially on about three occasions, it would then say oops, seems you have and add blocker, please disconnect it. So I did, and my VPN but it made no difference it still thought I had an add blocker on and after trying again, it just cancelled the order and say I had to get Octopus to reapply. This happened about three times.
I naturally tried the 'chat bot' but all that did was not connect but spin round until I gave up. So, next email. but again for some reason it just did not go through. So, I ended up copying the email address and sending via my own private email.
Eventually when I was contacted by email I was asked to take off add blocker and change my browser, which I had already done, but to no avail. I use Firefox which is a common browser used by millions of people and I have never had any issues with any other website.
I will admit on one of the many occasions I tried to complete the online from, in my frustration I accidentally put my date of birth the wrong way round, so I was asked to confirm by the email what it was. Now, again if when I accidentally did this, why did the system not show it up?
Nothing worked and so I was told I would be sent another request form connection and did I want Octopus to request it or happy that DivideBuy sent it direct. I said to let DivideBuy send it direct. I was also asked if I wanted a telephone call to book one which I did. for the following Monday The new connection never turned up and nobody called me on the date and time given.
All this time I was also in contact with Octopus who liaised with someone at DivideBuy and I eventually received an email from Lizzie. She apologised saying my phone request was not passed on. So, we arranged another call. Lizzie was brilliant. Took time to go through the issue and eventually it was sorted by me having to simply un-tick some boxes in my Firefox security settings. It was as simple as that. She stayed on the phone whilst I went through the whole process again, until it was submitted successfully. She was patient, friendly and knowledgeable. When asked questions, Lizzie explained everything clearly and concisely in an easy to understand way.
Had I been able to actually talk to someone the first time it went wrong this would have been sorted about 5 days before. Chat bots and email are fine if they work, but sometimes you also just need to speak to a person to explain the issue and for some reason you seem reluctant to allow this or at least make it difficult.
The frustration I experienced meant I was very close to just giving up and cancelling my order with Octopus. Luckily the Octopus representative Ross also helped in eventually getting me the call I needed.
Again 10 out of 10 to Lizzie but a sorry 2 out of 10 for the website and reluctance to want to actually speak in person to a customer.
